So, with the fun new icon rating thread, I thought it might be fun for us to say the reasons behind our choice of avatar (beyond "because I like it").

As an example, I'll say why I picked my icon. I picked this picture because I really like Idina Menzel, and in this picture she looks hopeful and slightly amazed. It reminds me of the way Elphaba feels in "The Wizard and I" and makes me feel really excited about my future and applying for vet school (yes, I know I sound like a one-track record). It just shows how I feel about life right now.

So, why did you choose your avatar?

Because it reminds me that today was a great day and wasn't sucky like the rest of the week was. :D

Because it's Julia with a funny expression. And the caption amuses me more than it should. And because Julia just pwns at life.

Because Stitch reminds me of Link Larkin, and Link Larkin reminds me of Elvis.

And Elvis, Stitch, and Link Larkin are all awesome.

And Stitch is adorable. :)

I might change him soon though.

I just pick random faces I drew I actually think are decent. This was one of my first where I got rid of the pointy noses, and I actually used a picture reference. Elphaba turned out better than Fiyero, so I cropped her face. The previous ones (In counter-chronological order) were of me circa 7 months ago, Riti-Yero, and Fiyero. My next one, provided I make the skin turn out okay, will be of Howell Jenkins.

Because I wanted a Twilight avatar... and this one was the favorite of the ones I'd found.

Everyone was telling me to change my avatar and it was the first one I saw

I wanted another one of Julia, and this one looked relatively nice.

I really like Converse All-Stars, and the kiss thing is really cute. I like that everyone (including me) thinks they're kissing, even though we just see their feet and they could just as easily be hugging or doing something completely different and random. I like to think they're kissing, anyway.

Cuz I downloaded the Sweeney revival concert recently and now am in love with Patti Lupone.

Cause Sis drew a picture of me that I found hilarious, and I wanted to elaborate on it.

Because I need help determining my eye color.

I'd call it hazel.

Because I have decided that Julia as angry!Florence is one of the most sexy things in the world. And I made this one.

Well, I picked my current avatar for a good number of reasons. The first one of such being the pure fact that Calvin (of & Hobbes fame) is made of win, because he is the part of me that is a mischievous little boy that thinks girl are icky, and teachers are really large, dinosaurish monsters. If that makes any sensical sense. Not only is Calvin a large part of my psychological structure, but he is, in general, made of a gargantuan percent of win.

My second reason for choosing said avatar is that Calvin is at a desk, clearly in a fairly estranged state, one of frustration and anger. One that I commonly feel, not only in my regular school year, but also in the hot, painful period of summer that I must be forced to be physically educated, although I'm not at a desk during this time.

And my final reason is because I felt like it. So there. :P

Cuz... Tracie just looked so happy! And I was on kind of an icon-making spree...

Because Alice is the happiest vampire EVER.

And they finally made the actress's hair look in-character, although it's still not black.

I was getting tired of looking at my sad-excuse-for-a-spoony-bard and decided to fix some official art I stole off the net to make it an avatar. I think it turned out pretty good. See the little more-solid-looking thing in the corner, that was where the original part of the icon was supposed to be but 1. It was too small and 2. I was tired of having such bold things and thought the translucent, larger echo looked better.

My name. Draw a circle around the ones you love because a heart can be broken. The water is gonna wash away the heart, proving the point.

I'm feeling rather dependent on my friends for eternal happiness. I'd be depressed or freakishly preppy without them.

I chose Mello as my avatar because I am completely obsessed with him. Mello is a character from my favourite manga/anime 'Death Note', and I am obsessed with him because he likes chocolate (a lot) and he's got a pretty high IQ. And, while this picture is before that particular incident, he blows things up and gets a wicked scar. So... he's hot! Oh, did I mention that he's a Mob boss and has a pretty cool partner in crime? Because he does.

Oddly the "So... He's Hot" sums up why I decided to put Gilbart's (Better known as Edward this side of the Pacific) official art instead of the attempt at a DS sprite rendering (Well, it's a cel-shaded with low frame rate to get in the voices, so I fathom they really are just glorified sprites.) I had one, but, well, I got bored with it because I think it turned out too much like a character from a webcomic I no longer read. (I mean, really looked like the guy.)

Because doesn't it look like he's saying that? XD

Because I felt like the only person in the WORLD without one, so I finally caved like 4 days ago. I really like Elphaba, I really like me as Elphaba, so I found an old tester shot and put text over it. It's sort of a "between actual legitimate shots" shot, and it ended up being my fave, of course.

I'd love to use one of me and Raey but she's singing the lead in an opera in Prague right now so I'm Glinda-less until she comes back and deigns to mix opera with pop.

Inside joke :) It was on my profile, but I got rid of it. Now, if you say 'imposter', I crack up.

(We were in Religion one day, and he was explaining to us about God knows what.

"So, if you have a white and a black cat in a room, and you take out the black cat and bring in an... imposter black cat, the white cat will know." Well, I found the ridiculously funny, quite possible for the reason that he's always trying to be funny (with no one laughing) and he WASN'T supposed to be funny this time. And it somehow got transferred into an inside AP World Lit joke. :)

Now, I have a series of comics (ickily drawn) based on this imposter black cat. :)

I almost died when we read "Thor and Loki in Giantland." Yes, there was an imposter cat.
