What character is just the coolest for you to dictate? For me they would be Terra and Slade. Slade because he is so smooth and compelling, who gets the best lines, and Terra, because I adore her clumsiness and her tragic personality.

hands down. She's got a sense of humor that borders on cruel at times, literary satire others. The way she holds herself, moves, her general body language speaks as much as her words, and its very easily interpreted. The obvious drive for respect, the exasperation and slightly short fuse when it comes to idiocy, she's just so much fun.

Anyways, I love writing lots of characters, but there was one particular time when I had a ton of fun writing with Raven, Beast Boy, and a little bit of Terra. If you read chapter 9 of Teen Normals, you'll see why it was so much fun. I don't think they could have been more in character, and the scene was just plain funny. I'd put the scene in this post, but that's not allowed, and you wouldn't know what was going on anyways if you haven't read the story. But basically it's BB annoying Raven, she suggests bugging Terra, then there's a phone conversation, and... yeah. You have to read the whole story first. :( I also have fun with Starfire. I make her say funny things too. I can also give hilarious "blonde" lines to Terra. I don't mean blonde jokes, I'm talking about, "She stereotypes blondes! How dare she!" sorts of things. ^^ I think Slade is really hard. And I don't really know Jinx well enough to write about her. Lightspeed helped me know what she's like beyond her evil actions, but I never really thought about her character that deeply.

As for Slade being hard, I find him somewhat easy for me, but yeah, he is very intimidating, especially to newtimers who haven't done him--I was very worried about getting him wrong when I first started writing his character in my stories. When you get a Titan wrong it's not as bad as getting Slade wrong--if a story has a badly-written Slade I just can't take it seriously. And some people just don't realize HOW evil and sophisticated he is. Slade isn't evil because he does bad things--he's evil because of the things that go on in his head. And too often we see some him commit some random deed rather than stay true to his nature in fics. Too often someone will make Slade act more like Brother Blood or Deathstroke (his comic persona) rather than his actual self. As for Jinx, I haven't written her much, but she seems like a tough character to crack. Usually I am great with characterization but she is just so mysterious to me. How does her mind work? One day she's so vicious, the next she's not. I'd like to explore her more because I can sense the awesome beauty beneath that exterior. *reaches out to touch*

Oh, and by the way guys--I will not tolerate words like "**" on my forum.

Well, ever since I've started on fanfiction, Slade's been easier for me, but I still think he's hard. Probably because I don't write about him much... Oh... my... gosh... I've read some of the WORST Slade stories! One time, this author, who had very bad narration skills, wrote down OOC dialogue (can't remember what he said) and then the narrator said, "Slade said in his 'MWAHAHA I'm evil' voice." And I just thought, "Umm... Slade doesn't HAVE a 'MWAHAHA I'm evil' voice..." It's sad how people do this to us. Why can't they be geekier and find out what the characters are like? I mean, if you're geeky enough to want a fanfiction account, then you SHOULD be geeky enough to know the characters you're writing about. I mean, honestly... -_-u

@Vandagirl Lmao! Where was that story? Please, I wanna see that "Slade said in his MWAHAHA I'm evil voice."!!! I'll laugh at how hilariously horrid it is! (I know, I'm such a mean girl...) AND ITS SKUNT U IDIOT (RavenSucks) NOT **...wait, don't use that EITHER of those words...you're too annoying...I bet you're a trini!-glares-

I adore writing about Terra and Starfire. It's just so....stimulating for me. They just really click in my head, and it's never a dull moment when I write a scene with one or both of them in it. -Cid

Maybe Robin, but only because most fanfics featuring him have to be emotional and I just love that... And also for the same reason people like to write Slade: OOCness. I won't say more. Also, Remix? You sound just like K from TitansGo.net... (Not an insult...)

This seems like an interesting discussion, so I'll take a whack at it. My *favorite* character to write would probably be Slade. He intimidated me for a long time but I've improved a bit--and getting him right is very rewarding. I can have a lot of fun with his lines because he's so intelligent and so utterly over-the-top with all the psychological manipulation. One of the only times in TT fic when I'm actually allowed to use my full vocabulary. Slade is the most fun but the easiest character for me is definitely Terra. That's actually how I got into TT fic: I could hear her voice so distinctly. I really have no idea why she's easy for me, because we are nothing alike in any sense. Possibly, it has to do with my experience with kids her age and the way they think. My biggest challenge in general is Beast Boy but I'm not the best with either Starfire or Raven's dialogue. Starfire because of the weird sentence structure and language; Raven because I'm not a sarcastic person at all.

