what is a goth?

It's a person who wears black and a few other colours, but mostly black, eyeliner, nail polis, lipsctick. Some wear corsets, long victorian gowns (girls), Victorian suits (guys), Some even sport fangs and a cape. Some listen to heavy metal, classical music. Some write poetry, some are very mopey. I can't fully explain it, it's actually quiet complex. Goggle it and it will give you a full description on what it is but not on the styles.

Precisely, what are the meanings of 'colors'? Even if you wear a horrid pink... does your look influence the person about you?

Actually, that's stupid. Of course, adults will think you're an actual HOODLUM if you wear a hoodie, fingerless glove, and a hat that obscures your eyes from the public.

Can you 'think' Goth though? As in, your aspects are deep? (I'm sorry. I don't usually talk aloud - voice, unused - . However, typing is very addicting).

Yes, it is possible to think Goth. In fact, the Gothic style stemmed from an old style of architecture that involved rather dark themes (spires, vaulted ceilings, etc). This form is common in cathedrals of France. Now, Goth has practically become a synonym for 'dark, depressing, and morbid' stuff. However, it can be quite depper than that.

To look things in a dark perspective...

Psychologists would be frank about this and their theories would be fact, almost. A cause and effect. Something has happened to you, physically or mentally, to make you think this way.

However, the world is not 'sunshine daisies' in the majority. To think depressing is fine. You are realizing the facts. However, to get lost in your emotions is an entirely different subject.

To have no aim, no purpose. Life would not be bleak anymore, but pitch.

Goth is a mindset type thing. Not just a dress code. In fact, some goths look so much like punks and stuff that they aren't even considered goth. Most goths are passive and promote tolerance, individualism, and have a fevor for the arts. Did you know there is such thing as "white goths" There really is. It really doesn't matter what you wear as long as you have a gothic mindset. Goths usually acknowledge societies outcasts as a reality that needs confronted. From what I've come to realize, Goths are really set aside and speek out from within. Only if they have a punkish side do they really fight.

Yeah, I think the most important part of being goth is not conforming to what the rest of the crowd is doing. As in, if all the cheerleader girls wear pink clothes every single damn day, and have $300 purses, you don't feel compelled to join them and waste money like that. I think the black eyeliner, spiked bracelets, and black clothes are just to let people know that you are goth, and you're original and proud of it.

The black clothes just show that you know you're different, and you're brave enough to do it anyway. You're stronger than the people who run out and buy those $200 shoes just because the other popular girls wear them. You're stronger than the people who desperately chase the hottest guys at school just to secure their social status. You do what you want, and you're happy doing that.

Who's with me?

woot! i dress like a guy. guess what? im a girl. i stand out in a crowd in my own way. i dont do what others think is right, like underage drinking, which makes me different from people YOUNGER than me. goth is being different, being yourself without hiding from the world. goth is being that touch dark, without going freaky on people. goth comes in all different levels. they choose how to act by themselves, not by what others say. Or at least thats my opion.

-Hello there! Yes, this is Kovu 01, I have two accounts now but I'll mainly be using Kovu 01. This one is Kovu o1(lol) -You may be wondering why I have 2 accounts, well the thing is, this account is mainly going to be used for Flaming peole who really deserve it. Like for example, ever heard of this kid, "Archangel Nazarene?" -Anyway, that's who I've been flaming lately and I may even consider creating a story all about AN and how big of an asshole that kid is. -But you will most likely not see any stories under this account and if you're going to PM me, please use my, "Kovu 01" account because I rarely check e-mails on this account. --Please review my story about Arachangel Nazarene and review my others b/c I want alot of reviews(lol). -Anyway, till then, bye for now. -ttyl -Kovu 01 http://www.fanfiction.net/u/1251963/Kovu_01

Steampunk (The real kind, like 1984 and cyberpunk but with mills and exploitation of the working class. Not the "voyage extraordinare" nonsense everyone seems to think about), Neo-Victorian, Absinthepunk (For lack of a better word, I LOVE Baudelaire, Poe, etc) and most of all, Dark Cabaret.

#18 May 14th, 8:04am
Gunman44

like George Orwell 1984? that's steampunk? I always thought it was a dystopic anti-communist rant (which is basically what all his writings are, not that their bad, that's just the topic of them.) I like the kind of steampunk in the game rise of legends. so basically 1600s or 1870-90s. Anyone read 1632 by Eric Flint. That plus what I've learned in AP Euro has made me love Gustavus Adolphus.

#19 May 14th, 12:09pm
yendissalgoud

'1632' is a good book but i perfer 'Forward the mage'. and Orwell is a estilogical jackass who had a problem with russians in general. norms or the people that look down there nose at other people that break up and disturb their nice little world. stupid ******!!! hey gunman have you ever read anything by john ringo?

#20 May 14th, 4:34pm
Gunman44

"Into the Looking Glass", that was good I've got a couple of others of his around since I just finished "The Mist" I might find one and start that next.

Oh and duh Orwell had a problem with Russians, he grew up in the 20's and 30's red scare and then started to verbalize it in the 40's after WWII. and yeah he is kind of a jackass but I still enjoyed 1984 more than anything else I've read this year in school (cyrano de bersherak[sp] and much ado about nothing were the winners last year).

GUSTAVUS ADOLPHUS FTW!!!!! lol

Alright now to anyone listening: I am trying out for As You Like It by William Shakespeare next week (specifically the parts of both Duke Frederick and Duke Senior) and was wondering if anyone has any auditioning tips, especially some specific to Shakespeare (note: there are no monologues in these auditions)?

well i took drama way back in my high school days. and the only advise i can give you is to try to remember the lines of the characters that you are going out for. and learn to speak from your stomach and to pronouce the words so that the people in the back of the gym or house can hear you. man that was a long time ago.

#22 May 16th, 6:11pm

thanks yendisslgoud, I have been told by many that I really don't need a mic because I project well. and yeah I'm working the memorization part right now.

I feel like such a douche for posting here, but I'm going to say that I'm the anti-goth. I hate your music, I hate your subculture, I hate your look.

Oh, woe is me. I have been labelled a fucking goth.

I'm going off to slit my wrists. Brb.

Rusty i think you doth protest to much. for you to hate you must understand.

I will not mourn you.

#30 Jul 07th, 5:35pm
Rusty-Knives

I do understand, and that's where the problem lies.

How does slitting wrists = death? Retard, slitting wrists is nowhere near enough to kill yourself with, especially with today's emo golden standard of how deep the scratch has to be to be considered a cut.

On a more major note, I hate emo kids. Let's share our hate for emo kids. Even if you don't, I will.

The trendy music they listen to. The fact that they just *have* to travel in those annoying gaggles. The fact that they could even compare themselves to something like Goth - which I still hate, yet respect - The fact that the majority of them are a bunch of trendy hipsters who don't know the whole background of 'emo' music.

Yeah I know. BAWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW.

I so ronery ;_;

Yes.

No your misinterpreting me, I destroy those who oppose me or my friends. I dont Justice and War like Super Heros because that never works. Sometimes you have to bend the rules to win.

#39 Jul 09th, 3:01pm
Gunman44

your thinking is as flawed as your grammar (justice is not a verb). Just because someone opposes you is no reason to destroy them, and bending the rules does no good when winning is your goal. Constant conflict will never gain you anything, especially when you clash with those whose goal is to make you angry and make you retaliate (flame rising). You have much to learn about life my friend.
