Topic: Heath Ledger to be the next Joker: Your Thoughts?
heard about this announcement a couple days ago (August 1st) and I've gotta say . . . they're gonna have to convince me with this choice of actor for the joker. I was near tears when I heard it on E! ENTERTIANMENT; Me and my sister both. "Calamity!" We both said. To be honest, I'm kinda peeved they used the Joker (again) in this upcoming BATMAN movie. I mean, next to Ra's and Scarecrow (movie wise), he's the worse of Batman's villains. But aren't there other conventional-logical Batman villains to use besides the Joker?

Anyhow, I'm not sure how they're gonna pull this off. I've heard that they plan on making a Joker without the trademark Purple Suit and White Face paint, which kinda makes me wonder . . . what the heck kind of joker would that be? I keep thinking they're gonna let Heath Ledger keep his accent, wear a [black] suit and just kill people in a manner the Joker would. Though he can fake a pretty good American Accent. I scratch my head at this nevertheless.

[Shrugs]

Like I said, they're gonna have to CONVINCE me.

No. Heath Ledger is just too young, even if it is in the begining. Cillian Murphy as Crane was pushing it, but no, Heath just doesn't do it for me. Okay, he's cute, but why? The Joker's supposed to be a villian. In other words, not loved! This will probabally mean that Harley Quinne will be in it, but I just don't get the Joker. Get me an actor of about mid thirties to very early fourtys. THEN we'll talk.

I say Keanu Reeves wearing a lot of make-up, or Nic Cage. It fits the Joker better...

I think Cillian Murphy did a great job as Crane, but I catch the drift. I'm not really sure who should play the next Joker.

I think that Scarecrow isn't going to appear in the next movie. Usualy, the castlist will be completed (at least the main one) in about two to three months prior to filming. So far, I haven't seen Cillian Murphy.

I heard somewhere that he'll come back in the following one, though.

Heath Leadger has some big shoes to fill with Jack Nicolson being the previous Joker and with fan expectations.

I just had to drag this one back up from the depths of old-topic-dom.

Judging by the most recent trailer, Heath Ledger's Joker is completely batshit insane and it looks like he truly had a blast creating a very psychopathic character. I had my own doubts to start with, but he's cancelled 'em all out with his drastic transformation, his terrifying laugh and his penchant for sharp objects and explosions. He will be missed.

HE'S THE BEST. NO COMPETiTION.

Ahem. Sorry. I got very attached to Joker in this movie, but I felt that Jack Nicholson had a very different interpretation of the character. Heath Ledger had more of a sociopathic terrorist approach, and he paid attention to each and every detail of that path.
