Topic: Favorite Scenes

Okay, gonna get a new topic rolling. What's your favorite scene or moment in the film? And WHY? You can even list a couple if you can't pick. Two of my favorites are:

-When Andy and Allison talk about her homelife by the bookshelf; I think Andy is very sweet in that scene and they seem to really understand one another

-Bender and Brian going over the contents of Brian's lunch; those two just crack me up, I love Brian saying "That's apple juice." and rubbing his hand after Bender slapped him

I love the scene when they sit in the circle and talk. There's so much going on in that scene, it's just great. But I think the dance scene makes the movie.

I got a Breakfast Club calendar for Christmas (my mom found it online somewhere) and for March the picture is of the guys dancing on the railing, my favorite part of the whole movie.

And also because I am such a softy I love Andy and Allison's kiss.

I love near the beginning when Andy, Bender and Claire are arguing and Bender says 'You're pretty sexy when you get angry' Best part ever!

Also the scene where they're running through the halls from vernon to Wang Chung!

Anyways, here are mine:

1) Gotta agree with Stargazer; running through the halls to Wang Chung

2) Bender wants to go pee in the library

3) The dance scene to Karla Devito

4) The 'ruckus' scene

5) Life at Big Bry's house

6) Vernon chasing Bender, and in the gym

Now what about quotes, huh? With favourite scenes you gotta have favourite quotes! Here are mine:

1) Allison: When you grow up your heart dies.

Bender: Who cares?

Allison: I care.

2) Brian: Who are you? I am a walrus!

3) Carl: I am the eyes and ears of this instituition my friends!

Brian: Just your standard, regular lunch I guess.

Okay, more favorite scenes:

1. Bender needing to pee in the library (see, again, you stole all my favorites) and Andy getting ** (oops, unintentional pun, LMAO)

2. Brian and Bender discussing clubs

3. The whole couch scene

4. The part where Andy and Brian are debating whether or not to follow Bender and Claire to get high

5. Brian correcting Vernon's detention count

Hey, spirit! Great scenes. John looks really good when they're running (fan girl alert!), and I love the broken door scene, too. My favorite part is when Brian says, "There are fire exits on either end of the library." and makes the stewardess motion with his fingers. Ha, ha! That part gets me every time.

Hmm, favourite scenes and quotes - but there are so many!

Scenes:

Allison eating her lunch.

Bender in the gym when Vernon walks in - rolls the ball to him.

The dancing, of course.

When Bender is crawling through the ceiling.

When Allison steals Bender's knife.

Allison getting Claire to admit to being a virgin.

Quotes:

Andrew:"If I lose my temper, you're totalled man!"

Oh god I love Andy's dancing...it makes me laugh so damn hard! I mean...Emilio dancing PERIOD is just a wonderful thing...especially when he is tearing his shirt off!

I also gotta agree with Midnight: "There's fire exits located at either end of the library" That makes me lose it everytime I hear him say it.

I also love it when they are getting high and John, Claire, and Brian are watching Andy run around like a lunatic...and Brian punches Claire in the shoulder and she screams, "Ow!" I LOVE THAT SO MUCH! HAHAHAHA Brian is so crazy! Screw Bender...Brian had the funniest lines in the movie I think.

-I Love the Dance scene as well. I think Molly really rocked it up on the stairs.

-And of course being a big fan of the whole makeover genre, I love Allison's big reveal, her smile is so sweet at the end.

-Then there's the whole "Answer the question Claire" part, the look on Claire's face is just classic.(side note, do any of you recall a scene in "Go" that made reference to it? It's pretty funny).

-The whole whistling scene is HI-larious, with Allison jumping in quickly towards the end

Oh, it's so difficult to choose my favorite scenes and quotes from the movie, but here are some of them:

Claire: "Excuse me, sir, I think there's been a mistake. I know it's detention, but, I don't think I belong in here"

John: "You look pretty sexy when you get angry... ooh"

John: "Sweets... you couldn't ignore me if you tried" (Judd Nelson's voice kills me!)

John: "So... So! Are you guys like boyfriend-girlfriend? Steady-dates? Lovers? C'mon, sporto, level with me, do you slip her the hot beef injection?"

John: "How comes Andrew gets to get up? If he gets up, we'll all get up... it'll be anarchy!"

