P.S. Hey, Hatpig, if you feel age impaired with a birth date of '89, you should see it from my vantage point. I think I have a pair of socks older than you.

Hi Dee! And everyone else I haven't said hello too! I've pretty new to the forum, and to fanfics. I love horses!!! And you're one up on me with phtoshop. I had to stop trying to figure it out because it was starting to upset me. Why I can do Moviemaker and not Photoshop I don't know. :/ *shrug*

As far as old, greif! How bout 68??? When I was a kid I was listening to Freddy Fender in my mom's eight track in her car! Just ask if you dunno what an Eight-track is - HA!! XD

Holla LionQueen!

What a coincidence. I am using an 8-track tape cassette as a prop in my fanfic. Yup, I remember 'em well. And the Photoshop gave me the unholy trinity= headkeyboardwall ;-) You can do Moviemaker? Now that's impressive.

Ahhhhhhhahahahahaha!!!! I just realized my last post made me sound like I was 68!!! Bwaahaha!! No, I meant I was born in 68. I am 39. Whew, man! *G* At any rate, meh, moviemaker is just dragging clips to a different spot and then draggin the music, well, actually I drag the music first and then the clip. Either way, it's not difficult. :)

Country(optional): U.S. of A! SoCal! (Southern California)

Loves: drawing, reading, nuts about superpowers and DC characters by proxy, composing my own sci-fi theory (esp. time travel and parallel universes) Sid Meier's Civilization games, writing,

More Info About Me(optional): I'm a mildly paranoid (hence the namelessness), pessamistic, procrasstinating perfectionist (alliteration!:). I am just learning to write, mostly scenes, but I am moving on to actual stories now.

*Talk Corner: Also I have a very healthy ego, not too much or little, so I won't bite your head off for helping, or require a nauseating amount of "This is the best!" reviews. I try to help as much as I can, so come to me with anything and I'll try to help!

Name(optional): Michael

Middle name(optional): Allen

Gender: Male

Nickname:

Country(optional): US

Likes: Anything science fiction for the most part. I also like some sports and games. I like reading different things. Not all of them have to be science fiction things either. I like watching or reading a good romance story once in a while. My taste in music varies so much that it's hard to explain. I'll like a lot of music from the last 40 years. I'll like something that's smoother just as much as I'll turn around and like something that's barking at you. As long as I can tap into some kind of emotion with it I'll like it. And if the instrumental part is to my liking.

More Info About Me(optional): I'm a twin. My brother and I don't get along. I suppose it's been your typical "good/evil" twin thing going on with us. Most people think being a twin is an awesome thing, and it can be. But usually only when you're young and you can play games with it. After that it's academic. Anyway, enough about that.

Right now I'm writing a story for a small fandom called Captain Power and the Soldiers of the Future. I'm not sure if people like it or not, but it keeps getting hit regularly as I've been adding a chapter each night. This might be a little different from most, being a guy and all. But I'm writing the story from the view of a young girl writing in her diary as she, her family, and another family run from the machines. She keeps writing in the diary as things occur in her life and the lives of the others. Relentlessly being chased by the biodreads makes life hard for all of them. Particularly her as part of her wants to stay young and she's being forced to grow up too fast.

Not a bad story, I'm not a big fan of science fiction but it sounds intriguing. Not so hot about the name though, but hey it's your story.

I gotta say I'm with you on the music thing, I can't stay too long on one genre either. I have a mix cd that has rock, pop, jazz, instrumental, classical, blues.

Don't know why but I can't stick with one kind of music it gets so boring.

Country(optional):United States of America.

Likes:Sports(Basketball/Football), Anime, Drawing, Writing, Science, Shy and innocent girls, blah, blah, blah.

More Info About Me(optional): I have recently hit a wall when it comes to writing. I don't want to be the best writer out there that everyone knows about and adores, but I want to make good stories, preferably romance, that don't just have "newbie" written all over it. I haven't succeded yet. My account on FF.Net is fairly new, but I'm not really all that new to writing.

Now when I said "I haven't succeded yet," I ment I've been failing miserably. My stories don't get reviews, but what I can tell just about everything I've thought of has Mary Sue(Not totally sure what it is, but I have a general idea.) plastered everywhere. I've deleted all my stories after reading the Pet Peevees topic...I was stunned at how my stories always hit someone's pet peevee...So I'm trying my hardest not to make a cliche story now, but it isn't going to well.

Azu, it isn't really imperative that you avoid all the pet peeves. I think deleting all your stories was a little overreactive; I had problem stories too, but I just revised them (again) before I posted and, voila, they're a hundred times better!

Don't let flames discourage you, just keep trying and you'll be a cut above the flock.

#130 Feb 17th, 11:40am

Uni? Unicorn (comics) or University? Obviously that is another word you will only hear in England, huh?

Seriously, even 'advert' gets blank stares out here in the US of A.

#131 Feb 17th, 11:53am

as in university sorry ^^

I selfishly ignore cultural language gaps and will always refer to things like car boots, pavements, crisps, dummies and spell colour with an u and grey and an e ^^

#132 Feb 17th, 12:35pm
Darkwinter999
Selfish? Americans invented selfish ignorance of cultural gaps! Besides, it's okay; I endevor to know and understand as much British slang and expressions as possible. Zebra crossing, petrol and the station, carpark, flat, ** (lol, always makes me laugh), telly, roundabout and others (not too many, I hit just about everything).

I forget you dont have roundabouts XD I love roundabouts they are just funfunfun. Apart from when you fall off your seat.

I can't think of anymore differences because...I never learn the alternatives. Though in my opinion, the twi best British phrases are Bugger and Sod. I dont know why. They just sound so English.

#134 Feb 17th, 1:12pm

Sod as in sodamy or sections of pre-grown grass?

as in 'you silly sod'. I don't know where it comes from but its great. Nothing like yelling 'sod it!' when you spill a cup of coffee

Oh, yeah, I think I've heard the first one. I wonder where it comes from....
