Angel of Music loverTopic: Edward!! Hi I'm just a hopeless Burton fan among other things... lol!! So how many fell in love with Edward when you watched Edward Scissorhands? I know I did because he was just so innocent acting and sweet... I know that I sound so psychotic right now... don't ask... |
|
darksoul0016If you're psychotic then I'm psychotic too! He was so innocent, just like a little kid. I laughed so hard when he ran away from what's-her-face and met up with them in the restaurant and told them what happened. It went right over the dad's head! He was just like "That's nice."*checks herself into psych ward for insane Burton love* DS | #2 Mar 19th 2006, 10:09am

Lohtc KarhsimWe watched it and during it we had to fill out a worksheet called "Story Anylasus (can't spell it)" Which is like a story web. While watching it we had to fill out quistions like. Setting, Where, when, Major Characters, Miner Characters, Plot, Events, ETC. We do many of these. | #5 Mar 30th 2006, 11:49am

Angel of Music loverReally?? They showed it in a school?? Wow... my teachers were never that cool... lol!!! zHellasHey! If I met Edward I'd try to befriend him as fast as possible! |
|
Angel of Music loverWell... honestly I think I would be a little nervous at first... but I would still want to make an effort to get to know him and would probably fall in love... lol!!! So sweet... it's sad but I don't even have this movie... I have about every other Tim Burton movie but this one... *sigh* |
|
darksoul0016Seriously, if he weren't bigger than me, I think I would pick him up and cuddle him. *sweatdrop* Again with the adorable innocence. *dives back into the straightjacket* | #10 Jun 24th 2006, 9:41am

NordyGirlEdward Scissorhands is a tragically beautiful movie. He opened up his heart to the world, only to have it crushed again...so sad...I'm in tears...*pops in Edward Scissorhands DVD| #12 Aug 08th 2006, 9:12pm

Angel of Music loverOh I know... it's so sad because everyone liked him until they thought he broke into the house and then it was like they totally shunned him... it just goes to show that people fear things that are different than them... like Edward.| #13 Aug 09th 2006, 5:38pm

FallacyI think Edward might be a sort of symbolic element depicting (dare I say it?) high school stereotypes. Well, it could apply to other things, too, but mostly high school.First off is the facial scarring. Couldn't that be linked to today's parallel--acne? Next, he's so quiet and innocent, yet everyone HATES him. It's like this a lot in high school--the different ones and the ones that don't particularly fit in anywhere are naturally shunned. I don't want to go into a full in-depth analysis of his character and stuff, but I think the end was very befitting, if not mournfully heart-wrenching. (I'm HUMAN, people. I DID cry my eyes out for three consecutive hours. And yet I watched it over and over and cried every time.. :sigh: I'm such a damn masochist.) But it was happy in a way, too. Everyone eventually left him alone, and after all, isn't that what anyone would want? Edward was never meant to fit in to a Suburban society such as that, and he was fine just living up in that mansion, if not a bit curious. Still, I wish he could've been with Kim. :( Which is why I made a FIC! XD | #14 Aug 25th 2006, 3:39pm

Angel of Music loverThat's a good comparison... we all have our little "groups" in high school and if it gets invaded or something changes it gets kinda ugly... but I bet something like that happens in the working world too. I mean, even though bosses aren't supposed to be prejudice or anything a lot of people don't get jobs because they're different ethnicity or something... and I know what you mean about him being too nice. It's like the kid where you're like "Ah! I want to hate that person but... THEY'RE TOO NICE!!" I know... I'm sometimes one of those people... lol!!| #15 Aug 25th 2006, 4:46pm

Yama-sanI fell in love with Burton's work just recently, because before I hadn't realized how wonderful his work is. Tim Burton's Edward Scissorhands, is a magnificant movie and shows Burton's wierdness and vast imagination. All his movies are grand and out there, which are my favorite kinds of movies.| #16 Oct 16th 2006, 8:23am

Angel of Music loveryay for Tim Burton!! lol!!! I got interested in him when I watched "Nightmare Before Christmas" a few years ago for Christmas (what else?) and remembered why I loved that movie so much when I was younger... lol!!! :D Burton is so creative and to me I think my fav directors for creativity are him and Baz Luhrman (spelling?)... though I also love Peter Jackson and Alfred Hitchcock (yes I know he's dead... meh! lol!!)| #17 Oct 16th 2006, 6:22pm

Angel of Music loverAnything with a big label that spells TIM BURTON on it I typically love. I was actually watching this videos for The Killers (Bones) and I just totally fell in love with it!! Then I found out that it was Tim who directed and I was just kinda like "Go figure." Anyway, the end of this movie is so tragic. I still cry even though I know what's going to happen... | #32 Feb 10th 2007, 10:18am

moonshadow09Yes all of Tim Burton's movies are very good, but Edward Schissorhands is my personal favorite. It's just so original in it's own right. I mean yes, it is almost a modern day tale of Beauty and the Beast, the representation of the characters is just something amazing. And Jhonny Depp is absolutely heart breaking. That one scene where she goes:"Hold me." and Edward says "I can't" I absolutelly broke my heart. | #33 Feb 10th 2007, 4:02pm

lina-toneThis is and has been one of my favorite movies of all time. Refering back to the comment that it relates to high school, I think the story is so much broader than that. It's really related to people in general and as a society. If you can remember, the little town was so in synch and "pleasantville"-like. And then Edward comes in and he brings with him something different, something that does not fit in to the perfect little life all the people were living. And so they fear him.People do this on a daily basis. We shun the next door neighbor cause he's not religious, we shun the girl 3 doors down because she is pregnant and single... basically, we close ourselves off from things out of the box. People live in a square and they are afraid to step out of it. And that is what "Edward Scissorhands" seems to symbolize. But in the end you see that things that are different can actually be good, though misunderstood. The meaning behind the movie is so much more epic. Anyways, its a lovely movie and a real classic! Tim Burton and Johnny Depp make it a thousand times better! | #35 Sep 24th 2007, 11:00am

Aeris LeonheartGood inerpetation of the movie lina-tone. You so right about that kind of thing. Though to me it seens like when Edward came to town, being different was what made him Mr. Popular. It wasn't until that he did something wrong, that people started to turn on him and fear him. Which I guess also shows how judgemetal people can be and when you think about it those people in that town, expect for the family he stayed with, didn't really take the time to get to know Edward. | #36 Sep 24th 2007, 12:00pm

Angel of Music loverI think it goes back to people are always entralled by something that is thought to be "different" or "new" until it's "outdated" or suddenly widely rejected.| #37 Sep 24th 2007, 12:37pm
