![]() Okay, this should have been up a long tim ago. So, now we can talk about episodes and how much we love them and so forth. So, just be sure to mention which episode your talking about and then go crazy! So... I watched the Pilot like five times after I bought it on iTunes. My other favorites are Malama Ka Aina and Po'ipu. But you know, I love them all! I loved the last one where they were pushing the car up the road. That was hysterical. So, yeah. I'm not really saying much, but hopefully this will get some thoughts flowing. 2/15/2011 #1 |
![]() Ok! Here we go, I just watched the latest episode (16) with the college kids. As a very fanatic Steve/Kono lover I was absolutely overjoyed at the last scene in which Steve looked at Kono in a not so profesional way. Besides that, in the earlier epsiode (15) he was seriously impressed with her asskicking skills. (me too btw) So plenty of material there for me to keep writing. Pushing the car up the road! You are totally right, complety classic! I totally love the fact that every episode Steve and Danny have some sort of argument in the car or something which is just hillarious to watch. And the grenade thing! OMG! Who thinks of these things? They need Emmy's, Oscars and the lot, shower them with praise etc etc. I live in a country where Hawaii Five 0 is not all that popular (yet!) so I need my peeps here at ff.net to keep me sane and vent my love for this show. So keep posting!! :D 2/15/2011 #2 |
![]() I absolutely loved the part with the car! And Danny offering to pay for Steve to get help. I just rewatched the episode because I missed some of it and I realized that when Nick Lachey was about to open the bag that was supposedly filled with money, he said, "I told you this would work." I didn't get it last night, but now I realized he was talking to Susan. I fricking LOVED the last scene and someone really needs to write something about it (hint, hint, SpnH50Sg)... 2/15/2011 #3 |
![]() Thank so much for starting this tread! I'm so new to this forum, I didn't know where to start. I really enjoyed this week episode, even if I figured out Suzan's boyfriend was on it the moment he show up on screen. I was iffy about her, but I had my doubts. She identified the gun too fast. The boys pushing the car: that was hilarious. Kamekona training for Sumo: loved it. The grenade: true Steve! Danny offering Steve to pay for him to get help was my favourite line. "Why??" Danny asked. Poor kiddo, there's more to come. 2/15/2011 #4 |
![]() Loved last night's episode. I read in a blog that the man who plays Kamekona was a Sumo wrestler. Steve's anguish when the found that boy on the beach was perfect. I can't understand the people who think that Alex is not a good actor. His eyes and his voice are used to convey his emotions so well. Love Chin talking with the bartender "At least you didn't say I was her father." He, he. So, am I the only one who recognized Eddie Albert Jr.? He played the parent who paid the ransom and lost his son. 2/15/2011 #5 |
![]() Ok, I thought the man who payed the ransom looked REALLY familiar, but I still can't figure out where he's from. Help me out? And did anyone else that Alex O'Loughlin sounded more Australian last night? It was mainly during the first time he addressed the parent, but there were some other times, too. So we had JoJo last week, Nick Lachey this week, and Dane Cook next week. I love this show! 2/15/2011 #6 |
![]() I guess your post answered my question. The father who payed the randsome was Eddie Albert Jr. Eddie Jr. played in a lot of seventies made for TV stuff. I can't remember if he was in a regular series or not. Eddie's father was the husband/male lead in Green Acres. Also starred in many movies in his long career. Hope that helped. 2/15/2011 #7 |
![]() Haha, like I said, plenty of inspiration there! I have holidays next week, so I'll hope to get most of my ongoing stories done. Maybe I'll have some time left for some others :D:D 2/15/2011 #8 |
![]() I loved the 'why' Danny siad as he was waiting for the grenade to explode! I think danny will find religion sometime soon to help him get through his partnership with Steve, it's definitely not healthy for him! 2/15/2011 #9 |
![]() Thanks for the answer on randsom man. Can't wait till next week then! I loved the religion comment. I can so see that happening 2/16/2011 #10 |
