Privately owned by Cain Kurayami, the father of Shiki, Nell, and Kurayami, and universal enemy #1.

This island is located far off of the coast of Japan and is cloaked with high tech devices. This island isn't accessible without Cain's conscious awareness. The seas around the island are rough, and it is impossible to get there by boat or AT without the proper equipment. Flying is improbable due to there being no landing platform.

They arrived inside of some sort of large room. Still being held by Kurayami, Michiru threw up.

"What the hell!" Kurayami tossed her ahead of him,

"Now, now be gentle with her please." Cain spoke as he entered the room behind them. "Sorry about the fast travel, Kurayami's "Jump" is a lot more unpleasant then Nagi's.

Michiru fell hard on her hands and knees when he pushed her. She gradually transitioned into dry-heaves when her stomach was empty and then the spasm's stopped. When the room stopped spinning she rose back to her feet.

She glared at where the man stood. "What do you want with me?" Michiru demanded, getting right to the point. "Cut the fake nice cr*p! I know you didn't come here to just talk. Where did you take me? How did you get rid of that hurricane so easily?"

Cain chuckled. "I see why Shiki-kun likes you so much. I bet you keep him in line don't you?" he cleared his throat "I need your unmatched tunning ability." he walked towards her. "You see, I've been working on AT since long before you were born, as long as the great Dr. Minami and in all that time I have never come across someone who has had your level of ability." he explained. "I need that ability, to complete a little project I've been working on."

She placed her hands on her hips and narrowed her eyes at him. "And what makes me think I'm going to help you complete it?" She crossed her arms and moved back from him, being wary of the man. "What would you do? Have me tortured to submission? Ha! As if! There is nothing you can do that would make me change my mind." she bluffed.

Cain laughed, not a sadistic, not even a classic villian laugh, but a humbled chuckled of a father seeing his child pout. "I see you're just perfect for my Shiki-Kun." he spoke in a light voice as he laughed a little more, "I'd find Shki and rip his heart out and take his blood stained AT as a gift for you." he continued in the same light hearted voice.

She visibly flinched. "You wouldn't!" Shiki-kun... Shiki got thrown seven blocks with just a wave of this guy's hand.. "You...you can't!!" Michiru faultered. He wouldn't... last a minute...

"Shiki-Kun is one of my favorite experiments and every day he lives is brilliant data added, but in the end, he has ultimately severed his purpose, on top of that he also lead me to you. In short, without a second thought I would." He spoke his voice still calm.

The sound of a hard smack echoed throughout the room. Cain's cheek was an even darker shade of red than before. Michiru stood in front of him, her hand still raised. "Your a monster! What kind of man would kill his own kid for power?!"

"The same monster that birthed him for it. Shiki was never ment for anything more. He was created to kill, then be killed. It's all there is to it."

"I'm not going to let you kill him for your own selfish gains!" She shouted angered.

Cain smiled. "You know, I'd almost believe you two were in love, if it weren't for you being in highschool. I mean the way you two stand up for each other, it's quite honorable." he straighten his tie, "However no matter how much you argue, Shiki will die, and it will be through my doing. The question isn't if but when."

Kurayami stood silent, watching the two interact.

"Not unless I kill you first.." She muttered darkly under her breath. Maybe if I distract him long enough he'll forget about the project or whatever it was. "So I guess that means Kurayami would end up dead too," she said aloud, glancing over at the teen. "You hear that? He's killing you too when he's done with you. "

"He killed me a long time ago." Kurayami replied darkly his voice filled with sorrow.

"Oh come now son, I didn't "Kill" you... Break you, though I did the same to Shiki and he dosn't... I suppose he does, all right be that way." Cain spoke in a jesting tone.

She looked at the two of them wearily. "Broke..him..? What exactly...?" If he did that to his own sons...what would he do to... Unconsciously, her right hand rested on her abdomen....our child..

"Oh that, that was just a little social experiment I did, turned out quite nice really, for me." he laughed again. "You see I got this idea..." he pulled a phone from his jacket. "Oh my seems I must go check on something. "Kurayami, be a dear and escort her to her room." he smiled turned and exited the room.

Michiru muttered some unintelligible insult intended for Cain bus he left. She looked at Kurayami half expectantly. "Why do you follow what he says?" She asked after a few moments of silence.

Kurayami looked at her, his first reaction was to mock her but seeing her, and the situation she was in, some part of him felt pity, for what she was about to experience. "Why not..." he responded his voice filled with sorrow.

Michiru was suprised that he showed some actual kind of emotion other than hostility. It caught her off guard. "W-well.. you could have a life.. a future.... You could even be happy and free. I mean, just look at Shiki and Nagi and everyone else who's still out there riding in this war.... Why be miserable here?"

"No matter how happy they become, they'll always feel the same as I do, on the inside." Kurayami replied. "When a human is pushed as we were there are three out comes, I'm one, Shiki's another and Nagi was the third, but no matter what we are still have the same empty feeling on the inside."

"Yeah, but they both found people they love to help fill that void." Michiru smiled. "You're the only one I know of that doesn't have a special other.."

"There no point. We were created to fulfill our purpose, as much as Shiki may fight against it, he knows deep down that he can't escape it, none of us can." Kurayami replied. "It's his own fault."

"That's enough!" Michiru grabbed his hand. Despite her being a tuner, her hands were more soft and warm than his. "You are the only person who decides your own fate. If he really doesn't want to, then Shiki won't allow himself to be killed by that man. You are free to choose what you will do with you life. The future isn't set in stone Kurayami, and it''s never too late to change..."

"He never told you what they did to us, did he? I suspected not, it's not something you just tell people" Kurayami asked, "Do you want to know why Shiki came to Japan?"

"Why?" Michiru asked. It was something that she had always wondered, but could never seem to bring up or find the time to talk about. When they arrived at the room Michiru stopped outside the door ant turned to him, waiting for the story. 'well?

"Because..." Kurayami unzipped his jacket fully for the first time, showing his face, "He killed the first girl he ever loved."

Michiru sighed."riight.."

"Your kidding, right?"

"No..." Kurayami let himself into the room. It was rather plain, a bed in one corner a desk on the opposite side of the room and a sofa in another corner. "Our first few years of life were normal. We spent them with a small community of other children. It was nice, a feeling of belonging. Then once we turned 4 that's when it changed, we were selected form all the others for a... Special assignment, we were taken from our home and brought to the facility. There they preformed numerous test on us, before finally giving us our first pair of AT." he paused. "That was when my fate was sealed, Shiki's, his came some time after." his voice growing soft.
