How do you delete a comunity?

In the Community Manager, underneath the Community tab on your profile. Pretty much exactly where you made it.

I couldn't tell you exactly where the remove button is since I've never made one, but you should be able to find it there...

plz help me out here....I logged onto my profile after a very long time and when i tried to add a new chapter the stories heading had not listeded my stories or any way to upload a new chapter. The problem is that i have no internet at my house and i have to type up a new chapter and take a pendrive with it saved on it to an internet cafe and upload it. Could it be that Fanfiction.net recognizes that I am on a different computer and could not let me upload a new chapter?. help me out please

To add a new chapter to an existing fanfiction, you have to go to the My Stories section (under the Publish tab), click on the story you wish to update, go to Content/Chapters, and upload the new chapter from there.

Is anyone still having issues with the drop-down menus not loading? I've tried on every single browser on my computer, even installed Flock to try but nada. The strange thing is, when I use another computer, the drop-down menus show up, but they don't on my current computer. The individual links have been able to get me through, but I can never submit a new story. When I get to the page where I'm supposed to select a category and click the submit button, i'm able to select the category, but clicking the submit button does nothing. :(

Oh and just to add, when I tried to click the submit button on IE, the error message I got was

I hate to say it, but I'm glad I'm not the only one having this problem. I use Google Chrome, and I have IE and Mozilla on my Gateway Netbook (which maybe can't process FF properly?). I've had the problem since the update happened, but before it the drop downs and menu buttons worked, and I could upload documents and edit them, see favorites and do the normal things that the site offers, but now I have to go to lengths to get stories to my Uploader and then I can't publish them, and my editing to them via the Uploader doesn't stay edited it reverts back to the original document. I got the same error messages when I tried using IE, and Firefox acts the same as my Chrome. I hope someone can help, I really think it has something to do with the script, I thought maybe it was just my computer itself since the old desktop at my Aunt's house works just fine, but seeing as how so many people seem to be experiencing the same or similar I figure that it's probably the case of the HTML.

Anyway, I hope someone can help me resolve my (our) problems, and I can return to posting on FF. Thanks in advance.

Hm. Sounds like the script crapped out. I'd say it's the uploader, not you - while I know IE sometimes has issues with scripts, you'd get the 'a script has crashed or is running slowly' popup if it was you. And if Firefox and Chrome are dying on the uploader as well then it's definitely the script. All we can do is wait until the admins fix the script. (Knowing this sort of error, it's probably a typo, or a missing semicolon.)

Throw away all the cookies from this site so Firefox thinks you have never been here before. Other option (I don't know if Firefox has this, but its sister browser Seamonkey has) in the menu tools go to Manage passwords. You get a menu that offer sites for which you store passwords, and under a different tab, a list of sites that never store passwords. Delete all mentions of FFnet from that second list.

I got rid of the cookies but it didn't come up - Firefox doesn't have the list that never stores passwords (at least, not in 3.6.10 - it might have in older versions) but I think I've found the problem (didn't tick 'store passwords'). Thanks for the help though.

You don't. The community owner or its staff can add stories to a community, authors themselves can't.

At the bottom of every story there is a drop down menu with several options (report abuse, add to favorites). One of these options is add to C2. Click on that and follow the instructions on the screen to add the story to the C2.

Thanks! This helped a lot. But I have one question: Why can't I put more than one / next to one another? I can put as many as three \'s next to each other, put any time I put more than one / next to each other in my story, they disappear. .

I think you'll find it's because of "http://" -- you're unable to put links inside the story (some people do get around it with spacing out the component parts), and because "http://" contains that double forward-slash, it's easiest just to program the uploading process to automatically get rid of the "//".

There may be another reason, but this seems like the most likely/logical.

I was under the impression that any sequence of three got reduced to just one. Not just // or www. Also the perfectly fine word "ideeën" was reduced to "iden". Which was particularly annoying because it was in a PM (in Dutch) where I told someone their story should be spell checked. So, I'm rather surprised you can get three \ in a row.

Gin is right though, that this reducing of three symbols in a row is to keep people from adding urls, links (and other forms of spam) to stories and PMs.

Do you have funny punctuation in there, such as the at character? The site will strip anything which looks like an email address or link to a website.

Hello, I had noticed before that for some reason fanfiction.net deletes my use of Mr. or Mrs. At first i thought it must've been me but when I checked my original document, it's clearly there. I have tried uploading in different formats but they keep disappearing even after I re-edit on FFN. What am I doing wrong? my last chapter I uploaded, I got a bunch of reviews saying it was hard to understand who was speaking because I hadn't mentioned names or pronouns and I sure did. Please help

That's an odd problem. I've never even heard of it.

The only thing I can think of is, did you put a space after the full stop? So Mr. Jackson, rather than Mr.Jackson?

It's supposed to be written the former way anyway, but if you wrote it the latter way, perhaps FFnet treated it as an url and stripped part of it from the text.

ETA: I've noticed from your profile and summaries that you don't always put a space after a full stop (there should always be a space after a full stop), so that may indeed be your problem.

Yes I noticed that myself too. It's odd because I use word and it doesn't correct that problem automatically for some reason. Thanks for the tip, I'll have to be more careful of that in the future

Well, let's figure out what you're doing to see what you're doing wrong. Can you tell us how you go about adding a chapter?

The site doesn't seem to be experiencing any problems that I can see, so it's probably unlikely that it's the site having a problem...but I suppose you never know.

i uploaded an sxw and doc file in document manager clicked preview and in both i have no paragraphs everything is single spaced.

You can edit documents in the manager. You'll probably just have to go through and put your paragraphs back in their proper places.

Is everything is bunching together, or just normally single spaced? The site automatically changes everything into single spaced formatting. It's just how everything is displayed.

I have no idea why a .doc file would not keep the formatting (as in your paragraphs) when uploaded into the manager, though.

Review the security settings of your browser.

Check whether you are allowing this site to open pop-up windows and to set cookies.

Last night I tried to remove a sentence from my document manager. It's still missing from my doc. manager but the sentence is still in the story. Do I have to do the 'backup' thing, and if so, will I lose my reviews?

Changing the document in the document manager after its been uploaded will do nothing--the two aren't connected in any way. So, if you were to delete the document from the manager, your story will still be on the site. (In fact, all documents, if they are not edited, will be deleted after 60 days. You can also delete them manually, which is also good since you can only have so many documents in the manager.)

You have to replace the chapter to update the story with your changes. Go to the My Stories section, select the story you wanted to change, and go to the Content/Chapters tab. Underneath where you would add a new chapter there will be a box that says "Replace/Update Chapter with New Content." Pick the chapter you want to update and the document from the manager and press Replace Chapter.

You won't lose any reviews or hits.