John: "That's very clever, sir. But what if there's a fire? I think violating fire codes and endangering the lives of children would be unwise in this juncture in your career, sir"

John: "Show Dick some respect!"

John: "You won't accept a guy's tongue in your mouth and you're gonna eat that?"

You know, I think the whole lunch scene in general is great.

You got John completely disgusted by Claire eating Fish.

You have Andy eating so much (but still looking so damn fine) and getting all defensive when they watch him

You have the ENTIRE Bender/Brian conversation (which takes the cake in my opinion) "What are we having?"

And then there is Allison. Throwing her meat at the statue, slurping her coke so loud. She is so unladylike. I love her. And the best part is all of their faces when she notices them watching her, and then the way she winks at them. F-ing hilarious!

Claire: "Can I eat?"

Bender: "I dunno, give it a try?"

Bender: "PB&J with the crusts cut off. Well Brian, this is a very nutritious lunch; all the food groups are represented. Did your mom marry Mr. Rogers?"

Brian: "No...Mr. Johnson."

Bender: "Oh."

Okay... I love the whole movie, but if I have to choose....

-John and Allison doing the mashed potato on the railing, and John looking like he can't be bothered.

-The look on John's face when Vernon asks him to throw the first punch.

-Carl asking Vernon for $50 to keep quiet.

-Allison stealing Bender's knife, and the lunch meat still visible in the background.

-The noise Claire makes when Bender puts his face between her legs. (wow that sounds way dirtier than it is, lmao)

-Bender hitting the 'two bits' part on the underside of the table.

-The way John looks at Claire when they start to get stoned.

-The way Andy looks at John when he asks Claire to the party.

-"Claire?" "It's a family name." "No it's a fat girls name." -This part!- "Oh thanks." "You're welcome." -LOL-

-OF COURSE I love Bender describing getting to third base past 11 on a school night. Who wasn't thinking, "Yes John, pleeease take my Calvin's off!"

-Andy threatening to 'beat the sh-t out of' Brian in the hallway.

-The 'I wanna be an airborne ranger' song.

-The part where Bender yells "F-ck You!" at Vernon, and there's that swell of music. LOVE IT.

-The boob trick. I learned it. lol

-When John throws the coke at Allison, and she catches it without looking.

-When Allison slurps the coke off the table.

-When Brian is watching Claire daydream and then uses his hat to hide his boner.

-When Brian and Bender go to remove their coats at the same time.

-Bender smacking Brian's hand.

-When Allison dances herself onto the ground.

-The way Andy looks at Allison when they're by the bookcase and he says, "Is it bad? Real bad?" Loooove him!

-The smutty calendar in Vernon's office.

-The way John smiles when Carl says the clock is fast.

-The way Vernon turned John into a little kid when he's giving him that string of detentions.

-When Brian says, "No sir, that's seven."

-And of course... Brian saying, "Chicks cain't hold dey smoke... dat's what eet ees."

And I love the part where John and Brian try to take off their jackets at the same time. Brian watches him, then starts rubbing his hands together like he's cold, LMAO. Oh, Brian. No one could love you more than I do.

Okay, I'm watching it right now on a High Def TV... something I recommend for everyone, because you can see ALL the looks on ALL their faces, and see so much of what passes between them. Anyway, here are a few more things I noticed this time around that I LOVE.

-The noise Bender makes when he jumps up from between Andy and Claire to take the screw out of the door.

-The way Brian jumps when Bender and Andy get into their scuffle right in front of him.

-When Brian tries to break up the first fight, and they simultaneously smack his arm off.

-The look on Brian's face when Bender tells Vernon his dope is in Brian's underwear.

-When Bender says, "So Ahab, can I pawn my doobage?"

-That all three boys eventually wear Bender's sunglasses.

-When Vernon spills his coffee, and sighs and rolls his eyes... all with an orange slice in his mouth.

-The sweet classical music that plays in the background when Claire corrects Bender and says "Moliere".

-The gray streak!

-The looks on all their faces when Vernon yells "God damn it!" from the hallway.

-Claire kicking Bender under the table.

-The way Andy smirks when Allison yells, "Ha!"

-That Claire is the first one to go get high with John.

-That Andy is soooo chivalrous.

-The silent mouthing between Brian and Andy when they're deciding to go smoke.

