Did people expect good work from you?

What do you have due right now?

Did people expect good work from you?

Yeah. The thing is, I've always been at the very top in everything in high school: i.e., being valedictorian, honors classes, almost perfect grades, good SAT and ACT scores, full scholarship to a prestigious school, etc, etc.

And now, I'm so afraid of going even one step below everything I was because everyone has high expectations of me. Which is why I lied to my mom earlier last semester about the B+ I got on one of my midterms; I was so freakin' scared to tell her that I got something below an A.

So yeah...

What do you have due right now?

A ten-page research paper due this Friday which I haven't started yet because I haven't collected all my research because it's so damn difficult to find what I'm looking for and nobody seems to be willing to help me. All the damn librarians are giving me attitudes, I've got another paper to research, and my finals are coming up. So I'm really, really overwhelmed now. And to top it off, I can not sleep well.

Alright then. Your insomnia is brought on by mental stress, specifically, your academic stress, and the guilt caused by your inability to live up to your own, and others expectations. That's the short

All your life school has been easy for you. Too easy, in fact. Your quite intelligent and you've been able to rely on that to easily excel. In fact, you were able to pull of valedictorian without breaking a sweat. As a result, people began to have consistent high expectations of you, and in time, you began to expect the same from yourself. Collage, however, is not as easy as high school. Almost regardless of prior knowledge and intelligence, it is necessary to work very hard to succeed. Everybody finds that out, much as you have. The difference between you and everybody else though, is that while they struggled and studied long hours to get B's and C's, you pulled A's with little effort. Not because you were lazy, but because you didn't have to. Now you are being forced to your limits to attain the same grades you used to, and don't know how to deal with it. Everyone thought it wouldn't be to difficult for you, and neither did you. Now you're scared to tell people you need help, or you can't make it because your afraid it will shatter the beliefs every has about you. What's worse is that you're probably seeing people ranked lower than you deal with the changes more easily. This pressure to please your parents live up to your reputation is what's causing your insomnia. Your mind won't allow your body to sleep because you feel that there is something you should be doing or preparing for, as serving as an indicator that something has to give.

That's the cause anyway. We can work on solutions after you get done reading this, but for right now, let me just say that none of this is your fault if that's what your thinking.

Pirate, I replied in the chat thread but if you want, I can move my comments here too. :)

Whichever you prefer. I don't want to end the other peoples chatting...unless their gone already. Ten it doesn't really matter.

I'm moving the conversation here so others can continue chatting.

Oh, ok. I gotcha. Are you taking all core classes? How many hours do you attend each week? (Roughly of course, I'm just trying to get an idea of your workload)

Err, I spend roughly 35 hours per week simply on classes. I also commute too which takes about an hour from my place to the university.

#258 Apr 15th, 7:31pm
The Pirate on Wheels

That's pretty much a full time job, not counting homework and studying. Oh, and time to eat, sleep, relax, and friend and family time. How many days a week to you actually attend?

I'm confused, where are we talking?

#259 Apr 15th, 7:36pm

Ah never mind. Let's just keep it in the chat thread. Too much confusion here. xD

Not senile quite yet. I knew this thread was here, but I wanted one for me to just fuck around with who I think will win and lose each week. If I did that here, it'd be buried and lost amid the shuffle. (With all your potential dates and all ;)

My insomnia is pretty much stable now, though with the coffee I drank, I think it would be quite hard to get some sleep tonight.

But the coffee is so good! I think I'm getting addicted to coffee . . .

If anyone else watches TC, do you hate Lisa as much as I do? 'Someone sabotaged my rice'? If they were going to sabotage, wouldn't they do that to someone who had won a challenge? She doesn't seem like any kind of threat to me.

I think we all pretty much agree that we'd shed no tears if she were eliminated. The woman does not know how to smile.

myrina- F/R made a whole thread dedicated only to TC. It's towards the bottom of this page. Check it out. Meanwhile, if you know any intelligent, funny and good looking guys, you can use this thread to send them my way. Folks have been shamefully slacking in the search. ;)

Why thank you, Pirate. I need all of the help that I can get. For some reason, men tend to be afraid of me. I have no idea why. ;)

It is no great sacrifice for the Great Wacket! Seriously, I lose nothing...

For some reason, men tend to be afraid of me. I have no idea why. ;)

It must be the psychology degree. Men fear being picked apart by women, who can usually do the job just fine without an education.

Or they fear your kitty, and I would to if it's anything like the one in Nassa's avi...

HE IS NOT VANILLA ICE!!!!!

He is my current beloved (whom I'm willing to let Pie have for one date only), HRITHIK ROSHAN, Bollywood extraordinaire. *drools*

Keep that rapper from my man!! ;P

Just wondering, is Pie interested in Bollywood in the first place? Shah Ru Khan would be my pick for her. As much as I like him, I wouldn't go after him though, so he's all yours, Pie! Hope he isn't married or dating anyone though.

She should. Hollywood and Turkish films are utter crap. :P

Shah Ru Khan would be my pick for her.

You spelled his name wrong. It's Sharukh Khan. And yeah, he's awesome but taken. He even has a son who has also entered the film industry. His name: Aryan Khan.

He's hot but he's getting old. But I think that's good enough for Pie. ;)

xDDD

Surprisingly, I've seen a couple of the films and found them very amusing. I really liked Bride and Prejudice.

Good enough? Good enough just won't do. He needs to be spectacular! ;)

And what do you consider old?

Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. I have been trying to come up with this title for ages.
