'Very accurate,' I corrected her.

Orien-

"Oh, fine," I grumbled. "But hey - a week off of class means a week of sleeping in!"

~Yvanna~

'Unless they don't do sleeping in in the Old Kingdom,' I pointed out.

Orien-

I put on a horrified expression.

~Yvanna~

'You never know,' I said, looking decidedly amused. 'Those servants might make you wake up early every single day.'

Orien-

"But we'd be guests," I sputtered. 'We should be able to sleep as long as we want!"

~Yvanna~

'But what if they've never heard of a lie-in?' I asked, enjoying Orien's reaction.

Orien-

"That's impossible!" I said. "What culture has never had people sleep late before?"

~Yvanna~

'I don't know,' I said, shrugging. 'But it could happen.'

Orien-

"No it can't!" I looked around at the other teachers. "It can't, can it?"

Mrs Dwyer shrugged. "We don't know much about the Old Kingdom, Orien."

~Yvanna~

I laughed. 'You know, I find it amusing that you're more afraid of the possibility of them not knowing what a lie-in is, than you are of running into one of those monsters.'

Orien-

"Well - that would be bad too," I admitted, thinking about it.

~Yvanna~

'But not as bad as not being allowed a lie-in?' I asked innocently.

Orien-

I thought for a moment. "That would depend on the monster," I said finally.

~Yvanna~

There was a chorus of laughter from the other teachers.

'I think you need to get your priorities right, Orien,' said Andrea.

Orien-

"Maybe some monsters aren't so bad," I said, but I wasn't convincing anyone. I made a face, and got up. "I'm going to go read."

~Yvanna~

'Ooh - that sounds like a good idea,' I said, also getting up. 'I'll probably end up finishing that book before we go to visit Idriel,' I added as Orien and I headed out of the cafeteria.

Orien-

"Then maybe you can read some other ones while we're there," I said.

~Yvanna~

'I hope so,' I said. 'Maybe Idriel has some good romance stories there.'

Orien-

I wrinkled my nose. "Romance stories?"

~Yvanna~

'I like romance!' I said. 'And it would be interesting to see if Old Kingdom ones are anything like the ones we have.'

Orien-

"Okay," I said, shrugging. "You can have the romance. I'll have the Charter Magic theory."

~Yvanna~

'Suits me,' I said. 'I wouldn't understand it anyway.'

Orien-

"And I don't understand romance novels," I said wryly.

~Yvanna~

'Why not?' I asked. 'Surely now that you're with Emerson, you've got a bit more romantic?'

Orien-

I rolled my eyes. "Oh, please. Emerson and I are both practical people."

~Yvanna~

'But you have romantic times together,' I pointed out.

Orien-

"Well... we.... shut up," I mumbled, blushing.

~Yvanna~

'It's sweet!' I said. 'Jack and I have romantic times too, remember.'

Orien-

"I guess," I admitted. I wouldn't have thought it just by looking at him, but Emerson really could be... intense.
