Topic: Yuffie and Reno [Reffie]

Yuffie and Reno. Ninja and Turk. And my favorite pairing.

At first in the game, I thought since their differences and everything, they could seriously get together. It's just kind of like Vincent and Yuffie, right?

Then in Advent Children, Reno was more laid back and all. Searching FFN for some Reno fics, I stumbled onto a Reffie one. And I loved it. It was halarious most of all, and had a lot entertaning moments and such. I then read a few more, and came to like this pairing.

Ok, some may say there's like an age gap. But as long as it's under 8 years it's alright? And they don't interact enough in the game and AC together. But hey! That's what fanfiction is for, right?

So here, you can discuss anything about Reffie, do you like it or dislike it? Opinions and thoughts? And know any good Reffie fics that you'd recomend to others?

I was a Reffie fan for like...a week and for no reason too, a long time ago. But I jumped over to the ReRis and ReTi ships. To this day I dislike Reffie because it makes no sense to me, granted ReTi and ReRis doesn't make much sense either, but at least Reno interracted with Aeris and Tifa none optionally (plus he knows their names and visa-versa). Yuffie and Reno don't even know each others names, nor do they share any interraction at all, even in Wutai.

Besides, Yuffie is way too immature, loud, and lacks patience, she would eventually become a bother to Reno since he too has little patience, as he proved with Elena, who is loud and sort of obnoxious like Yuffie. All in all, their personalities just don't mesh to me, Reno would get ** with Yuffie daily and will eventually end up babysitting her and not dating her. That's my views on Reffie, and you probably can't change 'em because I just can't see them together.

As for fic recomindations, some I've read are from Crystal Snowflakes so browse her coloum, but I can't really suggest anything else besides Family Affair.

Yeah, in the beginning, I was like wth? those two would never ever end up together and thought the person was crazy too. Well I still think they make a funny couple because the fics are pretty funny and stuff. But It's amusing to see Reno act the way he is and Yuffie too. As for Reno babysitting Yuffie....that sounds funny and choatic!

How old IS Reno anyway? Oh well, the Yuffentine age gap is 11 years and nothing can beat that... unless you put Marlene with one of the old Shin-Ra dudes, but that, my friend, is called pedophilia and is very much illegal.

Well, Reffie doesn't bother me. Reno's personality is interpreted in many ways, so depending on the author's interpretation of Reno, it could work. Although... I haven't really looked any deeper into Reffie than that...

I'm a strange, strange girl. I'm a Relena fan. Elena is similar to Yuffie, but she doesn't steal and I find her to be a bit on the fragile side where Yuffie just seems annoying and hyper.

Well like I heard, Reno joined the Turks/Spilder or whatever at 15. Plus one year of training so he'd be 16, and I supose that is when before crisis took place. Then if you add four years to the game, Reno would be 21. Then plus two years for AC and he's 23. But I really don't know or anything, it's just what I've heard and all =D

I once saw a Yuffie/Cid fic. Definately not my thing. Nope, I prefer(and write) RElena and ReTi, my two favs. I do enjoy the occasional well-written Reffie as well, but prefer that they be set a few years post-game.

I feel icky reading Yuffentine. It makes me think of Vincent as some sort of violator, even though that's not really valid in an argument against Yuffentines.

She's 16 and he's 27. I'd say you've a pretty valid argument there, at least for Yuffentines that take place before AC.

Reffie... meh. It's fine, I s'pose. It'd be hard to get the two of them together, mainly because they don't know each other, but if it's done right, I certainly don't have a problem with it.

As for Yuffie/Cid, I once asked my sister who she thought would be best for Cid... and yes, she said Yuffie. (She also added something along the lines of "this would be disturbing yadda yadda yadda", but hey, she DID say Yuffie.) I think it's because they'd be very funny.

...okay, that was a very stupid conversation, but you get the jist. It'd be like a sitcom. Think Everybody Love Raymond's Marie and Robert. It'd be sorta like that... just seventy years younger... and about fifteen years apart...

Reffies, they're OK for me, but the way the plot forms in Reffie's are kind of getting repeatative, but then again, what dosen't? I like Reffie's and think that they're a great couple together. I love the way Reno is, and although Yuffie was sorta annoying in the beginning, I began to like her a lot more.

I actually really enjoy writing and reading Reffies, just because they both are caught between the void of maturity and childishness. Their petty disregard for rules and, oftentimes, other people's feelings display their immaturity, and yet the grit they oftentimes show in tough situations (i.e. Reno) both make for an interesting read.

And so what if they didn't acknowledge each other in the game? I used Yuffie in enough Turk battles, and that's just fine for me. I really don't see how knowing each other in the game had anything to do with it: One of my favorite fics had a Vincent/Elena pairing, and I don't think they even glanced in the other's general direction either. To me, it depends on the writer, not one-dimensional characters. (Which, in the game, both Reno and Yuffie were.)

I guess I just don't understand how Reffie isn't a plausible cannon when Aeris/Sephiroth is. (I don't see how people could want it: SHE'S dead, HE killed her! That's a pairing I just can't bring myself to terms with, no matter how talented the writer...)

Oh, how I wish! The author deemed it 'crap', which was absolutely proposterous, and threw it out because fifteen chapters "only" got fifty reviews.

It made me really sad.

Not to toot my own horn or anything, but I'm working on short right now for them. But anyway, back on topic. If anyone has trouble seeing a Yuffie/ Reno fic, go read Pip Malloy. Seriously.

[rant]I hate when people cite a lack of interaction for deeming a couple impossible. Yuffie and Vincent really only talked to Cloud the entire freakin' game. By that logic, most fics would be Yuffie/Cloud/Vincent.[/rant]

Sorry, had to get that off my chest. Hope I didn't offend anyone. That said, I don't mind Reno/Yuffie. I like Reno, but...it's wrong. They're too similar, I could see them friends, more readily than a couple. Frankly, I think Yuffie would go well with anyone, but I'll forever hold Yuffentine as my favorite couple. Period.

Even though I am currently writing a Kadaj/Yuffie/Sephiroth fic. Shut up! :)

OPh no you didn't offend anyone. I don't really like it iether when people are like "This couple shouldn't be together becasue they never communicated in teh game!" That's what fanfics are for....

And I read your Fic....You are off to a really good start, an dI'd like to see how things would turn out!

That would be me! I read one almost two years ago, and I have to say, it was great! I'm actually trying my hand at it, but efforts so far haven't been up to par. *shakes fists at writer's block*
