The first time Lulu saw Tidus, she gasped, did a double take, and asked, "Who... ARE you?" And that night, she had the fight where she told Wakka, "He does look a lot like Chappu, but he isn't Chappu." There's also the fight on the steps of Kilika temple where Lulu blows her top and tells Wakka that Tidus isn't a replacement for Chappu.

So... Chappu's lover thinks Tidus looks like him, and Chappu's brother thinks Tidus look like him. Regardless of the graphics quality, I'm assuming that he really DOES look like him.

In fact, Chappu does have the exact same body and face polygon model as Tidus' low-polygon model -- the difference is the coloring, hair, and clothes, which are enough that many people don't see the resemblance!

So the original FFX script made a big deal about Tidus looking like Chappu, but then, the writers of X-2 came up with a NEW plot making Tidus a Shuyin clone instead, and dodged or ignored the "well then, why did CHAPPU look like Shuyin?" question.

That's probably why you might see it... then again, there are so many repeats of the same generic NPC it's not funny.

There must be, like, a whole line of sisters who all have really short hair and that denim-looking dress in the game... Know who I'm talking about?

And who, and where, is Wantz's and O'aka's little sister? I never saw her in either game.

By the way, I found this too while editing my script today (backtracking to Luca after visiting Guadosalam):

Now you've gotten me all intrigued! Am I getting fooled because the characters' in-game comments made me look for similarities that aren't there?

I think it's the same model with a different skin, but they've copied the eyebrows, eyes and nose from Tidus onto Chappu and widened the mouth slightly. Or am I just seeing things?

The non-named npcs get recycled all over the place, but apart from Ginnem and Belgemine, the named npcs have unique models. EDIT: Oh, right, some of the blitz players are also clones.

Ya, I think X-2 just overlooked the whole "Tidus looks like Chappu" thing to thrust Shuyin into the story.

i wasn't keen on X-2 to be honest, except i liked Paine~ i kept wondering why there was no mention of Chappu and Shuyin's resemblence.

My avatar's name is Meru, and she's a main character from the Legend of Dragoon. It's a good game. But it was made to compete with FFVII....and we all know which game became more popular. So LOD is almost unheard of. Like I said, it's a good game (much better graphics than FFVII) and it's got the best character development I've seen out of all the ff games I've played...even FFX. But it's a little cliched.

I think she's what keeps everyone focussed. I mean sure Auron kinda takes the leadership role but he more there becasue he has to be. Lulu is there becasue she cares about Yuna. I think though towards the end of the journey Lulu starts to loose a bit of hope, no not hope...she begins to feel like history will repeat itself and she will fail again but guess who is right there to help her out.....WAKKA
