Chug shook his head.

"In the store behind us... help yorselff"

"That girl bugs me sometimes" Ember muttered, as she followed Carson. "Nice to know one of you had some integrity"

"Integrity's one of the few things I have left," Carson said darkly as they continued deeper into the city.

"And genorosity, apparently... Thanks for saving my ass back there" Ember said, walking with him.

Carson said, "It's what I do. Don't worry about it."

Ember nodded.

"Let's just find a way out of this city... Nuthin' but scars here"

"Never truer words," Carson replied, picking up the pace a little bit.

Ember nodded, as she walked.

She bit her lip, and winced as some pain shot through her hand, but she shrugged it off.

"How's your hand?" Carson asked as they walked.

"It'll heal... I'll just have to use my other hand to fire instead... Thank the Goddess for ambidexterity" Ember said.

Carson nodded in agreement.

Suddenly, he held up a fist. "Wait a second. I think I heard something."

The safety on Ember's gun immediatly flicked off, and she nodded quietly.

Carson peered cautiously around the next corner.

Ember pressed herself to the wall, holding her rifle to her chest.

Carson spotted three werewolves. From what he could tell, it was two males fighting over a mate.

What complicated this problem was that they weren't the little pups they'd met up with earlier. No, these were fully-grown and mutated werewolves, well worth their fearsome titles.

Ember watched Carson patiently.

Carson ducked back around the corner. He whispered to Ember, "Three werewolves up ahead. Fully grown."

"Shit..." She whispered. "...You got any silver on you?"

Brutus nodded. "No bullets, but the blade on my knife has got some welded onto it."

"Well, no offence, bud, but you ain't big enough to take them on with just a knife" Ember remarked.

Carson bit his lip.

"Shit...we can try going around, but we need to warn the Company not to come this way."

"Too risky... They're a problem... we need to deal with them, somehow" Ember said.

"I've got a plan," Carson said. "It might work. But if it doesn't, I need you to warn the Company that we've got a serious problem here. I'll come back to meet up with you if I survive."

Ember raised an eyebrow.

"What're you gonna do?"

"If I tell you, you'll try to stop me," replied Carson. "Trust me on this one...it's better if you don't know."

Ember stared at him for a moment, before she flicked her safety on.

"Don't be an ass and try for any heroics" She told him.

"No promises," Carson said. "Now get moving."

Ember nodded, and started jogging away.

"Dibs on the knife" She muttered, before dissappearing.

Carson watched her go.

He cracked his knuckles. It was time to do what he did best.

Elvina was still walking silently with the rest of the group.

Ember silently made her way back to the Company.
