Yes, grammar and spelling are important, but I don't think there's a single one of us on this site who couldn't be absolutely demolished by a writer of greater skill. I've been writing for a while now, and the chief thing I've learned is that the better the writer, the less they are interested in fixing the mistakes of other -- unless they've been specifically asked.

I do welcome concrit, and never deleted a flame to one of my stories, although the ones I have gained so far were anonymous ones I could have gotten rid of. the only "reviews" I ever reported as abuse where obscene spam ones. But still, if I would have a whole group of people starting to pick on my stories, pointing out every possible flaw, and encouraging others to do so, I doubt I would remain very open to critique or looking for mistakes in my story.
