Joanne please!! I love singing her parts, (it's the only female part that goes low enough for me!) also I just love how uptight and prissy she is!!

Wonderful! now that we have a full cast, I have a couple questions. Is this going to be diolouge only, or are going to write an actual story? If writing an actual story, is Angel going to be refered to as 'he' or 'she'? I personally go by 'she,' but what do you guys go by? It'd be a wee bit confusing if we mixed pronouns.

now what? we've got a full cast, and I'm up for anything!!

When are we starting? And personally I use either he or she when referring to Angel.

Erik and Fae
Well if it's an RPG I'm guessing there's going to be more than dialogue. There's description as well. And with the Angel reference, I think it depends on the character. I mean, Angel can be called either a he or she. Collins does both ("I can't believe he's gone"). Being Roger, I would call Angel a she. But maybe, Benny would call her a he. Or at emotional moments, Angel will be called a he. Just depends on the character and situation, I guess.

On another note, YAY! I'm glad we're off and ready to go. Just waiting for the Head Admin. to give us the thumbs up.

Oh, and might as well give out introductions! My name's Jen and I love Rent (who would have figured?). I love to RP and I'm so excited to work with such an enthusiastic bunch of people. And might as well shamefully plug my stories. "Sucks to Be You" and cowriting "I Should Tell You," and one-shots such as "Forget Regret" and "The Ultimate Price."

Please introduce yourself and go ahead and plug your stories! Maybe I've read them, or will read them! I'd like to get to know you all better.

My name's Caitlin and I'm an incurable Renthead! This is my first time doing an RP so this should be really fun. I guess since Mimi calls Angel 'she' that's the pronoun I will be using. And since we're plugging stories my current RENT fic is called Beyond the Cheap Colored Lights. It's post-RENT and has Roger/Mimi, Collins/Angel, Collins/OC, Maureen/Joanne, and eventual Mark/Maureen.

I'll also have a one-shot up soon about Mark and Maureen's break-up one month before RENT begins. Please check it out. And does anyone know how soon we'll be starting?

Sir Gawain of Camelot
Introductions? Alright. I like to be called Gawain. (But if you want to know my name, it is Maya) If you do not want to scroll up, I am RPing as Angel. I also am a fan of Terry Pratchett's books and Manga. My favorite RENT charactor is Angel. (Who would have figured?)

It is my fist role play as well, but I have been watching my sister and her friends do it for over a year, and I LARP. (Live Action Role Play. You actually dress up and do it.)

I have one story called Before The Pearly Gates about Angel after she dies. Do not read it if you are a religious buff. I slightly mock the Christian one.

I have no idea when we'll be starting. I sent Dazee Sagittarius a PM saying we have a full cast, but she hasn't responded. We could start without her. It would be a bit hard for me, because when do you see Angel without Collins? But there are times, so we'd manage.

I don't know if we should start without Dazee. She was the one who started this, so let's wait. It's the holidays, many aren't home. If she never comes, then we'll talk.

I read the stories you two plugged in (Caitlin and Gawain), so check your reviews :). Caitlin, I like where Beyond the Cheap Colored Lights is going, you've got a lot of good descriptive detail. Gawain, I adore Before the Pearly Gates. I've never seen Angel portrayed so well before. I had an idea like that, but you did it justice. I give up, I'd rather read yours then work on mine.

I'm a RPG veteran. I can't wait to work with fresh rpers. By the looks of it, you guys will do great. Okay we're waiting for more intros.

As a side conversation, just to keep this thread active, what other musicals do you guys dig?

Moonlit Opera
The other musicals I like are Phantom of the Opera (my fave. after RENT), Grease, and West Side Story. I want to get into Wicked too...is that musical good?
#18 Dec 27th 2005, 4:01pm
Erik and Fae
Is that musical good? It's GREAT! Hence my name Erik and Fae. Erik is actually my friend Katie because her computer won't respond to ff.net for some reason, so we share an account. I'm Fae, which is short for Elphaba, the Wicked Witch of the West. Wicked is an awesome musical, it's a children's fairytale taking new heights and conquering the world. Check it out.

I also love Phantom, but I like to call him by his human name, Erik. I am probably one of the many few who refuses to call Raoul a Fop, I don't understand why people hate him so much! I liked the movie, I have it, but I'm still devoted to the original cast, Brightman and Crawford and Barton, although Rossum has a nice voice, and Wilson is probably the best singer there. I didn't care too much for Butler, except that he's gorgeous :)

hi, I'm a proud geekfreak. (see how my pen name works out like a sentence? I'm such a geek like that!) For real my real name, I respond to anything, but you can call my Lynn or Karen, either one works.

Love RENT, have yet to see it on Broadway because of the prices of tickets, but one day I will. Saw the movie, cried! I know the sound track by heart, and I love the character Joanne, so I guess that's why I'm her. I feel as though Joanne would refering to Angel as a 'he' so I will.

