I feel stupid for asking this....what's a magic system?

A system for how to use magic. I don't want people to be able to godmod useing spells.

different levels of magic for how ever many years you practice. like if you have 5 or less years of practice you have so many points to put in different places.

For 1 year of training you can have one advanced spell and 3-5 mildly good spells then any random number you are crap at

Example: Hector: 1 year or training

1 spell he's awesome at: invisibility

3-5 spells he minors in: element enchantments on his arrows

and he knows random crap projectile one's that only go a couple of feet
