"You can rest in my dwelling, if you wish?" Zerlinda asked him.

Arkkan stood up as Patience seemed to finish up.

The woman nodded, "Of course, thank you."

Patience smiled and nodded before heading out of the bedroom.

Arkkan followed Patience out.

Patience smiled to the father, "Both are doing fine," she reassured him, "I'll stop by again next week. Find me if anything goes wrong."

The man nodded, "Of course, thank you."

Arkkan watched the man whilst Patience spoke before he followed her again.

The man escorted them out, "Good day, Miss,"

"Good day to you also, sir," Patience said, heading away from the house.

"See ya" Arkkan said, when he was facing away from the man.

Patience shushed him, "You're going to give yourself away," she murmured, although a smile was playing on her face from the man's confused look. "They'll burn you and me as witches."

"Yeah, but that never works, right?" Arkkan whispered to her.

Patience raised her eyebrows at him, "I don't know about you, but I'm not impervious to fire."

"I thought you could make a spell that makes it just tickle?"

Patience stopped and looked at him, "What?"

"I said there's probably spells to make it tickle"

Patience looked at him in surprise.

"What?" Arkkan asked.

"H-How would I know anything about that?"

Arkkan shrugged. "Most people are never what the seem"

Patience glanced warily at him.

"You're talking to a rune-covered werewolf and you're non-plussed" Arkkan pointed out. "Surely it's not inconceiveable to think you have tricks up your sleeve?"

"Perhaps I'm just open minded. They're more open minded back in Cambodia than here."

Arkkan shrugged. "People are usually open-minded because there's a part of themselves that's out of the ordinary"

"Not always," Patience said, glancing over her shoulder.

"But more often than not" Arkkan said. "Besides, even if you're not completely human, you don't have to hide it from me"

Patience looked down at him and over her shoulder, worried that someone would hear what he was saying.

"You'd think I'd be talking if I thought somebody was around?" Arkkan asked her.

Patience sighed slightly.

Arkkan meerly nodded.

"Just because the fire doesn't hurt when it touches you, doesn't mean that it won't still kill you."

"That sounds more like a metaphor than the truth" Arkkan remarked.

"It's the truth."
