mishkiddaTopic: Writing good BR OC fic So, it seems a popular genre of BR fic involves a class invented by the author playing the game. My fic does, I just started writing it for fun to see what would happen if some different characters were thrown together. Also don´t think my knowledge of Japanese culture/education is really up to writing anything very indepth based on the book characters, much less when the setting is a grim alternate future which would require me doing research. Am sticking to the principle of ´write what you know´.I was wondering if anyone had any tips/thoughts about how to write a decent BR fic featuring a class of OCs. How do you make the audience care about 40+ figments of the writer´s imagination, how do you keep the plot interesting, should a different setting/format from the book be chosen to avoid covering old ground, do you change the weapons pool etc. Ideas? |

Glacial Fangthe first chapter could use some revising its pretty confusingand always remember to each their own every character is different don't change that. last is make plot holes... their irritating to hell but keeps readers to review or the sort ^^ |

mishkiddaYou're right, I've been away a month and realised that some serious revision is needed, and a rewrite of the beginning to reduce the confusion. Ah well, it's easier to write when you know where the plot's going. Making the characters really distinct is very important I think, esp. when writing OCs - don't know about other readers but I have real trouble remembering who's who in a fic with loads of them, am more likely to remember a personality trait/behaviour pattern than a name.Plot holes, eh? Hmm, you'd have to get them right so it keeps the reader on the edge of their seat, rather than thinking 'the writer has just fallen into their own logical inconsistency', but could be fun. |

mishkiddaGoing all right, thanks. I can't do much at the moment with it since I just moved countries, to the Middle East where organising everything takes weeks, especially getting a residence permit. Once I get internet sorted at home, writing and updating will be definitely easier. I keep getting ideas of how to horribly alter the plot beyond all recognition. 15000 words into a story is not a good time to do that... |
