Topic: Welcome!
During my recent venture across the net, I noticed there are precious few places where Toddfans can congregate and discuss their obsessions, so I have created this forum for those of us who are both Toddfans and fanfictionally inclined. I do have a few ground rules that will have to observed.

1. Respect. This is self explanatory. Please don't be nasty.

2. Cussing. I don't mind personally if you do it, but please keep a limit on it. This is an all-ages forum.

3. Don't spam. It'll be the bake oven for you!

4. Stay on topic. This isn't the place to discuss politics or the Simpsons. Please keep it Sweeney related.

5. I operate on the three strikes system. I'd really rather not use it, it upsets to me to boot people. Except spammers, who will be immediately removed.

Heh, heh. Brilliant. It occurs to me that a forum is a great idea, as is a C2 category within the Musicals/Plays. What continuously amazes me is that all the Sweeney fics on this site are of incredibly high quality - I think they all *demand* to be collected for proper perusal. Any volunteers? (cackle)

Whoops. There is one. *slaps wrist* All I can say in my defense is that I thought I knew all the musicals C2. I guess I have to do my research better, eh? I'll go away now.

Heh. You'd think there would be an actual category of Toddfics- I mean, they have one for Wicked, We Will Rock You, Phantom of the Opera (which sort of doesn't count because it's also a book). You'd think they'd have enough respect to make one for Toddfans too!

I fell in love with dear Sweeney and his musical in September of 2005, while watching my tape of the George Hearn/Angela Lansbury version. I remember thinking, when he was singing My Friends, "OK, this guy is singing to a razor. How cool- but weird- is that?" I must say, this is definitely one of Sondheim's best works EVER.

Is that c2 up? I'll go look...YES! WOO!

XOXO Love you,

Moony

They should have more Todd fics on here! I just adore the musical!

Haha. I love ST, but some people think I'm crazy and disgusting. But the music is the one thing better than the story (which is pretty gruesome)

I love this musical. I discovered it last year (in school :D) during Stagecraft class, where we had to do a presentation on a play or musical.

One kid did Sweeney Todd. The musical is brilliant. I would've never guessed the ending if he hadn't had to summarize the plot and told us.

And the music is simply the work of a genius.

I saw Sweeney Todd last Saturday in San Francisco. For the past week, I've been a total nuisance to my friends and my teachers by raving about how awesome it is. My brother introduced me to it a while ago. ROCK ON SWEENEY!

I can't wait for the Sweeney Todd movie with Johnny Depp singing away as Sweeney, and Sasha Bar...Bar-something...whatever, the guy who plays Borat, as Pirelli. In the version of the musical I went to, Pirelli was played by a woman. I wonder if that was a deliberate insult to his character? Whatever.

My favorite songs were The Worst Pies in London and A Little Priest. I like Tobias. To bad he went cuckoo-bananas and got sent to the happy farm in a straitjacket.

I can't wait till the movie. I saw the musical and loved it and Johnny is one of my favorate actors so I can't wait to see him play Sweeney. I saw the preview and it looks awesome, yet Hollywood may still ruin it, but it is a Burton film so I don't think it will.

Oof, I realized I never introduced myself, despite having made a topic. Sorry.

I've been a Sweeney fan since 2001, when I was 11 and saw the concert (Hearn/LuPone) version on PBS. No, it's not something I should have watched as an 11-year-old, but whatever.

I am... very skeptical about the movie. It comes from watching a lot of great, complex comic books become sh*tty movies (League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, anyone?). I'm so used to things I love being un-movie-able that I lose hope at, say, a weak song in the trailer. I still plan on seeing the movie, of course, and since I work at a movie theatre and get to see movies for free, I'll probably see it many, many times, unless it REALLY sucks, in which case I'll firebomb my theatre, because what use is having a job when the Sweeney Todd movie sucks??

I'm so excited to find a spot to discuss one of my favorite musicals, Sweeney Todd. I'm proud to say I was a huge fan before the release of the movie - unlike some people I know - and the first version I heard was the 2001 concert with George Hearn and Patti LuPone. My favorite version is the 2005 revival, followed by the original Broadway cast.

Unfortunately, I've never seen it live, but the cast recordings and the concert DVD are more than enough to realize that Sweeney is brilliant.

The first time I ever even heard of Sweeney Todd was three years ago when the revival was on (Pattti LuPone, Michael Cerveris). Let's just say, twenty minutes in, and my musical theater brains were on the floor. I was in heaven. Literally, my soul came out of my body, especially during A Little Preist and the end, where he finds out he killed his wife. I will always be a huge Johnny Depp and Helena Bohnam Carter fan, but nothing can compare to the dynamics of Patti and Michael.
