There's gonna be a new Inuyasha short, not new Ranma episodes

Anime News Network says the exhibition that opened Wednesday had both new Inuyasha and Ranma 1/2 shorts. From

Lol, whut? I don't even remember that one. Why couldn't they have done one of the cool later fights.

It's in volume 32 (VIZ) or 34 (original Japanese), second to last chapter. Happosai tries to put Ranma to sleep with some incense, but Akane breathes it instead. She goes to school, where she falls asleep and no one can wake her up. She acts out things which are taking place in her dreams. Ukyo tries to tie her up, but Akane tears the ropes apart. Nabiki charges Ranma for the antidote, which turns out to be mosquito repellant.

I guess they think they can do some fun things with Akane acting out the dreams.

It really is a shame they're not doing one of the more epic storylines; the fact that the Musk Dynasty arc remains unanimated is a true bummer. Probably they probably weren't looking to go into that much depth/cost for a one-off thing.

Still, getting a new animation is an awesome thing one way or another, even if it's just one of the random throwaway plots. And who knows? If it does well enough, maybe that'll convince them to animate one of the more meaty stories.

That was a pretty spiffy storyline, mainly because of the dreams. I would have preferred Musk though, obviously.

And was I the only one 'wtf'ing at Ranma combining the Shishi Hokodan and the Mouku Takabisha? That thing looked worthy of DBZ...

Well, it is theoretically possible. The Shishi Hokodan seems to feed on anger just as well as it feeds on depression. So really, it's kind of a yin-yang thing. You could combine the powers of good and bad for a blast that is greater than the sum of its parts, it just wouldn't be easy.

And considering how terrible ranma is at using the Shishi Hokodan, it'd be the kind of move he wouldn't be able to replicate very often.

No Herb... oh well, guess it was too much to hope for. It's the one arc I truly miss in the anime, but it is probably more than a single episode of content anyway.

I'd say it'd be a two parter at least, if not a movie.

I can't say that I was terribly surprised. The clip was pretty obviously centered around Ataru behaving like a lech and getting his just desserts. Even Inuyasha only got one mild sit.

in that case, shouldn't she have pounded Ataru? she seems to have a perversion sense anyway.

But Akane doesn't have any energy attacks. The whole joke was about Ataru getting simultaneously fried by three separate energy attacks. So if Akane was present, she either would have pounded Ataru physically for treating her the way he did Lum and onna-Ranma, or she would have bashed Ranma over some misunderstanding (or maybe not a misunderstanding, if Ranma let his tongue run off by itself as usual), but either of these would have been a distraction from the little plot they were setting up.
