Slowly, Jackson stood up in the grassy field.

"Where am I...?"

[I'm here!]

A few ways off, an eastern wolf was walking through the field. On his back was a parchment with a strange insignia sign on the front. "This place is creepy..." he muttered.

After picking himself up, Jackon began to wander slowly into the field, hoping to find any source of civilization.

"Damnit. No people."

The wolf continued to wander, sniffing the air. Then he blinked. "A human?"

Feeling the air begin to stir, Jackson fell stiff with his hand upon the hilt of his blade.

The wolf stopped short and sat down. "What's he doing?"

Then, with an unexpected stir, Jackson inhaled deeply and roared threateningly.

"Show yourself!"

The wolf started, jumped out and fell over, staring at Jackson with wide eyes. "D-don't kill me! I-I was just..." he whimpered, his tail between his legs.

Jackson turned slowly and looked at the wolf with icy green eyes. However, despite this glare, he slowly walked over and began to smooth the wolf's fur as he flinched.

The wolf looked confused. "Wh-what're you doing?"

Jackson showed no emotion as he answered.

"Fear me not, young one. I am not your enemy, nor a threat to you in any way." He stated as he softly patted the wolf's head.

The wolf sat up and nodded. "Okay......I'm Iblis! Who're you?" he asked, panting.

Jackson sat down beside the wolf, hiding his mouth in his collar.

"Jackson. Jackson Aldretch."

"Iblis Kret. What're you doing out here, sir?"

Jackson looked away.

"I...Really don't know. What about you?"

Iblis shook his head. "Woke up a few ways off and that's all I remember. Why do you ask?"

Jackson looked back.

"Just asking."

Iblis nodded and un-rolled his parchment.

Jackson blinked and looked at the parchment.

"I found this after I woke up. Can't figure out what it says though." Iblis frowned slightly.

Jackson nodded and looked back into the field.

"Looks like we're gonna be here a while."

Iblis looked as well. "Why?"

Jackson just scanned the area.

"Look around. There's no exit to this place in sight for miles, and even then, who knows if it's blocked? We may as well try and set up at least somewhat survivable living arrangements."

Iblis titled his head to one side. "O-oh.....Okay. You're the boss."

Jackson continued to look away.

"Something wrong?"

"No. It's good." he rolled onto his back. "Now what?"

Jackson, absentmindedly rubbing Iblis's stomach, continued to look at the sky.

"We should probably find some lumber, or something of the sort. We need to make actual cabins, or something to live in at least."

Iblis nodded, enjoying his stomach being rubbed. "Okay....What about food?"

"There's bound to be herbs, probably animals to hunt."

"Okay! I can do that!" With that, Iblis charged forwards and tripped.

Jackson gunted as he went over and helped the wolf up.

Iblis grinned sheepishly. "S-sorry. That usually happens when I hurry." he looked back at the field. "I don't see any animals."

Jackson nodded.

"Let's try and get situated first, we'll deal with food a little later."

Iblis nodded and blinked. "But....I don't see anything worth building with."

Jackson stood up.

"Well, let's go look then."

Iblis followed him and once again tripped. This time it was over a log. "Found one!" he called.

Jackson walked over and picked up the log.

"Good job."

Iblis set off and soon came back with more logs. "This good?"

Jackson nodded.

"Just a few more."

Iblis came back again with a pile of logs. "Need any more?"

Jackson shook his head.

"I think we're set."

Iblis nodded. "What should we build?"

[You've made me want this to become a video game now. xD]

Jackson shrugged.

"Something like a cabin maybe."

[Yeah, I know what you mean."

Iblis nodded and started to pile the logs up in the shape of a cabin.

[Question: Are they gonna to every place mentioned in History of the Deadlands or just stay here?]

[Every place mentioned once more people actually SHOW UP and the story goes farther.]

Jackson grabbed a few and began to help.

[Makes sense.]

Iblis stood back to admire their work. "Cool! We finished it!" he cheered happily.

Jackson just looked at it.

"Amazing how quick that was done."

Iblis nodded. "I know. ...Now what?"

Jackson shrugged.

"Hunting?"

Iblis sniffed the air. "A deer that way." he pointed west.
