Topic: Parodies are the Saving Boat of our soul
Many people like parodies. Why? Well, I'll tell you why! Well, the original characters don't always do a GREAT work when on the real movie, so what if we changed the characetrs? It could've been a better movie, and great to watch! That's just my opinion!

Yes, yes, that is why parodies are born! Thank you Alter Shead! Thank you! Thank you!

Just to tell you why parodies are born, taht's my point!

I think of parodies differently. When I write a parody, I don't change a character I don't like as much into a character I do like (For instance, I wouldn't change Frollo into Bowser for no reason) but I rather see it as a way to make creative changes to the plot and add some of own jokes, not attempt to top the movie. After all, the Muppet Christmas Carol didn't directly copy the book. They added in jokes, new characters, and original songs. I didn't like Treasure Planet as much as other Disney movies, but I saw it as a good parody.

No they don't. Caffine does.

I agree with you Alter Shead! Paradoys are also born from the imagionation and creativity. It seems that Sollom has no imagionation at all! So thereforth, the Omniburn Knights are going down with their imagionationless ship! Who's with us?

This topic keeps getting gayer and gayer each post. I mean, saving boats? Parodies were made to make people laugh. Not copy a script and change the names. If you people want to se an ACTUAL parody, go rent a Mel Brooks film.

You wanna know what's getting gayer and gayer in this topic? Its to have to listen to your replies in this topic, the one I created! Instead of spoiling your mind in front of a computer, go read books who have words changed, but with the same meaning! I don't question your opinion, everyone has different opinions, but "geting gayer and gayer"... you're disrespecting other people's opinion, and disrespecting people at the same time.

You have a point. But my point is that these so called "parodies" aren't parodies in definition. A parody is where you take something like a book or a movie and take it's basic idea, rearange it, and then add a bunch of funny things in it. Parodies are NOT copied word for word. I rest my case.

koook160 is right. Changing the names of characters does nothing. The gold of a true parody lies in adding in new funny jokes, new songs, new characters, clever changes!

Something told me that you would agree, Blue Paratroopa. You've given MANY clear hints that you hate these so-called parodies in your profile. I'm guessing you don't like Neros that much, huh?

Dr. Dude, will you just shut up?! When you flame someone, you lose the right to diss flamers. At least Solomn doesn't pretend to be something else!!! That's right, traitor, your even worse than my old partner!

Just shut up and stop pretending to know what you don't understand!!!!!!

I can't freaking believe that I actually had this stupid idea of creating this topic... If I knew that people would start fighting, I wouldn't have created it. C'MON PEOPLE, THIS TOPIC IS here so I UNDERSTAND WHAT ARE THE OTHER IDEAS OF PARODIES, NOT ABOUT FLAMERS AND SUCH... I know everything I need about flamers, ya know... And Dr.Dude, the OmniBurn Knights are people who flame to stop everyone from doing what they don't want.

Ok people, will you stop fighting, or do I have to take some drastic topics in here? Ya really don't wanna see how emotioneless I can get when I try to stop fights... And now, let's get this topic on the line, everybody...

But I didn't say- hey wait a minute! (Realizes that Sam insulted me and faces him) Uh... You do know that when you insult people you become a flamer right? It says that in the offical fanfiction.net author handbook! (Holds out handbook) And don't think I'm insulting you. The book said that, I didn't! Now if you'll excuse me, I have to make a protest sign about flamers. (Goes off the forum page)

I insulted you in this forum, Dr Dude. I have yet to flame everyone for no reason. Yeah, thats right, I know what you're doing.

I know what he's doing, too. He's playing coward. But this is getting off topic. Dr. Dude can go be a n00b elsewhere, this topic is about parodies.

I never said I didn't like anyone. I'm just talking about parodies.
#22 Jun 25th 2006, 12:46pm
Dr.Dude
(Being sarcastic) Very funny kook, and I suppose that I'm not talking about paradoys, with flamers flaming my friends! And there was that time Sollomn the stupid used my name to flame people! And Sam, you're missing the point. Paradoys don't just come from your imagination, they also come from the heart, and when I say this, I speak for all people that do paradoys, especially my friends. So you may make fun of me, flame me all you want, insult me all you want, but there is one thing that you won't ever make fun of: my imagination. So thereforth, I hereby place a court inside this forum so that we can finally get this war settled. Who's with me?
#23 Jun 26th 2006, 12:23pm

And besides Sam, the only traitor I see around here, is you!

And another thing: when you make these "deleted scenes", your copying lyrics to songs, which means you LACK imagination.
#26 Jun 26th 2006, 1:45pm
Dr.Dude
Oh really Koook boy? Then ask some of the major authors here. Besides, I make the deleted scenes because Neros asks me to. He even said I make a great partner in his fanfiction team, so thereforth, think of a better comeback.

Jeez, is it so hard to understand what I said? STOP THIS FREAKING DISCUSSION, ALREADY! I mean, you writters shouldn't fight each others. It's like putting a writter flaming against himself. You're all equal, not in appearance, but in writting style. You may not see it, cause it took me time to see this, but we all like writting, either parodies or other stuff. It's the art that counts, not the kind of art! So what if parodies isn't copying, or it may even be. You like them, don't you? If you didn't like them, then why the hell would you writte about it, or talk about them? Like for example, I don't like Slash. So I just ignore it, don't even open its webpage. Just read the summary, and go find another story. So what now, you can't accuse someone for understanding the concept of Parody wrong, cause maybe even you may be understanding it wrong. Parodies, or whatever we call it have many understandings, as long as they stay in topic! And as I noticed for almost a day, you're all fighting for the REAL understanding of what is a parody, and maybe not noticing if they're wrong or not. I created this topic so I could understand what was the other writters' ideas of parodies. Not to see a bunch of great writters fighting against each others. So please, will someone open its mind, and see that this fighting is wrong? It's just... sick! So, who has the intelligence to stop it?

Did you get it posted? I noticed a handful of those when they came in a while ago.

Many people like parodies.

Indeed they do. I noticed. Personally, I don't see the what the hype is about, but that's just my opinion. I won't speak for others.

Yes, but... Don't you think there is a LOT of parodies? I mean, obviously you're doing crossovers, but take it in comparison with game X-overs. At least they use crossover between worlds to mix situations. Please don't look mad at me, it's only a suggestion.

Love parodies. I've written several myself. I say they are a result of bored writers sitting at their computers with nothing to do. Which is how I usually end up with crap loads of, well, crap. It makes me happy, what else can a parody writer say? ;)

Agent C.H.A.O.S.

Hate to say this but if the came from the heart, then they would show a little more creativity than just replacing the characters and still uses th same films as template over and over again. Part of writing a fanfiction is using your imagionation and it actually is a large part of writing. I think that if some one wants to write a good parody, they have to use their imagionation to work with the film and put a little heart into it to add some chemestry.
