bimbosarahsurfchickTopic: Writing fanfictions
Hi everyone, when you are writing fanfictions does anybody tend to plot.... i am wondering whether to start doing in-depth plotting on each chapter before i write it, so i know whats going to happen and how its going to work. What do you lot think? how should i go about plotting???? |

Na'JanayWhen plotting you have treat it as if it were a stew. Too much meat can make it too gaudy. While not enough meat can make your readers cringe. I guess what I'm saying is that when you stick to plotting ahead of time you tend to be less open. When a new idea arises you may shoot it down because it's not what you had in mind in the first place. Let me use some examples. When I started my first fic I had it planned begining to end and no one could tell me different. I would write my ideas in a binder then all a sudden it was too deep. Therefore I had to delete a whole chapter, because it had no where to go. Sometimes I find when I'm in my zone I have to pickup the computer and forget how I planned it. It's my story and I won't be bound to anyones restictions let alone my own restictions. Well ahh maybe thats just me. I hoped it helped a little it sure helped me. |

Stonecrusher7Interesting question. Well, having a well-developed plot is the key to a great story. But it can work out differently from writer to writer. Personally, I get struck by a sudden idea. It might only be one little line that someone might say and the whole story flows out of that, or a setting. Then, after doing away with procrastination, I start typing away having no idea where the story is going but the anticipation is great and does wonders for me. The plot just sort of develops freely as I go. Of course, later on I might come back to what I wrote and make some changes and construct something more solid. Point is, people kinda do things differently from others. Every method has its pros and cons, it's just a matter of knowing how to deal with them. It's a good idea to have an organized procedure and knowing clearly well where you're going...for others creativity is found just winging it and seeing what happens as they write along. |