Robin is a competent leader who can be very determined and obsessive at times. Starfire is naive, innocent, and happy. A very emotional person and a good friend. Not to mention a fierce fighter. Beast Boy is a cheerful guy with a sense of humor that hardly anyone appreciates. But he can be serious and take charge in situations. Cyborg is a big guy with a big heart and a cool attitude. He's always there for his friends in rough times. Raven is gloomy and cynical but not gothic. She's doesn't want to show emotions because it could destroy her and all those close to her. Terra is a outgoing, enerjetic girl who tries her hardest to get along with her teammates. She's very troubled and insecure at heart. Slade is super intelligant and super strong. He always has plans but keeps his motives secret. And he's very, very evil but not pure evil. These are the characterizations I got from the show. Hopefully, they're not too bad. OOCness annoys the living hell out of me. (Hence my immense dislike for DancingPickle101 and her fics.)

Well, maybe because most of the fics here are centred on him, or include him as a main side character, so you get to know him really well. Im also quite well versed on his history so its easier to write his POV and relate it to his past, as compared to maybe Raven or Starfire, which I'm not too big on,
|
|||
Okay. Even though I stink at the personalities, I do like writing beastboy. He is kinda fun. I dont know why. I havent even done a story on him yet. I cant get the characters in character, but even so, Im trying.

Of the offical Titans, Raven. She has so many dyanmic that there is hardly a dull moment, also, since she has always been shaded, you can add without making it seems to odd. Though, any TT character: Slade... I can't wait until I have time to start my TT story through the eyes of Slade. Because... Everyone loves playing the bad guy.
|
|||
And I definetly love using my own creations the best. As for the the best original Titan I do like Raven the best. Cyborg is great too, and everyone loves Robin. Really the only character I don't like writing about is Beastboy. I kinda make Starfire into a more serious persona than she is normally used or seen. Oh...I forgot about Terra...she's pretty fun to write, but it depends on whether or not she's used as evil or good. I prefer to write as the pretending to be good Terra. Though, if you branch it out to the honorary Titans I really love Jericho...and I like Jinx and Kid Flash too, they're pretty good to write for as well. I can't decided which one is the best, but I do have my favorites.

Raven gets a mention because she has such potential for funny one-liners.

Right. I find I am doing their personalites better. I need to practice on the others titans. But I mostly am A Raven fic writer. I seem to have her in better character. I am still making her too emotionless for my taste, and am trying to improve. I am doing a oneshot on Beastboy, so mabye I can get him right there.

What? Oh, yes, well I suppose my stories tend to be rather heavily concentrating on Raven. What can I say? I like her. Fine, if you're going to put a gun to my head, I would probably put her down as my favourite for now. You can mess about with her plenty, as long as you establish certain rules for yourself. Simply put, stick to her character as dictated in the show, and deviate only if you have significant justification. I don't mean that she's going to break down into tears because... I don't know, she had to reject BB's advances. Don't get me wrong, I can see why she might cry, but you're going to have to handle that one very carefully. Actually, I suppose this should go into the section about characterisations, but one of the reasons I like the Titans as fan fiction subjects is that they make up a really interesting group of characters. I think seperating them can be hard because they were designed as a team of personalities as well as a team of heroes. In a group scene, there's an easy usage for all of them, if you are willing to think about it. I usually try to keep those scenes fairly simple anyway. The key is to have a point to such a scene, that way, people won't really be thinking hard about your characterisations (as long as they're generally on the money). Okay, I'm probably talking rubbish now, but I shall go on to make one further point. Another advantage of the Titans is that they make many excellent pairs. BB and Cy, BB and Rae, Star and Rae, Star and Rob, etc. You can mix it up a little, too, by mixing who the pairs are in any given scene. That also gives the second pair something to talk about. And you can interrupt a pair with a third person temporarily. There's plenty to do. I do this plenty in my first story, although always make sure there's a point or a comedy piece to move it forward. I'm not going to lie to you though, it's hard to write good comedy. Suck it up!
