Topic: Has This Ever Happened to You...?
In my life, all of the adults frown upon the fact that I'm a wrestling fanatic. It's like they're saying, 'Oh she's so perfect, too bad she likes something like pro wrestling'. It really hurts because she threatens to disown me if I train to be a wrestler. And then at school, sometimes I ridiculed because of it. They tell me wrestling's fake. But I always get back at them by telling them that wrestling is as fake as your imagination and that if wrestling's fake, why do wrestler die from it sometimes and why is it that most of them say that if they were to complain about one thin it was pain? Then, I whip out one of my TNA DVDs and they watch and they can't help being amazed. They learn not to mess with me and my wrestling.

Hmm... my dad and mom don't watch wrestling, but they don't frown upon the fact that I dream of one day being a wrestler. In fact, my dad was the one who introduced me into wrestling, albeit accidentaly. He was watching NBA back in 1995, and then turned the channel, which was the 1995 Royal Rumble. I watched it in its entirety and learned a few years later that "Red Pants Man" was Shawn Michaels and "American Panties Man" was Lex Luger.

I wish I was around people like that.

No, it hasn't happened to me. All my friends, or most of them anyway, love wrestling just as much as I do. My mom watches it with me too. My dad hates it, but he never says that I can't watch it. I did get into an argument with someone who said wrestling was fake and I said that if it was fake, how come Owen Hart died? He replied that Owen wasn't really dead. I told him that he was an insenstive jerk with no feelings. This was in high school. In college, most of my friends love wrestling and we often talk about it all the time.

okay, all of my email penpals and you guys don't have to live with this problem, but I do! It's like some sick joke!

Don't worry about it. At least you have friends who do like wrestling. Not to mention, us here on the forums. Don't sweat it.

Hey I'm back! Told ya I was busy with my schoolwork! Anyway, yeah saying "You're a good person" makes others feel better. That's true. Of course, that's what you were talking about, right?

Dr. JNHardy
Glad to see ya back, Spincut. Yeah, that is what we were talking about. *sniffs* you're such good people!

spincutEdge6272
makes people feel good, that's true. but now I feel uncomfortable with all the comments. Let's go back to the original topic!

So... how did you first get to know wrestling?

#18 Mar 08th 2006, 5:52pm
Dr. JNHardy
by force.
#19 Mar 10th 2006, 12:47pm
spincutEdge6272
...what?

please explain.

#20 Mar 11th 2006, 1:40am
Dr. JNHardy
okay, sorry I didn't elaborate, but Friday I was really sick, but I hate it when my gmail account gets stuffed with a bunch of forum alerts, so I disabled it and talked for as little as I could. Obviously, I'm feeling better, so I'll explain...

Back in the summer of 2004, June 28 to be exact, it was my brother's birthday. Prior to this, my parents told us that we would be er... going to a live WWE RAW show. At this time, I hated wrestling. I really did. So, I did the one thing I could.

I sulked. That's right.

My bro loves me and couldn't bare to see me sad, so he forced, um invited me to play WrestleMania... I think 18 with him. Well, it was the most fun I ever had! The first person I ever played with I think was Jacqueline because she was a girl. Then Lita, then I graduated to Jeff Hardy because I thought he was hot.

So we had fun until my bro accidently broke the game and we panicked and just returned to Blockbuster. Which I think breaks some kind of moral rule. Oops.

Anyway, we went to the show and I was thrilled. I loved it. We returned home and next week, I watched RAW and Smackdown! with my family. A year later, I'm telling them the upcoming PPVs and spoilers.

Weird huh?

So that's the origin of that. What about you guys?

Basically, my brother got me into it too. He was watching it, and I asked him if he would turn the channel because I didn't think it was that great. Well, like any brother, he didn't do it. So, I was watching it and got hooked when I saw Diamond Dallas Page wrestle. After that, I was glued to the TV and the rest is history. It sucks that I've been deprived of it for the past few weeks though. Darn basketball!
#22 Mar 14th 2006, 9:03am
Dr. JNHardy
Now now, Bubbly. I don't really like basketball either, but we can't "darn" it! It's very rude and goes against all morals! *scolds*

spincutEdge6272
*stays at a distance while explaining how he got hooked to WWE*

Just like I said before, it was 1995, my dad was watching basketball, and I was watching along with him. Then he switched the channel and left the room. I just watched what was on, and it was Royal Rumble 1995, and red-pants man won! Yay! Then I stopped watching.