-The way Brian raises his eyebrows when he decides to go smoke.

-Anthony Michael Hall doing the Dead Zone eyebrow lift, even back then.

-The little nod John gives Claire right after the "Drunk mother in the Caribbean" speech, as if he were apologizing.

I love when Vernon is sitting as his desk eating lunch. The way he looks so sad and defeated when his coffee spills...but so ridiculous that he has food hanging from his mouth. And then he goes off muttering in the hallway about sraping (coffee) from the mississippi river.

I also love when the boys wear the sun glasses. I always wondered how Bender was so nonchalant about all his stuff being shared, lol.

One of my favorite scenes is when John goes into Claire's skirt. LOL! The looks on their faces are great! I also like when John asks Claire is she belongs to the physics club and she rolls her eyes like saying: "IDIOT", oh, I'm in love with Molly Ringwald!!! LOL.

And I can't stop sighing when Claire asks John if he was realy disgusted about what she did with her lipstick, and he just says "truth?", she answers that she wants the truth, he nods and says "no" while his lips drawn into a smile. AWWW!! And their last kiss! Though the first time I watched the movie I screamed at the screen because she didn't let John to lean against her, lol. And you should really watch that scene in slow motion! It KILLS me! Oh, I'm a hopeless romantic.

There are more scenes that I found extremely great, but right now my mind is in another world and I can't focus in my words, so I'd better be going before I start saying stupid things.

My top 5 fav scenes:

#5: Allison throwing the deli meat from her sandwich over her shoulder and it sticking to the statue

#4: the DANCING scene, especially when Bender tosses his head around and his hair goes flying (sexy)

#3: "Could you describe the ruckus?"

#2: Life at Big Bri's House/Life at Bender's House

#1: When they were about to get caught by Vernon in the halls and Brian goes "We're dead" and Bender goes "No, Just me" and he gets himself in trouble to save the group.

Every single scene with Brian in it. Oh, god, I love that boy. My favorites have to be:

+ when he talks about the fire exits (stewardess hand motions!)

+ the scene where he's brainstorming about the essay and conveniently references The Who AND The Beatles (Who are you? Who are you? ...I am a walrus!)

+ when Bender calls him a neo-maxi zoom-dweebie, and the look on his face...it's like, 'aww, Brian, don't cry! I understand about your parents and their wacko idea of parental compassion!' lol

+ Number One Favorite Scene: When Brian says to Claire, "I don't...I don't understand pressure? Well, f-ck you, Claire. F-ck you!" Because I wanted to say that to her almost ALL through the movie. And his confession right afterward. It tugs the heartstrings every time.

My favorite scene with Brian is when he says that he doesn't like himself. I've seen A LOT of times the movie and EVERY SINGLE TIME I watch that scene, I cry. Aw, I love Bry!!!

I looked through the movie and realized that up to this point, every stage of my life has been represented by a member of TBC. When i was a little preschool girl, i was all about the pink and all the pretty-princessy stuff (Claire). In late elementary school i was kinda a tomboy and loved going to gym (Andy). In middle school i had a hard time adjusting to all these new people (i moved) and kinda shrunk back into a corner (Allison). Freshman year in high school i rebeled a lot when my parents spilt and I was experiementing (don't ask, it's all good now) and had this 'devil-may-care' attitude (Bender) and from then until present I've been kinda insecure about myself, pouring myself head first into my studies (Brian).

OMG...what if I'm Vernon next???

Oh yeah, and have you ever watched TBC in FF so that you can still hear sound but it's clearly sped up? OMG, it's f-cking HILARIOUS!!!! They don't sound like chipmunks, but the timing is great. When Brian tells Bender "It's the sh-ts, huh?" it sounds like he's saying "Schiksta!" The beginning dialogue with Bender's "Gotta take a **" scene was LOL funny. Don't get me STARTED on the lunch scene!

You know, that's why I love so much the movie, because I can feel related to each character. I think we've discussed something like this in another thread, but MOST OF US have a brain, an athlete, a basket-case, a princess and a criminal inside, or at least we had one in a period of our lives.

Aw, I love that movie so much! I want to see it right now! If I weren't going out, I'd definitely watch it RIGHT NOW!

