![]() Okay, I have a few questions for you guys? 1. Do you think Marty ever went through a phase of not liking girls? 2. Do you think Marty ever went to summer camp? 3. Do you think Marty's family liked taking summer trips. 1. I'd say "no"! He was always friendly to everyone, both boys and girls. 2. In the TP Timeline, I'd say it's highly unlikely - unless someone other than Marty's parents offered to pay for him. I think Marty would jump at the chance, though - as it'd give him some time away from the family. In the LP Timeline, it's more likely Marty would've attended - on a few occasions. I haven't thought of any specifics, though. 3. In the TP Timeline, the McFlys only went on one family trip. Linda won some tickets to Wishing Well Resort by calling into a radio station - as she hoped that, just once, the whole family could act as a "real family". The trip was mostly disastrous - and that's where Dave, Linda, and Marty get their picture taken. In the LP Timeline, they went on many more family trips - with Oak Ridge Lodge being Marty's favourite. Linda does, once again, win tickets to Wishing Well Resort - and, this time around, the family trip goes far more smoothly. Dave, Linda, and Marty also get their picture taken - on this trip. Speaking of the picture - I think, in the final timeline, the photo would look a little different. It's not even really the clothes that I think would be different, but I just think the siblings would look much happier - and Dave and Linda wouldn't look so scruffy. I don't think George and Lorraine were also all that rich - since, by October 26, George's first novel was just released. Even if they were, though, it doesn't mean that they can't ever dress casually. 12/31/2008 . Edited 12/31/2008 #451 |
![]() 1. no 2. yes 3. yes 12/31/2008 #452 |
![]() For numbers two and three, would that apply to both timelines - or just the LP Timeline? :) 12/31/2008 #453 |
![]() 1. Do you think Marty ever went through a phase of not liking girls? -Maybe when he was a little kid, until Hannah saved his ass. 2. Do you think Marty ever went to summer camp? -I'm not sure. Maybe. 3. Do you think Marty's family liked taking summer trips. -Not really. 1/01/2009 #454 |
![]() 1. Personally, I really don't like the idea of Marty ever not liking girls. I'd hate to think that he was ever a prejudiced kind of person. 2. Actually, it was only just the other day that I thought of summer camp. I'm thinking that, when LP Marty was 12, he decided to go to summer camp - and his parents were willing to pay his way. TP Marty, on the other hand, didn't get to go to summer camp that year. 3. You don't think Marty's family in the LP Timeline ever liked going on family trips? I think it'd be a good way for them to do some family bonding. 1/01/2009 #455 |
![]() 1. I think Marty just had a 5-year-old's view of the stereotypical girl, until Hannah saved his ass. 2. I actually don't know if Marty ever went to camp. I never thought about it. 3. I'm pretty sure Marty's family spent time together on vacations to Disney World, or Disney Land, or something. 1/02/2009 #456 |
![]() I guess I just prefer the idea of Marty having always been nice. 1/02/2009 #457 |
![]() Believe me, so do I, I just think that Marty was maybe a little shy. And he was kind of scared of the meaner girls. 1/02/2009 . Edited 1/31/2009 #458 |
![]() Okay, that makes a little more sense! In other words, then, he didn't actively dislike girls - he was just a little frightened around them? 1/02/2009 #459 |
![]() Yeah, until Hannah saves his ass. 1/03/2009 #460 |
![]() I got it! :) You should read my second chapter of the Narnia fic. There are three Martins in there. :) 1/03/2009 . Edited 1/03/2009 #461 |

![]() I can't believe it took me almost three years, but I finally decided that George and Lorraine marry on August 20 in 1960. I thought of 1960 as being the year to marry, for quite some time. Some might consider November 12 to be the obvious date - but, for some reason, I was kind of resistant against that. It's a "nice round number", it's a Saturday, and it occurs the month just prior to BTTF season. In the LP/Eastwood timeline, if would give George and Lorraine four years to attend college. In the TP Timeline, George doesn't attend college. I'm not sure if Lorraine would. In the A Timeline, Biff and Lorraine marry on that same day - but in 1973. It was done deliberately, by the way. Biff insisted on it. It would be a Monday, by the way. Almost fitting, eh? 3/18/2009 . Edited 3/18/2009 #463 |
![]() Yup. 3/19/2009 #464 |
![]() I guess I just went with 1960, due to it being a "nice round number" - and the same with 1990, when Marty and Jenn tie the knot. 3/21/2009 #465 |
![]() I personally think George and Lorraine got married earlier than 1960. 3/21/2009 #466 |
![]() Was it quite common in those days for people to marry, while still being in college? 3/21/2009 #467 |
![]() Yes. But the women usually drop out once they get married. 3/21/2009 #468 |
![]() Well, if we take the part in the novel as canon - where George's father is down on him attending college - I don't think either George or Lorraine of the TP Timeline went to college. In the LP Timeline, though, I think they both went - and graduated after four years. 3/21/2009 #469 |
![]() I think they went to college, regardless. 3/22/2009 #470 |
![]() I don't think Lorraine went. Back in the 50s, women usually went to college to find husbands. 3/22/2009 . Edited 3/22/2009 #471 |
![]() Meh, I still think she went, regardless. 3/22/2009 #472 |
![]() I think she would go - even if it's to (1) be with George, and (2) get away from his parents for awhile. 3/22/2009 #473 |
![]() Hey, I have a question for all of you. Do you think Marty seemed a little put off, when Clara thanked him for his "gallantry"? I mean, intellectually, I think he understood that Clara meant well - but, emotionally, he maybe couldn't help but feel as if Clara was insinuating that Marty's own relationship with Doc wasn't as meaningful. 3/22/2009 #474 |
![]() I think Marty was kind of panicked about the next day, and the beginnings of the stress were starting to show up. Or he was just tired. 3/24/2009 #475 |
![]() That could be true, too. Still, I do think he might've also felt slightly offended that Clara didn't seem to realize that Doc also meant a lot to him. 3/24/2009 #476 |
![]() Yeah, that's entirely possible, too. 3/24/2009 #477 |
![]() Inwardly, I'm sure Marty understood that Clara was just being gracious - and knew that it would be uncharitable to snap back at her. Still, I think he felt if she underestimated the importance of his own relationship with Doc. Of course, there was also the fact that Marty seemed to be rather uneasy over the whole relationship with Doc and Clara - as he was quite anxious to return to 1985. 3/24/2009 #478 |
![]() Probably. 3/24/2009 #479 |
![]() In all fairness, if someone that Marty didn't know too well was in danger of being shot, I'd like to think that Marty would also rescue that person. I guess Marty had the reverse emotions in Part One, when Lorraine acted as if him rescuing her was Biff was proof that he himself was in love with her - rather than figuring that Marty did it, simply because it was the right thing to do. Okay, yeah, I suppose there was also the fact that she was his mother - but I think Marty would've done it, even if he didn't know her. 3/25/2009 . Edited 3/25/2009 #480 |
