::jumps up and down:: Yay! Okay, I think Joanne is one of the best characters in RENT!!! I love her with Maureen.

Joanne is actually one of my -very- favorite characters. I love her lotz! She -is- good with Maureen, but I also like to think of MarkJoanne possibilities...(yeah I'm a sucker for weird pairings.)

I think Joanne has a lot of depth that most people overlook. It makes me sad.

I give you a zillion kudos for starting a forum in her honour. *gives kudos*

OMG YAY!!!!!!!!! LOVE FOR JOANNE IS A GOOD THING!!!!!!! Sorry, hyper. Ok, back to sanity.... not really, but we can pretend.

So... Joanne. I agree. She has a lot of depth, and she's a really cool character.

I also like how she's the only one of all of them with a real career...! :-D

Absolutely. I don't know if I can quite see JoCollins or JoRoger, but I -can- see JoBenny...though, I tend to shy away from this prospect. JoannexMark is my favorite because (although I love Maureen)if Joanne can't find what she's looking for in Maureen, and neither can Mark, I see that they can find what they need in each other.

Plus the tango is -dripping- with sexual tension. ;)

And to Joanne having a job, I say Huzzah! She makes money!

MarkJoanne is #2 only to MarkMaureen on my list. And I love Joanne. Why do people hate her?

I agree with Ethiwen. If Joanne wasn't a lesbian I would totally be rooting for her.

I love Joanne/Maureen!!

I am a total spaz for that couple, hence they are the only couple I will write.

I don't understand why people don't like them :( and I really don't understand the whole Mark/Roger obsession but that's a whole different topic

I don't know why poeople hate Joanne but come on! She's cool! I love her and I love roleplaying her, it's fun

I really can relate to Joanne of any of the characters... except for the lesbian bit of course... lol!!! I just seem to think that a lot of her principles are mine... so therefore I really like her. Not to mention that she kicks ** at singing.. lol!!! As for Mark/Joanne.... well I won't dis you or anything but I just don't really prefer it... I'm boring and like original pairings... :D

yeah i only like original pairings 2.... im so lame! i count mark/maureen and roger/april as original pairings,. altho i am writing a fic where i get mark together with april.... but i digress

I am not a huge fan of mark/maureen...I am all for Joanne/Maureen because they are so cute together!

Joanne is the best!! I dont' understand why people don't like her or Maureen/Joanne for that matter, it's depressing.

Yeah Saran VD, original pairings are awesomeness... I mean Johnathon Larson paired them up togehter so nicely who would want to go and change them all up???

idk who came up with some of these pairings... some of those peeple just need to be smacked (markroger and other slash that wasnt there to begin with for example...)

i agree with the mark/maureen thing, unless joanne and maureen break up later for a logical reason. after all, mark does still love mo...

Mark/Roger is so weird... I mean I'm not against gay people or anything (otherwise I wouldn't watch RENT) but honestly... they're like the best friends anyone could hope to be!!!! It's so unnatural!!!!

lol!!!! I think if that happened I think I'd have to get something tested... lol!!! Go ahead if you want, I'll keep an eye out for it but I'm not the kind of person to actually go to a person that likes Mark/Roger and tell them off... I much prefer talking behind backs... lol!!!! ;D Anyway, back to Joanne... isn't it interesting that she's the only bohemian with an actual job... besides Mimi but then again she's a stripper...

Yay! I'm sooooo freaking happy other people don't like Roger/Mark!! They aren't even a real couple and both are straight! It drives me nuts always seeing fics and stuff for them but yes back to the wonderful Joanne!!

I'm working on new Maureen/Joanne fics!! Yay!! Honestly they are the hottest couple especially if Idina and Tracie are playing them :D

YES!!!! Another sane person amongst us... it is terrible because people can't ever see two men having a close friendship without seeing something else in it somewhere... (I remember watching the movie for the first time and seeing Mark and Roger share that hug on the roof and thought "Wow... fanfiction probably had a field day with that one" lol!!!)

Joanne and Maureen really do make a good couple because it shows more than ever the whole "opposites attract" thing... really this whole musical does... except maybe not Roger and Mimi... well maybe they do too.. ANYWAY yeah, Joanne is awesome.

no roger and mimi r essentially opposites. i made a forum in musicals/plays (cuz fanfiction wont let me make 2 rent forums... grr...) bashing mark/roger and those sort of things, if ur interested...

yeah i agree with the opposites attract thing, and how it really shows how much mo and jo care about each other. i mean, they get back together A LOT, dont u think?

I know, some people don't like Maureen and Joanne because they say that they fight too much but really the make up as much as they fight so that has to count for something right???

I think they are supposed to break up and get back together because they don't want to admit their true feelings for one another and they actually need each other.

I don't know but it would be so cool to see what happens with them after RENT same with everyone else but mostly Mo and Jo because they are awesome!!

LOL!!!! This is true, neither of these two women seem like the type to want to admit that they are wrong so therefore... they argue. It WOULD be interesting to see what happened to this couple because they're probably the most unpredictable... in my opinion... lol!!!!!

Most people don't like Joanne because she has a 'aquired' taste of a personality. Controlling, uptight people sometimes come off as cold or unloving.

However I think Joanne is quite the opposite, she is very thoughtful, careful, and she loves with all of her being.

I often find myself relating to Joanne the most out of all of the RENT cast (although Maureen remains my favorite) I actually just finished a one shot featuring Joanne's POV and I plan another short mini series in the near future!

I love Joanne!

Yay! A topic for Joanne!

I love her. She's one of my favourite characters as well. I love how even if she's rich (being a lawyer whose family is politically connected) she doesn't act all snobbish with the Bohemians. She actually helps them (with the padlock and everything). Plus, she's deep. She has this wisdom about her.

Oh, and yeah, I'm also a BIG MarkJoanne fan! All the fanfics I'm planning to write feature this pairing! Come on, Joanne Jefferson-Cohen sounds so right!

Apparently, in one of the original workshop drafts of RENT, Mark and Roger confess to having "more than friendly" feelings for each other!

Oh, I'm such a Mark/Joanne shipper. They are totally meant for each other. Like there's this picture on Tracie Thoms' myspace of her and Anthony while filming Tango: Maureen, and it looks like he's about to kiss her... It's very cute. ^_^

I have this idea for a Mark/Joanne fic, but I just have to get it written...
