 Diego VarenChristopher Eccleston for me. He was the first Doctor I saw on TV and I personally prefer his portrayal to David Tennant's.From the old series, so far all of the old Doctor actors are good, including Colin Baker (a bit underrated) and Paul McGann (who could have had his own series in Doctor Who, if given a chance). | #52 Sep 11th 2007, 9:14am | |

The Mark of the Rani is an okay episode, but having only seen that and the Two Doctors, there are probably better episodes with Baker (Colin). Legolas0If you want to see some old Dr. Whos, check out your local library, if that doesn't work, nearly every episode is on YouTube. Just go on wikipedia and search for "list of Dorctor Who Serials" it takes you to a big list. find a place to start, go to youtube, and type the title of that story into the search. find part one and start watching. the stories are broken up into 9-15 parts, but you can probably figure it out. FusionmixI'm not really anti-David...I've seen Blackpool and must agree he is quite talented, however, Eccleston's mix of angst and humor seemed to work a little better, at least in my book. He and Piper also had better onscreen chemistry in my opinion. I do like Tennant, don't get me wrong, it's just that he has a few traits that get under my skin, such as his little 'god complex' in New Earth, and of course, the part that everybody knows about in GitF. I did love that episode though...I'm not one of those squeeing fangirls who throw fits on message boards going "OMFG DETH 2 MADDAM DU SLUTSLUT!!!1", though the fact it took him three episodes to get around to liking Rose, and around fifteen minutes to fall head over heels for Reinette...something about that made me stop mentally grinning every time he showed up.| #70 Oct 28th 2007, 5:34pm | |

I will be taking that cakeI don't know if you know this, but it's entirely possible for him to have an infinite number of regenerations, you see, back during the time war, the Time Lords on Galifrey gave the Master another set of regenerations so he could fight in the war. Another time he tried to use some eye or whatnot to steal the Doctor's regenerations. Since Galifrey and the Time Lords (exception of 1(2?) {Doctor and Master respectfully}) It's fully possible that the regenerations are no longer limited, so the Doctor, and the Master(he's come back before) could have an unlimited number. |

Hermione VaderHello, everybody! I'm Hermione Vader and I'm quite new to "Doctor Who" (though I think I'm learning the canon rather quickly). I've only been watching the episodes on YouTube for about a month, but I pretty much know the course of the giant story arc and I love it! I'm a fantasy/sci-fi geek and a history/ historical ficiton geek, so this is the perfect show for me. And I'm completely American, so I thought this would be a good place to start in the forums. Okay, I've only really seen New Who (though I've seen a small bit of Seven and a very tiny bit of Five); I hope that's okay. Personally, I really love both Nine and Ten, but for different reasons. But if I was forced to pick between the two, I'd have to go with Eccleston because he was so expressive (as you've already said). He really gave the Doctor a lot of depth and just brought a lot of pathos to the role. His Doctor reminded me of Dean Winchester (from the CW's "Supernatural") with his leather jacket, short haircut, and his ability to switch emotions on a dime (and that's a very good thing). Does anyone here watch "Heroes" also? Eccleston was awesome in the first season as Claude "The Invisible Man" Rains (and thus, Claude is my favorite character). And I think I'm the only one here who thinks Nine was sexy (I like tall men in leather jackets)... As for Tennant, I also love his Doctor, but that might be because Ten reminds me of my 15-year-old younger brother (who has Aspereger's Syndrome, a mild form of autism; I wonder what that says about Ten...). Ten is just really fun and geeky and overall adorable, but he does have his moments of depth, like in "School Reunion" when he said his little schpiel about immortality being "the curse of the Time Lords." Ten just has an irresistible sweetness that I can't get enough of. Okay, who else here cannot watch "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire" without making "Doctor Who"-related jokes? I know I can't since Tennant was Barty Crouch, Jr. and the bad guy from "Rise of the Cybermen"/"Age of Steel" was Barty Crouch, Sr. Now, when I watch the scene in the Pensieve where Barty, Jr. gets arrested, I can't help saying things like "You can't do this to me! I'm a Time Lord!" or "It's all the Daleks' fault!" And when he changes back into himself at the end, I half-expect Professor McGonagall to walk in and say, "Albus, there's a big blue box in Moaning Myrtle's bathroom. What should we do with it?" Oh, and Got Scots, I'd been wondering who might be the next Doctor and thought "Maybe they'll get Ewan McGregor...nah, he's too well-known."  CaledamonI like David Tennant best. He just puts so much energy into the Doctor and the way he sees all things as amazing in a way, it just makes you see them as amazing too. |

gingerbritishgypsyelf Hullo, I've only seen Nine and Ten so I don't have all the Doctors to choose from but I like David best. (It could be that our personalities are so similar, but whatevs.) He is sweet and funny and stuff but every now and again you get a glimpse of what's under that exterior. It's like he's projecting the sweet funniness to cover up the loss. You see bits of darker him when Rose leaves and in "The Doctor's Daughter" when he refuses to accept Jenny in the beginning. I can't help it, I just love number 10! Chris was good, but dark. I like the Doctor to be funny and brilliant, even if a lot of it is a facade. |

Phantomfangirl David Tennant is definatly better than Eccleson. Not to mention much better looking. Tennant is a great actor in general though. |
