Topic: Welcome
Made thanks to the wonderful, thoughtful debates between Tiger and Seo in my FF8 forum over FF7. See the conflict? They inspired me to make a place where I can watch all of you pretties debate and pick apart Final Fantasies. -faint smirk-

Here's a paradox I don't quite get: How, in FFX, can the party fight (and presumably destroy, although I haven't seen the end of the fight) Braska's Final Aeon when Yu Yevon possesses any Final Aeon that destroys a Sin? Doesn't Braska's Final Aeon = Sin? If Braska's Final Aeon != (

Sin is nothing more than the Final Aeon of the last Summoner to defeat Sin. Yu Yevon is what causes the Final Aeon to become Sin.

Here's the sequence (and it contains SPOILERS, by the way):

Yu Yevon Posseses powerful Aeon.

Aeon becomes Sin.

Sin wrecks havoc.

Summoner goes and sacrifices one of his or her guardians to form the Final Aeon.

If the Final Aeon is strong enough, it will kill Sin.

Yu Yevon leaves the dead Sin and posseses, instead, the Final Aeon, who is left behind.

Some years go by while the Final Aeon / Yu Yevon combo is gathering strength and whatnot.

Sin returns!

Repeat and rinse.

SO... Braska's Final Aeon /is/ Sin, and whenever you're fighting Sin, you're fighting it.

Eventually, you wind up meeting Jecht's... um.. soul turned Fayth, I guess you could call it, which is what enables the Aeon to exist. Anyway, you talk to him a bit, then wind up fighting with this final Aeon.

You beat it to a pulp. So, since you defeated it with your own power and not by Yuna sacrificing herself and one of her guardians to form her own Final Aeon, Yu Yevon goes and starts to posses all of Yuna's Aeons, which you then defeat in whatever order you pick.

Then, once they're all dead, you can finally fight Yu Yevon. If you're cool, you beat him. If not, game over... haha.

Then, there's the endgame. Yay!

Hope that clears things up...?

The one complaint I have with the whole Sin resurgence thing is that if sopme of the Summoners sacrificed had quite a few guardians, then how come the tale as laid out above never made it to the populous? One would figure that in 1000 years of back-and-forth arse-kicking someone would survive long enough to get the word out that someone needed to find a better way to do things...

There are multiple answers to that:

1) Yunalesca might very well kill off any extra guardians.

2) The Summoners and Guardians believe in the cover story up until the bitter end. Also, although Sin comes back, each time they hope that the defeat of Sin will be permanent.

3) Everyone (sans Al Behd) is brought up ingrained with this idea about how the world works. If such ideas are ingrained from pretty much birth in the majority of people, then changing their minds about that idea is extremely hard, if not impossible. Therefore, even if one of the Guardians did know the truth and come back and tell everyone, the church of Yevon (which is, save for its highest leaders, ignorant to the truth, anyway) and the common people would brand that Guardian as having gone insane or as being a heretic. People don't want to hear that their entire belief system, the brief bit of hope that keeps them afloat, is wrong and needs changing; only if incontrovertable proof is shoved down their throats do they maybe change - but even then, only maybe. The Guardian who would come back and tell the truth wouldn't have any proof, really.

Alright chickies, why don't y'all make a proper thread for this? This is just a welcome-to-the-forum thread. XD

Maybe because everyone asks their questions here, and if they aren't answered on this board, then the person won't know there's a reply?

-grins- See? There's a reason!! =D

But yeah... maybe all future debate can be moved...?

-playful poke- That why you make threads for your questions and then people reply in those, silly. XD

-pokeback- Yes, but I haven't been asking any questions - just replying to them. =)
