Later, the ship touched down at Kilika Island, to meet Nooj at the new Youth League Headquarters.

"Hey, Yunie!" Rikku squealed, excitedly. "D'you remember when we stole that sphere right outta New Yevon and the Youth League's hands?"

Danielle glanced over at Rikku, a bit surprised by her excited nature. She obviously hadn't hung around people much before. "I recall hearing about that..."

"We caused quite a stir." Yuna smiled at the memory. "But we nearly left the sphere behind - Paine remembered to pick it up at the last moment!"

Paine merely went, "Hm." And looked around. "Are we going or what?"

Nooj was waiting to greet them, along with...

"Canpa! Edas!" Lyibe's face brightened up immensely as she saw the two horses. She ran striaght up to them and threw her arms around Canpa's neck, reaching out to stroke Edas.

"Lady Yuna, I wasn't expecting the honour." Nooj said.

"Weren't you? But I told Rikku-" Yuna looked at her cousin.

"Unreliable as usual." Gippal teased. "Hey, Noojster. How's it hanging?"

"Everyone's settling in to the new base. The residents here welcomed us quite nicely, so we're pretty happy here, thank you." Nooj replied. "And Baralai. How's everything at New Yevon HQ?"

"Hopefully they haven't got too unorganised since I've been away!" Baralai chuckled.

"Well, is there a reason for your visit?"

"There is." Yuna replied. "We were wondering if you've been having many fiend problems?"

"Your Friendly Neighbourhood Gullwings back in business or something?"

"That's what I thought," Gippal replied. "But no. Something's up - there's a load of creatures about called Necroshadows. Our...friend here can tell you more if you wish," Gippal gestured to Danielle, "But right now we just need an answer to that question."

"Nothing unusual." Nooj remarked.

Danielle stood with her arms folded, thinking. So, Mystic wasn't here yet... That was a relief. She really wasn't wanting to face her just yet... The others didn't know it, but Danielle was still recovering. She wasn't in shape to take on that creature. "Well, just keep an eye out for anything suspicious..."

"Don't worry, we will. We heard about the attacks on Luca, Bevelle and Djose. I was wondering if there was any information you could give us, apart from the fact that they can shapeshift and that they're called Necroshadows."

"Well... They sorta work on a principle akin to werewolves... You get bit, you become one yourself. But the difference is that the person doesn't have any control of themselves. They lose themself to darkness and become a tool for the one who turned them into the monster." She closed her eyes, thinking. "It may be possible for a person to return to normal, though."

"So you think there may be a possible way to reverse the effects." Nooj nodded thoughtfully. He turned around and called, "Siaoryu! I think we've got some information!"

A woman in a white outfit came to join them. "This is Saoiryu. She's been studying these Necroshadows and is trying to come up with a way of eradicating them."

"It's an honour, Lady Yuna." Saoiryu bowed in respect.

(I can hardly spell my character's name!)

"Not much." Saoiryu sighed. "We've found a weakness to Holy and sleep, but that's about it. They're most often in a wolf-like form but the most common Necrshadow is one that can shift from a wolf form to a Zu form. There's been reports of the boss as a huge wolf that can change into a woman. However, I did happen to overhear a bit of your conversation - You said they were like werewolves, but you think the change can be cured?"

Danielle nodded. "As long as a person hasn't been one for too long, they can be cured by killing the one who turned them into a Necroshadow."

"I see." Saoiryu creased her forehead in thought. She obviously was a great thinker.

"I noticed Gippal and Baralai seem to be travelling with you." Nooj remarked. "Well, I don't want the Youth League to be left out, but I'm not good for running around Spira with. Would you take Saoiryu in my place?"

Saoiryu's eyes widened. "Representing the Youth League?" she gasped. "Oh please say yes, Lady Yuna!"

Yuna smiled. "It's fine with me. Although you'll have to start calling me Yuna." Yuna looked to the others for any complaints.

"Yey! Saoiryu of the Youth League is joining the Gullwings! That just leaves the Leblanc Syndicate..." Rikku grimaced.

"Welcome to the team." Gippal said. Rikku looked jealous as he shook Saoiryu's hand.

"It's good to have all the groups of Spira united." Baralai added.

Paine merely nodded her head.

"I'm Lyibe, nice to meet you."

"My name is Tzu. It's a pleasure to make your acquaintance."

"Will you stay for the night?" Nooj requested. "We have rooms ready for visitors, and it would give Saoiryu time to pack all her notes and belongings. You could also inspect the new base, see if you like it."

Nooj led everyone into the headquarters except Lyibe, Edas and Canpa. Lyibe's attention had been aroused by a group of chocobo riders who suddenly dashed past.

"Hmm." Lyibe murmured. "You guys fast?"

"We raced." Edas tossed his head proudly. "Headed for the Grand National, I was."

"Hmph. Steeplechasing was never really my style. I was always a flat racer, until I came to England. I was good enough to compete with the colts in the Triple Crown." Canpa said dismissively.

"Which one of you would be faster, then?"

"I would be." Canpa said. "Steeplechasing is more about endurance than speed, whereas flat racing really needs you to get up and go, go, go!"

"Steeplechasing requires speed!" Edas snorted, insulted. "Ever felt like you can't go on, that you've uysed up your endurance, yet still be able to dash for your life?"

"That is often felt in flat racing. You try to sprint; we succeed."

Lyibe rolled her eyes and turned away from their bickering. The boys on their chocobos had headed off to the woods, and Lyibe had overheard plans to race. "You guys wanna race again? Well, we'll see whether you're still in form." she leapt onto Canpa's back.

"Still in form! You think, after racing round half of Spira, we wouldn't still be in form!"

Danielle followed after Nooj and the others quietly, thinking to herself. Did they know that Paine and she were Necroshadows now...? Hopefully not. On that thought, she felt a twinge of guilt. She hadn't told them that there was no hope for her to be normal again.

"Blimey, I knew girls were bad racers, but what the heck is she riding?" One of the boys jeered.

"The NAME is Canpa." Canpa whinnied, insutled. "And this is Edas."

"It talks as well!"

"SHE!"

Danielle wandered off on her own, hands behind her head, a distant look on her face. She wasn't really paying attention to anything that was going on around her.

"We're very happy with our new HQ," Nooj remarked. "It's spacier and a lot safer. We have training facilities out back and a good command room. We even have a couple of chocobo stables."

"I wonder if Canpa and Edas would fit in any of them." Paine muttered under her breath.

Nooj heard. "You mean the horses? Well, I'm sure we could expand some to make them spacier, but I think they may prefer to live out wild."

((Just until Danielle rejoins the group. If you like, you could make up a few characters and we could go into that scene with Lyibe, rather than Lyibe talking about it afterwards. And yeah, have Rikku, she's pretty easy to play. just be hyper! - or the opposite of Danielle))

"What's this about them being from another world?" Nooj asked.

"Well, we don't know exactly what happened." Yuna replied. "Maybe their was a tear in some kind of fabric between two universes - I don't know. What's for sure is, they keep talking about a lot of stuff we've never heard of."

"Yeah, like Grand Nationals and Red Rums and racecourses." Gippal replied.

"And Flat Racing and Steeplechasing." Baralai added.

Rikku lowered her voice, talking to Yuna in a whisper now. "But think about it, Yunie... Danielle never told us anything about herself. And why wouldn't we have heard of someone like her before all this weird stuff started happening...?"
