Topic: Review Circle
Let's face it: the Earthbound section isn't exactly the most thriving community on ffnet. Few stories are posted, and reviews are rare. Thus I propose we do something I've seen some of the other fandoms around here do: a review circle. People post stories they want reviewed in this topic, and readers review them. Those readers then in exchange receive a review from the person whose story he or she just reviewed. Ideally, everyone would review everyone else's story, and we'd all wind up with plenty of good feedback for our hard work. Of course, reviews like, "lol i red ur stori now read mine" don't count; people spend a great deal of time crafting their fanfiction, so it's only fair to spend at least a little time thinking while writing reviews. What did the writer do well? What could have been done better? Were there any logic or spelling errors?

What do you think? Anyone like this idea? If so, post the name and link to a story you want reviewed here, and we can get this thing started.

I like very much this idea but most of the writers here who are also well-versed in conceptual literature and the sort of discussion and review I would like are now defunct. I don't like to be condescending but I have to when I say that I write for an audience that is by and large NOT Earthbound fanfic readers. ... unfortunately, people who are not Earthbound fanfic readers have little interest in reading Earthbound fanfics. I don't know why I do what I do!, but I do it.

I'm hesitant to sign up for a review circle because most people just look at my stories and go "guh what", and I don't feel like receiving a bunch of reviews saying "uh i don't get it, also you made this one grammar edit, now go read mine," and also because the sort of criticism I'm giving them-- I fear-- would go over their head.

But hey, anyone who knows what hermeneutics of suspicion are, and how to apply them, as well as semiotics-- dial me baby, we'll go 1:1 until the sun sets~