I started watching again in 1998 (I got to watch the No Mercy Ladder match... That's when I started looking up to Jeff Hardy), and continued watching both RAW and SmackDown until 2000, when Star Sports stopped showing it. I watched again by accident in 2003 (first match I saw in that year was Jeff Hardy and Shawn Michaels VS Jericho/Christian.. my dream teams!), and I've been watching ever since.

BubblyShell22
Hey, that's cool, Spincut. Okay, Dr.JNHardy, I won't darn basketball. I just get mad sometimes. Plus, I was actually being nice. I mean, they're depriving me of the one stress reliever I have. Well, one of the stress relievers I have.

Dr. JNHardy
That's BETTER.

I remember that you explained it before SpinCut. The "red- pants man" was Shawn Michaels!

Yep, RAW won! That's cool although I was going for both teams. Can't wait for next week.

Dr. JNHardy
I didn't really like the match. It was... dull.
#34 Mar 20th 2006, 1:01pm
spincutEdge6272
I didn't watch the match. It'll only show on TV 2 weeks from now, since I live in the Philippines and all.

Still, I'm glad that WWE actually gave RAW the win this time. I mean, not to be such a RAW fanboy... wait, scratch that... I mean, RAW is better than SmackDown. Whee!

#35 Mar 21st 2006, 1:57am
BubblyShell22
Hey, that's cool if you think that, Spincut. I have to agree with you on some terms of that. But think about this: SmackDown has Rey Mysterio, and he kicks butt. Also, they have Chris Benoit, who is also a pretty good wrestler.
#36 Mar 21st 2006, 5:28am
Dr. JNHardy
Chris... oh man! I totally forgot about him!!!! How could I?!? Sorry!!!!
#37 Mar 21st 2006, 12:24pm
spincutEdge6272
Yep, Benoit is undoubtedly SmackDown's best wrestler (Kurt Angle and Rey tie in at 2nd). Not to be such a RAW ** (is that a bad word in these forums?), but I'd like to point out that Benoit had mostly mediocre success in SmackDown, yet had a WHC reign in RAW.

But I'm just happy RAW's not overlooked this time around. I'm just really annoyed that a brand that has thrived on for a long time has to endure the embarrassment of being considered 2nd-rate when compared to its "younger sibling", SmackDown. It's seen that way for most viewers because SmackDown represents the "face" side while RAW thrives on heels.

:)

You have a point there, Spincut. I just wish they would join together again like they used to. I hate all these splits and things.
#39 Mar 22nd 2006, 5:56am
Dr. JNHardy
I don't know if I want it split or joined together again. If it joins, the higher stars (Triple H, John Cena, Kurt Angle, Randy Orton, etc.) would thrive and we'd have to suffer twice as much while the overrated ones (Chris Benoit, Paul Burchill, etc.) would drown in the sea of stars. Personally, spincut, I do not give a damn if you use that would. If it helps express you, sure. Besides PG-13 movies say it all the time.
#40 Mar 24th 2006, 12:17pm
spincutEdge6272
yep. but at least there might be more air time for the underrated ones. Plus, 8 belts and around 82 superstars going after it seems cool. Still, the brand split is somewhat good, and I'd like to see WWE take advantage of it.
#41 Mar 26th 2006, 4:31pm
BubblyShell22
You guys have a point there. I saw Burchill's entrance on Friday. It's pretty cool. I wish he would have won that Battle Royal. That would have been cool.
#42 Mar 27th 2006, 6:00am
Dr. JNHardy
yes... my bro and I were slightly disappointed that he didn't win.

Yeah... I kinda don't like Lashley. It might be how he makes me feel like a little girl every time he comes out.
#44 Mar 27th 2006, 12:48pm
BubblyShell22
I think Lashley's been pushed too much. I think Burchill or some of the others should have won that match.
#45 Mar 28th 2006, 5:50am
Dr. JNHardy
I look at him now and I can't believe I liked him. Any wrestler that needs to be pushed THAT much...
#46 Mar 28th 2006, 12:24pm
BubblyShell22
I know what you mean. I think some of the others like Kendrick, London, and Burchill need to be pushed more.
#47 Mar 28th 2006, 2:11pm
spincutEdge6272
YAY!

*shakes everyone's hand*

Finally! People who think Lashley is overpushed! Thank the Lord!

#48 Mar 28th 2006, 5:13pm
BubblyShell22
I'm glad you like that, Spincut. I do feel that way. I mean, he's a cool guy, but give some of the others a chance.
#49 Mar 29th 2006, 5:41am
Dr. JNHardy
It's a shame. Like bubblyshell said, he's cool, but he is being pushed WAY too much. I wouldn't mind seeing someof the other SmackDown! people. Another thing I wish is that the WWE would quit burying the cruiserweights even further by forcing them to lose all the time.