I'm also in love with Phantom, and plan to read the book as soon as I'm done with "Son of a Witch" which is the sequel to "Wicked." I'm a "Wicked" fan, both musical and book. I saw "Wicked" on the off Broadway tour, it was my sweet sixteen birthday present (very good seats, so that's why it was one of three of my sweet sixteen birthday presents, and the other two presents were DVDs, Phantom was one of them :D, so the tickets were the highlight) and I loved it. I love musicals, I have a bad voice so people don't want me to actually sing out musicals, but I do (mainly in the shower! :D)

As for stories, I'm working on a RENT one, but it's not posted yet. I want it to be really good, and I think I might call it "Other Fishie" because it's about Mark finding a, as his mother put it so poetically, "other fishie in the sea." I'll tell you when it's up, but don't epxect for a while.

this will be fun and I can't wait we get started!!

Welcome Lynn or Karen or proud geekfreak (whichever your preference). Okay, so I was reading your profile and my jaw nearly dropped. You're an SVU FAN! AN SVU FAN! I LOVE SVU! You can't even imagine. I'm so devoted. And that episode you were ranting about is one of my favorite episodes. Elliot going undercover is great. One of the reasons I love this Law and Order show especially is because of the chemistry between Elliot and Olivia. I love the partnership between Fin and Munch! They're so friggin awesome, and just so diverse in character. I also LOVE Huang. Huang rocks hard core. And because he was Linus is You're A Good Man, Charlie Brown musical revival.

Okay I have to limit myself. This is a Rent forum, NOT an SVU forum. But still, gotta love SVU.

Anyway, welcome! I'll read your L&O story soon, and I'm glad to find another fan. There are so few of us where I live.

Since you two are SVU fans were either of you disapointed when Alex left the show and Casey replaced her? I was...

Erik and Fae
Another fan? Well! Actually, I only became a fan since...August? I guess. So I had to do a lot of catching up to do. LUCKILY, channel USA shows a lot of L&O reruns (praise the Lord for that!). So granted I haven't seen every SVU episode, I've seen a great deal. I didn't find out about Cabbot until the episode she came back as a witness. Then I got confused. The USA put on these SVU marathons, and the episode where she gets shot came on, and it all made sense. I do like Cabbot a lot, but I also like Casey as well. Either one will do. The thing that struck me the most was when Cabbot left her identity once more. But, my favorite lawyer is Jack McCoy from the regular series of Law and Order. I just love the way the guy presents his case and interrogates the witnesses.

SVU's my top choice, then our beloved Jesse in the regular series. I do not like Criminal Intent much. There's Trial by Jury, but I've never seen it. Has anyone?

Okay, granted the topic is on SVU but the forum is still Rent. We're just killing time :)

Sir Gawain of Camelot
Heh. I'm afraid I have not seen SVU... And I'm actually not a big musical fan either. My friend wanted to see the movie, and I was intregued, so I went into the theater with no idea what it was about, and came out a fan. Heh. But I do like Cats.

And I thank you, Fea. (That answers my question on which one, does it not?) You really boosted my confidance in playing Angel. I was a bit hesitant... I have read all your fics as well, but I didn't review all of them. I'm very bad like that. I loved them all. And you portray Roger wonderfully, M'lady.

You are right, I would not really feel right setting the ball rolling without the topic starter. We don't have a plot yet, and the roleplay starter should give that. Or at least a first post to let us know what direction this is heading. And why Angel is still alive. ...that is, I hope she is meant to still be alive. It would be a rather boring roleplay for me if she were not, would it not be? No charactor interaction at all....

Thank you for your compliments Gawain. It's interesting to see how diverse our roleplayers are turning out to be, and yet so very similar. Just like the Rent gang I suppose. Cats is actually what got me started on my whole musical/theatre insanity. I was hooked on Cats for the longest time. Loved Rumpleteazer. Was her for Halloween a year or so ago. Saw the tour cast last December. But my Cats obsession is complete, and am now onto Rent. SVU is starting in 15 :)

I like Cats, don't get me wrong, but I remember what really turned me onto musicals and the stage was seeing the Phantom of the Opera when I was about five, six or seven. I also saw Beauty and the Beast, the actual play, a little after I saw Phantom and I just remember loving how beautiful the people's voices were and amazed at how much passion and emotion the singers had in their voices. I saw Cats a couple years after that, and it didn't have the same impact on me as the two musicals previously listed. Of course later on in life I read Wicked and my friends let me listen to the soundtrack and I loved it! Then the same friends show me RENT and I freakin' loved it!!!!!! Thus the musical junkie that was secretly lurking inside me spurng to life and that is the same person who you see typing this thingie today!

