LittleMiss-TTopic: Question for you regarding Flaming
Hi, I was just exploring some of the forums and I found your forum and I wondered after reading some of the stuff on here and I had a question for you. When do you draw the line when you flame someone? Have ever flamed someone and read it later and realized you may of gone to far? I have read amusing flames that made me laugh and agree with what the flamer said and I have also read some that some flames that made me what wonder what was going on inside the flamers head before they posted it, I read one and I wish I could find the link to the story (I read it a few days ago) but the flamer threatened the find the author and harm them if they ever posted another Sue fic again. I have never post anything on here before (My profile will show I am still a bit new here) and I kind of wonder if I really should post anything on FF.net. Regardless of what that Author posted that flamer should not have threatoned him/her like that. Most flamers I have seen pick on the story and rarely pick on the Author, I am not refering to anyone here so don't think I am please. That is why I asked the Question, I've allways wondered this and never really asked. I hope you dont mind. (I know my handle is silly! My cousin gave me that name when we were little) Theresa | #1 May 15th, 4:52pm . Edited May 15th, 4:53pm | |

Masque of the Red DeathI try not to flame, and there's very few occasions where I will. A lot of flamers have the worst spelling/grammar/Leetspeak, and their presence on a website that anyone in the world can see and their actions make me... scared. However, there has been a time when I flamed people, although you can't go wrong with 'you fail.' Now, death threats? That's a little over the top... |

Zuko's Flamethrower PWNS j00Well, I look at a story before I flame it to see if it's a Suefic. I never flame a good story. Basically I look for big warning signs - a crappy summary, bad spelling, a obvious self-insert and the like, before I drop a flame on that person. I will not flame someone just for being a newbie, but some people are simply meant to never be authors, period, and they're only here on Fanfiction.Net for attention. |
Masque of the Red DeathI agree with you, but there are a few other signs that are usually also good indications: -all capital letters used -written in script form (if you have the time to write it, you have the time to make it into a normal piece of literature.) -when flamed, they flame back, or give threats to the other person's well-being; banning is a common one. -when given constructive criticism, they respond to it as if it was a flame Those are also common signs, although the ones you presented more so. But, I don't know much about flaming since I don't usually flame. |

Omnipotent Puss PussThe script format in fanfiction pisses me off. I mean, even a retard would know that's not how a story is written, but I see Suethors use it again and again and again. Look at Zuko's Flamethrower's stories - actually, her review boards. It's FULL of Suethors who she flamed flaming back, and reading some of them shows us WHY she flames in the first place. I've given out concrit a good amount of times, only to be insulted, be told that 'i write the way i want!' or 'you're not my english teacher!' or 'i'm new at this!' and shit. New? You can still follow the rules of grammar and commonsense. Not your English teacher? Tough titties. Write the way you want? If everyone wrote how they wanted, we would not have one shared English language anymore. It'd be like the Tower of Babel all over again. |
Masque of the Red DeathI give concrit if I can. Her flames are quite long; I've seen one of the flames copied and pasted as a review. I try not to take the time to even read Suefics. I look at it this way: They have to die out eventually if we don't care about them and don't give them reviews. They'll eventually get bored of being idiots/trolling, and leave. They'll have to since they'll be nearly nonexistent, and there's no fun in sitting around on the computer doing nothing. |
Omnipotent Puss PussI doubt that all the Suethors will die. Why? Because their fellow Suethors praise them. It's one huge circle-jerk that goes on and on and on... |
Masque of the Red DeathA very, very bad spin on The Lion King. Very, very bad. |
Omnipotent Puss PussXD I wasn't even thinking of the Lion King here. I was talking about circle-jerking (I saw a porn video of guys doing that), where people sit in a circle and masturbate the person to their right when the person to their left masturbates them. This is what I think of when I think of Suethors, since they're always praising/supporting one another. |

Omnipotent Puss PussSorry, I didn't mean to bother you. But Suethors praising one other's crap is just as disturbing, if not more. It's one thing to see hot guys doing that (mmm) but stupid tweener tartlet Suethors doing the same thing, EWWWWWW. |
Masque of the Red DeathUnfortunately, the site doesn't regulate spelling and grammar, or Canon raping, which Suethors will never die. Unless, of course, we kill them. |

Silver-hair AngelBut Suethors praising one other's crap is just as disturbing, if not more. It's one thing to see hot guys doing that (mmm) but stupid tweener tartlet Suethors doing the same thing, EWWWWWW. It's blind leading the blind in that respect. They don't know that they're characters are terribly unrealistic, and if they do, they continue as if they are in the right and you have no right whatsoever to comment on that. |
Omnipotent Puss PussBlind leading the blind? A rather apt metaphor for what's going on. And apparently, they don't want to stop being blind. Sigh. |
Masque of the Red DeathThey should know what's good for them, and just stop. Getting reviews is not that satisfying, especially when those reviews are about the stories' failure. |