![]() Okay, I admit that I loved the pushing the car up the mountain and the banter. However, I have to put my two cents in about the plausibility. Maybe because I lived in Hawaii as a teen, but Danny kept yelling "Nine miles." Well, since Steve lives on the beach they should've been pushing the vehicle down the mountain and not up. There was no way he could get to a mountain or the other side of the island in nine miles to be in a position to have to push the vehicle up hill (Okay, I'm done with my rant.) Now I'm gonna go back and look at the last scene where Steve is not looking at Kono so professionally to see if I agree. And I'll have to go back and look at Eddie Albert Jr. I was really bothered by Alex O'Loughlin's "acting" at first. It seemed....what's the word?....Stiff. But then I went out to YouTube and watched a bunch of interviews and realize that he is purposely playing Steve McGarrett as emotionally closed off and now I can see him "thawing" each week. I agree he has very expressive eyes. Is anyone else bothered by the relationship with Catherine? It feels like they wrote her in to take care of a couple "problems" but opposed to being a legitimate romance. It feels like Steve is a committed kinda guy so he needs one girlfriend. So the writers gave him one girlfriend for convenience. And by the way she can get him satellite images when necessary. I can see them both liking each other and having a mutual "we aren't as serious about one another as about our careers" relationship. As a woman I can't really understand that, but I have a teenage/adult son who is all about this type of relationship and it works for him. (Can't say I'm complaining since I want him to be more serious about his career right now.) 2/18/2011 #11 |

![]() Tonight's episode was eh. Like it was okay, but kinda empty. Other procedurals can fit both big family drama in and the case and this episode pushed the case way to the side. I'm so pissed that Dane Cook ended up being evil. That does not fit in with the comedian image, it's so out of place. And his acting was kind of bad. Danny was all emotional during the airplane scene and he was totally straight faced. I loved the part with the handcuffs though. I liked the whole scene where they were all hanging out. And the ending with Danny and Rachel was great. 2/21/2011 #13 |
![]() I agree that they totally minimized the case in this one and Matt was kind of dumb, but I loved Danny in this one. I thought his acting was amazing. I mean, his acting is always great, but this time we really got to see how sensitive Danny is. It really got me into the moment when he confronted Matt. I think the episode alltogether was sort of odd, but Danny was amazing and that made it all worth it. I kind of wanted him to talk to Steve at the end instead of Rachel. I mean, it makes sense that he would tell her, because she was friendly with Matt, but I think we need a scene where he talks to Steve about it too. Maybe I should write one? I'm really thinking I will. 2/22/2011 #14 |
![]() I'm thinking you should, too. I liked how they left it open-ended. Maybe they'll bring Matt back eventually. 2/22/2011 #15 |
![]() I agree this was a weird episode. There were so many places where I expected one thing to happen but it didn't. For example, I can't believe Danny and Steve sat down and lost track of time when they were in the middle of investigating a bombing and a judge's life was in danger. Even if Steve just called Kono and said "Go ahead and interview the judge without me," I would've been more satisfied. Come on, Danny didn't drive through the gates onto the airport? Come on, Danny didn't try to scale the gate to get to his brother? Come on, Danny didn't shoot his brother in the arm or leg or some place minor to stop him? Come one, Steve just stood in the hotel room while the FBI went to the marina and Danny went to the airport? Anyone else concerned that this is the second episode in a row where Danny and Steve have gone their separate ways? 2/22/2011 #16 |
![]() At first I thought Danny and Steve were going to separate like they did two episodes ago, but when Steve went with Danny to follow Matt, I was happy. I wanted Steve to be there at the end too, but I kind of understand why he wasn't. It was something Danny had to deal with and Steve had already lied to the FBI, so he probably didn't want to get into more trouble. Yes. I am deffinitely going to write a oneshot where Danny and Steve discuss what happened. It just needs to be done. Any ideas? 2/22/2011 #17 |
![]() Remember in the car after Steve told the young bride her husband was dead, Danny told about his first notification and Steve shared about his mother? Immediately after Steve asked if Danny wanted to listen to music and he agreed. That's how I see a conversation going with them that night. Steve shows up with a six-pack and maybe suggests a football or baseball game (depending upon the season) or a shoot 'em up action flick (maybe he even brought it with him. But that's just me. 2/22/2011 #18 |
