Lord LoreTopic: Jusenkyo's powers
Due to the fact, that Mouse tried to curse Akane with the Water he brought from China (same thing Pantyhose Taro tried later on with Happosai) one would Think, that the magic lies within the water, but I think, this doesn't work out properly, because once the valey was flooded, there was no way only the water that has been in a spring BEFORE the whole Jusendo incident could still be in the same spring afterwards. I don't see any way around the merging of several springs. If we take this aproach, only the spring itself can give the magic to the water (or maybe any liquid) it contains. This implies, that any liquid could become cursed, if it was just put on the right ground... just a little idea I had, what do you think? | #1 Jul 03rd, 8:27am . Edited Jul 03rd, 8:29am | |

MZephyrI think that trying to figure out any logic for Jusenkyo will be difficult at best, but we can give it a try. It seems clear that the water from one of the pools will curse a person, even if it is not currently in the pool. Even if it has been carried hundreds of miles away. It was also made clear that the source water for Jusenkyo has special properties, but does not itself cause a transformation curse before it emerges from the ground. Furthermore, water emerging in a newly dug spring does not cause a transformation curse, but is ready to have a curse imprinted on it. So it seems reasonable that it is the particular pool in which the water emerges which sets its curse, and thereafter the water bears that curse. I don't think that pouring any liquid into the pool would cause that liquid to bear the curse. I think the guide made it reasonably clear that it had to be water from the source under Jusendo. These are described as springs, and water does flow into them from the source under Jusendo. So even though it is not pictured, the water in the pools must flow out of them somehow. I suppose the guide waited until the pools were, for all practical purposes, refreshed with new water before he gathered water from the Nanniichuan for Ranma's wedding gift. I have seen the suggestion made by others that the dirt lining the pools carries the curse template, and that some type of processing applied to dirt gathered from inside the pools is used to manufacture the Instant Cursed Spring powders. |

Lord LoreThat's quite reasonable, thanks any idea what might happen if you boil cursed water and splash somebody with it? This subject is so incredibly... open... ;) |

MZephyrThe obvious thought would be that the curse is still in effect, but that the transformation would occur when splashed with hot water instead of cold, and that it would be cold water which would restore the original form. I have a vague recollection of reading in some fan-fiction that in one of the pools, the water emerged as a hot spring, and it had this behavior. |

Lord LoreI thought so too. Guess it would be way easier to handle a hot water curse... since rain and pools and stuff are usualy cold... |

MZephyrPresumably. The same principle has been used for individuals who, for one reason or another, wish to remain in their cold-water cursed form for a period of time. For example, Ranma, pretending to be a girl for Akane's sake, in the first few chapters of Ranma, the Second Time Around by kayemsi. |
