Topic: Chad, The Magical Transforming Character
Does anybody think that the former Numbuh 274 (or current Numbuh 274, as it may be) seems sort of inconsistent in his characterization? When 274 first appears, he's this rather low-key older brother figure for the KND. Then, after his betrayal, he turns into this one-dimensional parody of the stereotypical jerk teenager, and his voice rises, like, two octaves. All this could've been fine, but then Operation: T.R.E.A.T.Y. comes along and retcons everything, and how he's this disgruntled jealous guy who all of a sudden has a grudge against Numbuh One. What's really weird is that, in the flashback, Numbuh 274 acts more like the current Chad than the one we saw in Operation: C.H.A.D..

As a fanfic writer, stuff like this always strikes me as amusing, as I'm not sure a 'fic writer could get away with a plot-twist like this without the reviewers calling his or her story OOC.

(This is a side point, but have you ever noticed that Numbuh 274's jawline seems to magically change depending on whether or not he's wearing his helmet? Before, Numbuh 274 had a standard round jaw like many KND characters, and after his betrayal, we as the viewers could assume his new jaw was all part of his teenage growth spurt. But now, it's revealed that Numbuh 274's jaw has always been able to shift back and forth at will. I think the writers of KND should have made it clear that Numbuh 274's jaw could do this, instead of leading us to believe his jaw had actually changed inbetween E.N.D. and L.E.A.D.E.R.. Otherwise, he gives "Hero with a Thousand Faces" a whole new meaning.)
