Topic: Pairing Discussion - Dante/Vergil
If you are not at least open to the idea of the pairing, you should not be on this thread: don't like, don't read.

This thread is for all things related to the pairing: fic reccs, discussion, etc. etc.

Mmmmm....

Pairing.

I hate to ask, but what does pairing mean?

Well, I could have some ideas on Dante and Vergil, their relationship in the largest meaning... is pairing all about sex?

Landarr Wondering.

Yes, pairing usually indicates a romantic relationship. Since D/V bothers a lot of people, I created a seperate thread for it. If you want to talk about the characters in general, you might want to use the General Discussion thread.

I'm not bashing this pair in any way when I say this: if incest is what you like, go for it. If not, then you're a sane person. Even if they're digital characters (sadly) the concept of brotherhood is still there. If you pair them up, you favor incest. Well, I don't care if you read Dante/Vergil fics, but if incest is what you like, well, read it.

On the other hand, you can think them as just two hot bishies pairing off and...*lost in thought*

Sorry, lost myself there! ^^;

er...

i hate to bother again, but I seem unable to find "bishies" on any dictionary, so I have to ask... What does that word mean?

'Bishie' or 'bish' is slang. Next time, try an online slang dictionary.

It's a shortening of the Japanese word bishonen, meaning beautiful/handsome man/boy. You might recognise shonen from Shonen Jump? The female equivalent is bishojo, meaning beautiful girl/woman.

The English slang version often (but not always) carries a connotation that the man in question looks feminine, but I don't know if that is part of the original meaning of the word.

I hope that's helpful.

(And yes, my friends do refer to me as a walking dictionary.)

Fran, there does seem to be a problem in fandom where fraternal affection or even rivalry gets translated into romantic affection, you're right. I myself started out looking for good FRATERNAL Yami and Yugi fics in the Yu-gi-oh fandom and found that most of the ones that showed them being affectionate towards each other leaned towards shonen-ai, and slowly got corrupted.

That said, the 'twin fantasy,' having two identical (and hot, of course) lovers, or at least being able to watch said two make out is a common one among both men and women who would never consider incest in real life at all acceptable. Think of it as a 'two for the price of one' deal XD.

Yaoi seems to be the female equivalent of lesbian ** vids, it's an interesting social phenomenon... After all, if they're with another girl, they're taken, but if they're with another hot guy, that's double the eye candy.

Thanks.

Ok, you may be a walking dictionary.

But you are a GENTLE walking dictionary.

And if the walking dictionary part hurts when they say it, tell me and I'll bash them out for you.

Landarr Thankful.

I see a lot of incest in many places. The sad part is, they ENJOY it. Which makes me wonder if these people are people I could trust. That's both in this website and real life.

*sighs* Why did people corrupt yaoi? I loved it when it was all awkward with the two guys and then all the hilarious things happened between them making them see their love for each other! Whoa, long sentence... Anyways, that "formula" has been abandoned and now it's all about sex and, after that, turned to incest. I weep for the lost innocent yaoi era, lol.

~Fran

P.S.: If Dante and Vergil were not brothers and made a yaoi with them, I'd SO totally read it!! :)

I completely agree with you. I have nothing against homosexuals and even though I detest Yaoi,I wouldn't tell someone to stop writing/reading it, because if they like it I have no problem as long as I don't read it. Simple. But incest? I will wage war against it. Even though the characters in question are fictional, you have to understand that even imagination has some limits. Decency, for example. Just imagine, how would you feel if you were a celebrity (that's what they are to us, aren't they? XD) and people started pairing you up with your sibling? Nasty,eh? It is disgusting, and by using the video game characters to write incest stories, writers are only disgracing the characters they claim to love and strive so much to figure out. D/V is platonic, and that's the truth.
