I really like this pairing but not on the fluffy side. Just big, creepy Jafar-is-a-pervert all the way for me. I am very disturbed.

Sorry but... can I ask why and how?

I can't see anything happen between them, it's just... like pairing a mouse with a giraffe. Jafar has not a good bone in him, and to transform him into a pudding of 'I'm good only people don't understand me' just to match him with Jasmine... can I say is plain horrible? I'd rather go read an Harmony novel if I have to see that kind of plot.

Else, it means a girl like Jasmine, young, a bit spoiled, with all the ideas and dreams of a 'prisoner' princess gets to like him. Again, why? Insanity? Stoccolma syndrome? I can't picture her sitting beside him on the throne and watch him toruture people for enjoyment.

I didn't show any disrespect to any opinion as far as I can see re-reading my post, if I'm mistaken, feel free to point it out. The topic asked for both positive and negative opinions, thus, I was entitled to to say, I think it's not a good pairin.

I just came here to look for a civil discussion: I pointed out the reasons why I can't see it working and asked for people to reply with the reason why they do see it working, instead. If someone would humor me, I'd be happy :) .

I understand your point. I myself hate it when Jafar is turned into a nice guy...I just keep him evil. But the fact is people like the pairing because it's totally Heroine/Vilian which almost everyone enjoys on fanfiction. Also their is a bit of canon evidence that he's got a thing for her in the movie what with, "i wish for the Princess to fall madly in love with me," and of course that terrifying Jafar/Jasmine smoochy bit. So there's actually quite alot of reasons why we like this pairing. Yeah...

I like the fluff but what I don't like is when people turn Aladdin into a total jerk and make Jasmine want to dump him.

About the canon evidence, from Jafar's side I can almost agree (thought I believe most to be lust and desire of possession toward the most beautiful girl of the realm rather than love) but from Jasmine's side? The kiss was done out of necessity and there weren't much signs that pointed in the opposite direction.

How do you see her fall in love with the gran visir?

As for liking the 'Heroin/Villain' couples, that's personal taste and I won't go there.

@jafarjasmine... (sorry, your nick is too long X3): you have my total support on this, though I take it as a general concept. To me, all pairings can be justified (even by just 'I like them togheter'), but when someone writes about them I want to see a good reason why two people that hated each other end togheter. Completely changing a character out of the blue to rip the canon couple or put toghter the fanon ones is practically cheating to me. If they love that pairing so much, they can waste the effort to make interesting the way the two chars get togheter!

Personally I like this pairing. It's very . . . interesting. However, i have to agree that it can sometimes get annoying when Jafar turns into a good guy to be with Jasmine. Because perso nally, I can't ever see him as a nice guy. In my Jafar/Jasmine fics i always have Jafar remain a villain. Sure, my characterization is probably a little bit askew (Jafar may get a little tiny bit nicer" But he still is a villain through and through. That's my take on the situation

I've made him a good guy, though only if done properly. One thing that kind of annoys me is this plot: Aladdin falls for some other chick, and breaks it off with Jasmine then she's all wild over Jafar.

I think that it is okay to make Jafar a good guy once in awhile. And i do like your stories. They are definitly interesting. Though I have to say i avoid the Aladdin/Jafar stories because i am just that kind of person who thinks slash between Female/female or male/male is kind of icky. But i respect peoples opinions. Anyway i'm sort of rambling. I just don't like it when people make Jafar overly nice. I mean come on, no villain could change completely, even if they really did love someone. BUt like i said, that's just my opinion, because to me Jafar will always be a villain.

No that never did happen in the movie. But there are a lot of fan fics written about Jafar ind Jasmine ending up together instead of Aladdin and Jasmine

just browse the Aladdin section and you will find a lot of this pairing. Some of it is decent, some is kind of weird, and some is in the middle, but it is all . . . interesting.

I like Jafar/Jasmine as a pairing (I write it, it would be a bit of problem if I didn't like the pairing...), but I don't like stories where Jafar suddenly becomes this wonderfully nice person because of Jasmine (he can become nicer, just not nice), or the story just flings the pair together with no build-up or backstory.

I like Jafar/Jasmine as a couple. I like creativity.

However, I like Mozenrath/Jasmine more. (Mozenrath is a villain from the TV series in case anyone doesn't know).

I admit I used to be the type of person who bashed villain/heroine couples. But I like them now.

The reason why I lean towards Mozenrath/Jasmine is because I have a friend who hates Jafar/Jasmine. I tried to talk her out of it but alas...

I never would have thought that Jafar/Jasmine would be recognized as a could-be couple. I find it... disgusting. Odd. Disturbing. That's just cuz I hate Jafar though. I don't mind it if anyone else likes the couple, but my opinion? *barfs*