Dudettes, every time I come back into this thread I think of something else to write! I'm beginning to think the whole movie (minus the door breaking) is my favourite scene! But the one that makes me laugh the most is the 'fire exits' line and when Brian punches Claire. I LAUGH SO HARD every time he hits her!

I'm still trying to find and identify my inner Claire. But we have fought about this before. The day/minute/second I find her I will run to you guys and let you know. If the BC members were faces of my multiple personalities, I would have to say that Bender is my dominant one. My Bender side keeps me going! My Allison side is slowing fading into my anti-socialism side while I gain more Brian. lol.

But yeah, to quote our dear friend Beena, "Crazy Criminal" (BenderAllison) is my most dominant inner BC! Probably always will be too.

You know, Kristen, I am not a punk rocker like yourself - no matter how much I endeavour to be so - because I am just so Brian it's not funny. But I'm having a bit of trouble with the inner Claire thing as well...Is that just whenever I'm being a b-tch to someone? I go to an all-girls school, so maybe whenever I act like the rest of the masses I'm being Claire and I just haven't realized it.

That's really frightening. I don't want to be the masses, whether it involves embodying Molly Ringwald or not.

I definitely have a Claire inside of me, no doubt. I can be such a b-tch when I mean to. At times I don't like to be like that, but it's my nature. But the character with whom I have more problems feeling a connection or something is with Andy. I was kind of like him (the "not-thinking-by-yourself thing") a long time ago... but not anymore, so I'm fine with everyting.

THANK YOU NOVA! See guys, there are people who CANNOT have an inner Claire! IT IS POSSIBLE! lol, I think my inner Brian is what draws me to fan fiction. lol. I can be a total b!tch too...but its not really the Claire way...I don't do it to be snotty, I do it because it needs to be done. If someone is being a dick I will be twice the dick they ever were. My inner Andy only really ever comes out during my firefighting...but even then I'm just giggling with energy. Like I said, my Bender shines the most - and most people HATE me for my personality - but I say screw em. lol.

I have to say Sadie, you totally cracked me up with your mixture of names! I think a 'Criminally Insane Brain' would work best! I'm sure if we really tried we can come up with all sorts of weird combination names for our characters. I know in the Xmen forum they name ALL of their pairings. Its just easier that way, I think.

I could see you having a problem with Andy, Ivanna. From what I have seen from you I can't draw much at all! I'm sure if I knew you in person it would be easier to say, but just from the conversations we have had I can't compare much, lol.

Anyhow, about the punk rocker thing...I'm too much of an old loser to be that anymore! lol. Sure when I was 16 and I ran away from home, dropped out, shaved my head, and played guitar in a punk band the label fit, but....I'm just an angry loser now. lol. Those were the days though! Ha! How crazy it was! Anyone wants to see a picture of me with my blue trihawk let me know! I had a web page! hahahaha!

As for this naming business...My god, those X-Men people. Wait, what am I talking about? I'm obsessed with X-Men. And comic books in general. There was this girl today wearing a Wonder Woman t-shirt and I said "Hey, do you read the comics?" "Oh yeah"...nods head furtively..."Once." I have no faith in my peers any more.

Ack, enough babbling.

My inner Allison is around a lot, maybe not to the point of being on my own in a corner because - watch out for the comic reference! - I have that Spiderman/Peter Parker way of dealing with stress through babbling. In case you hadn't noticed. So when I'm upset I actually talk more to mask the fact that I'm upset. Sometimes it works. I'm fairly sporty so there's my inner Andy. My inner Bender is everything that I want to say but hardly ever do - though it feels pretty good to be bad when I do say what I'm thinking - and my inner Brian is also the babbling, so completely. Plus I'm such a nerd, and I'm under insane amounts of pressure from my parents.

Stopping now. I've seriously got to get a handle on this talking/typing thing.

I know not everybody has an inner Claire, that was why I said 'most of us' and not 'everyone'.

And finally yesterday I noticed a similarity between Andy and me. It wasn't that I hadn't noticed it in Andy, but I didn't know I was like that, lol. Both of us are freakingly proud. Pride is a big thing for both of us. Yay! Now that I found something in commom with him, it'll be easier for me to write him!

