Personally, I think he has a rewind button under his hat. In "Fa-La-La-La-Ed", the following happens:

Edd: For decades, we parade the cake every Christmas!

Ed then presses down on Edd's head, making Edd repeat his previous sentence.

Edd: For decades, we parade the cake every Christmas!

Ed presses down on Edd's head once more, and Edd repeats the last two words.

Edd: Every Christmas!

I think that's enough to support the Rewind Button Theory.

There are so many things that it could be. Rewind button is not a bad theory. Maybe he is a robot of sorts or at least a cyborg. Regardless, we know one thing, there is more than three hairs there.

That rewind button theory is a very good idea, I could never have thought of that. It is quite simple, but so far away. However, that probably was just Ed using his odd abilities, like when he made Eddy fly, and flew himself.

Ok, so to catch up:

AC: Oooh, how bout when he reacted to Eddy's shadow hand pinching his head (the swimming hole episode), when he copied himself to carry the long piece of what became his elevator to the moon (the "Up" ep) and my personal favorite, when he's getting ready to sumo wrestle Jimmy, he signals that he is ready by smacking his face into the pavement, leaving an imprint no less (pretty obvious). Just felt like mentioning a few more of Ed's impossible feats.

hl: Not stupid, but hard to understand. Too many type-o's.

ff: oooh, but...why necessarily pink (not that I complain).

FanO: ummm...yeah, I guess that is pretty "inside"

I made up my own theory. Edd is actually half feline angel of death. Thats why he keeps his hat on, even though all his hair grew back from the dodge ball incident. Edd couldn't sleep the night before his 13th birthday, and at midnight, he felt a searing pain. He checked under his hat and saw two little curved blades coming out from his head and vowed to never show anyone to prevent becoming a science experiment for scientists.

...wow Kage...That's out there. A bit stereotypical of fanfiction writers too. You may want to tone it down a bit. But besides that, it's a pretty interesting idea, I must say.

Well, my newest idea is probably the simplest. Premature baldness.

I've seen guys in my highschool graduating class who were pretty far gone. I'm guessing it's like that, but still with that stuff on the sides, so he feels the need to wear the hat. If it was all gone, it wouldn't be too bad, but this was kinda weird.

Eh, I dunno.

many people think that his hair is black because that is the color of the lines, but like eds hair, which is black lines, it was red when combed out. Why they bother to color kevins hairs is beyond me.

When you see the head maniquins, you get an idea of his head shape. The three hairs complicates things though. Ed adn eddyes reaction clues that its something unusual or infact, cool. Kevin has similar hair, but his hairs poke out the front, but the head shape design doesn't work with the 'only three hairs' idea. Both eddy and kevin, who also have three hairs, also have flat heads.

WHen Eddwards lifts his hat, no hair falls out. Not that aka would be that detailed though, but we still gotta assume that he has very little if not no hair at all. What I guessed was somthing like a mullet. If you think about it, it make ssense. Perhaps his hair is oiled down? Maybe it is some kinf of unusual color.Ralph does have blue hair after all. Orange maybe?Green, highly doubted. Blue, perhaps.Red maybe; Blonde maybe; Brunette maybe. Black, most likely. WHo really knows.
