Wandering ThoughtTopic: A little disturbing? Hey,I'm currently planning to write a fanfic based on the Little Mermaid, since I love its themes so much, and decided that, instead of writing dark fics featuring OCs and the concept of joining forces to defeat evils...I figured I should retell the movie in the perspective of the evil. Now, here's the problem. I like to write romances. But I want to write something different thatn what everybody else is doing. In addition, I find that by writing in Ursula's POV, I'd feel like I'm already pushing at an open door. Someone else has already done it. So, it was suddenly did I imagine: What would the situation be if the character Ursula was younger, hunkier, and--well, male? It's something I hadn't seen in this section, but then again, would it seem too disturbing an idea? |

shadows-light91*shrinks off stage left* Sorry... I guess that's me. lol. Coming from someone who spent a LONG time trying to figure out what to do, I understand your pain. I had a hard time deciding what she should be like and everything. I watched the TLM DVD forever trying to come up with ideas. I think that you shouldn't let me or anyone else writing a similar story stop you. (I should probably learn to take my own advice, but that's a different story entirely.) I mean, as long as you have a different perspective of what it might have been like, it would be interesting to read. Personally, I don't know about her being a male when she was younger, but it wouldn't be the weirdest story I've read. But yeah, I mean, as long as it's not virtually similar to anyone else's story, I would go for it. By the way, there is a category to put the Little Mermaid stories under. So they finally can have a category of their own. Help spread the word! |