Basically what I'm saying is, Cats is good, but not personal favorite. And I'm a musical junkie. The end. Hoped you enjoyed the show. Don’t forget to tip your waiters. And anybody know when we gonna start?

Right, sorry Angel of the Night 213, didn't mean to disregard you question. yes, I was disappointed when Alex left. I do like Casey, but it would help if she won a case every once in a while. Casey did stand up to that judge at least. oh well. But hey, "forget regret, or life is yours to miss." Truer words have never been spoken except, maybe, "hell has no fury like a woman scorn." Am I right?

When you're right your right...Beauty and the Beast was freaking awesome! It was the first musical I ever went to. Since we're not starting yet and we have nothing else to talk about here, does anyone like Star Wars?
#28 Dec 30th 2005, 9:05am
Erik and Fae
I love Star Wars! Given, I'm not as fanatic as my friends are, but I'm a pretty big Star Wars fan. I thought the third one was, by far, the best as far as action went, but could they have been any cornier with the script? I thought the lines were horrible. But, there were definitely some funny parts, which was a surprise. When palp's changing into his evil demeanor and utters grossly, when R2D2 sprayed oil on them and they kick him and he falls over, when Yoda walks into Palp's room and the guards lay their weapons in front of him and he sways his hand, crashing them into the wall, and the classic, "No!" Darth Vader yells when he finds out about Padme. But, 4,5,6- will remain favorites, classics.

the script was so cornie!!! but so were some parts of the second Star Wars movie, but the third was the corniest in my opinion. I really thought Padme need a southern accent when she said, "Anakin, you're breaking my heart." anyone else agree?
#30 Dec 30th 2005, 4:06pm
Moonlit Opera
The thing I really don't get is the way Padme died. She was the queen of an entire planet at the age of fourteen and after her terms were over she became a senetor. It wasn't in character when she just gave up when Anakin went over to the Dark Side. Especially when she just had two kids and she thinks Anakin is still good deep down!

But this was my faveorite out of the New Trilogy. Episode Four was my faveorite out of the Old Trilogy. What about you guys?

Kiwi Anime
Introductions? Erm, well, my name is Kiwi Anime, and I love roleplaying. I even created a roleplaying site of my own, but the members grew so crazy I gave ownership to another member. But I'm still the founder, and the owner is constantly bugging me on stuff like, "I'm never gonna be as good as you!" -sigh- ANYWAYS...You can call me Kiwi.

Star Wars, hmm? I really couldn't decide out of the new trilogy...I really enjoyed episode 3. And Episode 6 is fun. XD I just love the Ewoks. But wait...why are we talking about Star Wars? Whatever happened to the person who made this roleplay? They have sort of dissapeared from their own forum...

#32 Dec 30th 2005, 7:12pm
Erik and Fae
Out of the new trilogy, I would have to say 3, and out of the old trilogy, it has to be 6. Lucas really knows how to produce a powerful ending.

I have to say this. Since we're speaking of trilogies, I love the Lord of the Rings. I think those movies were brilliant. And speaking of brilliant movies, I'm crazy about Pirates of the Caribbean. For some reason, I've been hooked on it all over again. Anyone else?

I hope the Dazee didn't disappear. I'm still hoping that she'll come back. If, in fact, she doesn't come back, then we'll need to take matters into our own hands, but I still have hope. And if she did disappear, then we need a new Collins. I'll send her an e-mail so we can decide when she's coming back and if she wants us to think of plotlines, or if she thought of one. I don't think she intended to have this RPG die before it even started.

#33 Dec 30th 2005, 7:31pm
a proud geekfreak
New trilogy is definitely three. Old trilogy, five or six. and for Pirates of the Caribbean I love that movie!! I originally went to see it for Johnny Depp and Orlando Bloom, and then I saw it two more times in theaters for the plot and the amazing characters!! and if Dazee did disappear I say we grab pitchforks and torches and hunt Dazee down so we can get started! but we don't have to listen to my suggestion if it seems a little harsh or unreasonable. until we start I'll be twiddling with my thumbs and humming to myself.

"THE" Dazee is back...sorry about that, guys. I'm sooo happy you all signed up because I was worried. Now we have a full cast! Aaah! I'll start a thread. :)

Goddess of Ivy
Sorry guys! It was kinda crazy with the holidays- Well, my name is Amy and I am playing Maureen. Maureen has always been my favorite character because I think there is so much more to her than you actually get to see. I have one Rentfic up called "They Think". It's a Maureen-centric oneshot and I'm actually pretty proud of it as it is the first Rentfic I felt was good enough to post. I'm really excited to be part of the RP, especially one with a full cast. I'm a veteran RPer, but I just recently started Rent RPing. I think that's about it...Oh, and I also love SVU and Star Wars :-) .