Yes! Another comic book geek! hahahaha, I'm so bad that it isn't even funny. I make folders for every different time line that I have and stash them away in my handy dandy comic book friendly box! LOL. Now I know you must have just cocked eyebrows at me! I have seen some funny comic book t-shirts too. It is very sad though that so many people claim to be super hero obsessed and they don't even read comics. It infuriates me! I just think 'POSEUR!' People who WISH they were geeks...sigh.

Sigh I wish I rambled when stressed. I just explode. My anger is my big downfall (and like Ivanna, my pride gets me too!). I think it would be safe to say we all have an inner Brian...would we be here obsessing over a movie in our little club if we didn't? LOL.

I laughed, Ivanna, when you had to tell your inner Claire to shut up. I would tell my inner Bender to shut up, but I would probably just get ** and go hit something instead, lol.

I was seventeen years old (it was taken just under three years ago). I'm the closest to the lens and I have the large blue trihawk. That was my band I played in for about a year and a half. Sadly, band members took off to South America...for fun. lol. But it was great while it lasted. 'Heavy Metal Vomit Parties'...yeah, those were the days! ;)

Kristen, along with a love of comic books and a lack of an inner Claire I also share the fact that...I have a mohawk too! No, I'm lying. I'd like to, but I'm pretty sure my stuck up Christian private school wouldn't take too kindly to that. What I was actually going to say was that I play bass as well....Only currently, I kind of suck. Which sucks twice as much because there's this band that needs a bassist, but I'm not good enough, really. Blah.

Hahahaha, mohawks rule. It was weird when I took a bic to it, because it didn't feel so smooth, but with just a pair of electric clippers, my head was as smooth as a baby's butt! lol.

Man, I went to a Catholic High School, but it wasn't private. My principal thought I was crazy. He once gave me 80 consecutive detentions. I thought that was pretty funny, and apparently he didn't. Oh well, some people just don't have a sense of humour.

Hahahaha I laugh at the image of a mohawked, pregnant Ivanna. Oh, I would love to hang out with you then! Ha! That would be way too funny!

I had horrid teachers in high school, one died of pneumonia (she wuz an oldie) and i actually threw a party! I'm so horrible!

That's ok, because if Vernon died, Bender would throw a freaking parade and ask to have the day added to the calendar as a national holiday!

LOL, you know I have had this idea in my head to write a fic about Vernon's funeral...what do you guys think? It would just be something held in the school (like a memorial), only a one shot, and just student thoughts (well TBC). I have been juggling it for awhile now.

LOL, I was horrible to my teachers too. One guy I had was the school basketball coach and he was a TOTAL prick. Always cutting people down and telling them we would never make it anywhere in life. One day I turned my desk around backwards so I wouldn't have to look at him. hahahaha. Then that same day I just started replying to him - everything he said - with 'Yes, heil hitler!' all the rest of the bad kids started to do it too...and then we did it the rest of the year. Man, that prick got me expelled for the rest of the year when there was ony a month and a half left! Oh...but he got his...hahahaha!

Bender probably would be very mean about Vernon's death. I could see him cracking unacceptable jokes, hehehe. This IS Bender we are talking about here!

The heil hilter story was funny. Wish i did that to my economics teacher...all of us in her class wanted to beat the living crap out of her. On halloween that year, a girl sitting near me pretended to have an exorcism! Funny!

I love when ally talk with Andy about her life because Andy looks like he really cares and Allison shows something about her.

And the closet with john an claire I love the way he smiles at here and how he is so surprised when she kisses him, and when he says no moving his head as a yes!! oooh I love John Bender scene.

I also love when Bender is acting like Brians father and the look of everyone when he is saying all those things, they look as if they hope their lifes were that way.

I know this is off topic, but i don't know which thread to put this in (i think there should be a general discussion thread)!

I had this awesome dream last night. I was dressed as Allison from TBC and was sitting at a table in a a cafeteria-type setting with Andy, Claire, and Brian (for some reason Bender was absent from my dream....the NERVE of my subconscious!)Andy was in love with me, but i wasn't Allison, i was me! After some convo, i suddenly faint, and Andy cradles me in his arms (swoon)and i suddenly randomly find me (normla me) and Andy in a casino at Niagara Falls, sitting at a slot machine, and suddenly i get 3 sevens, and all this Japanese Yen falls out! It was totally bizarre!

Anyway, i just wanted to letcha know how insane my dreams can be. I mean come ON! NO Bender?!?!