![]() Hi Shakespeare's Limonade, I like the idea of you writing a scene. It will bring more closure to a good ep. Last night was a winner for me. Yes, there were a few issues with the plots, but there always are (knowing from the moment the OC walks on screen that s/he's the criminal and having Steve drive after being knocked on the head are my major pet peeves). This week, I enjoyed the relationships between the characters. I usually don't care much about the case in the first place (knowing who the criminal is from the get go, most of the time, is not helping.) I said it before, I love Scott Caan's acting and seeing Danny struggle through his emotions was a pleasure. I enjoyed the scenes where Danny and Rachel were relaxing beside each other. I just LOVED the last scene. I'm not rooting for the couple to come back together, but Rachel does bring up Dany's vulnerable side and it hit a soft spot. Hearing Danny say "I love you" to his brother and wanting to be there for him, just as Matt had been there for him reinforced what I knew about Danny's dedication for the people he cares about. Among these people, there is Steve and the rest of the team, which leads to interesting and even more promising interactions between them. Steve now being the one to bring Danny off the ledge as Danny can do it for Steve – or at least try – is the mark of a great partnership. I like such tidbits such as Steve recognizing The Tone and knowing the true meaning of "it's nothing") as Danny can call him up on The Face and tell him that he needs help. So, I guess that I did like it a lot last night. (hope this all made sense – thanks) 2/22/2011 #19 |
![]() Ok I just needed to correct an earlier post about the father that paid the randsom. It was actually the actor Ray Wise that played Morris Brown. 2/22/2011 #20 |
![]() Is that who it was. I was the one who first thought it was Eddie Jr. Then I did some checking to find out that Eddie Jr. died in 2006. I watched the end of H5-0 to see if the man was listed but he wasn't. So thank you for finding the right information. I really didn't remember hearing about Eddie Jr. dieing. Getting old is for the birds! :) 2/22/2011 #21 |
![]() I had mixed feelings about last nights episode. I liked how Steve came to help Danny and backed him all the way including lying to the Feds. The mad bomber was interesting, the reason for his crimes anyway. I don't think that either Danny or Steve would loose track of time to spend ALL afternoon with Rachel, Grace and Matt, but maybe Steve called in or something. Also at the end I really think that Danny should have gone to Steve not Rachel. That is my opinion. 2/22/2011 #22 |
![]() Okay, I posted the story I came up with for the end of Loa Aloha. It's called Kaikua'ana. There are a couple of other stories like it out there, now, but they're all a little different. I'd love to know what all of you think. 2/23/2011 #23 |
![]() I am beyond upset at tonight's episode. I mean really, what the hell? That was kinda disappointing after waiting for a month. Were Steve and Kono even in the same general location for more than 15 seconds in this episode? Kaye was just annoying in the beginning, but her plot with McGarrett started to seem like it's inevitable that they get together. It felt like a beginning of a relationship like on other crime shows. I didn't hate her character as much as I thought I would. I actually kinda of liked her which upsets me. I don't want her to become a permanent or recurring character on the show. The original show was fine with 4 main cast members, this one doesn't need a fifth. The case was kind of strange with the superheroes, but as far as cases go, I liked it. I didn't feel like a 5-0 case, though. They usually do more major stuff. This seems like it could of been a case off of Bones. The ending was slightly what the hell. It was like, "okay, now what? That made no sense." I wanna know what McGarrett's gonna find out about his family. That seems like it's gonna be really good. Has anyone else noticed that it looks like McGarrett's hair is kinda of dyed. It used to be slightly graying on the sides, but now, it's very black. I think the gray fit better. It made him look kinda of older and like he was more experienced. 3/21/2011 #24 |
![]() I agree that this episode was disappointing. I didn't like how little Steve was with Chin and Kono. The case seemed like something out of CSI or Bones as you mentioned. Not really 5-0 worthy. I liked Kaye all right, but I agree that the show doesn't need her. I'd be okay with her being around for maybe a few episodes, or like Max, coming in and out. I don't think there will be a romance with her and Steve. I mean, I would mind reading fanfiction with that pairing, maybe, but I just don't see it happening on the show. I loved the part where Steve kicked in Kaye's door and she was like, "you could have knocked," and he said, "I did. Twice." You don't make Steve McGarrett knock twice! Also, I am dying to know what's going on with Steve's family! I hope we maybe get to see some flashbacks or something. That would be really cool. I did not notice Steve's hair, but I like the gray. It looks more real, and I always like it when people on TV look like actual people. 3/22/2011 #25 |
![]() I will admit, the last episode was lacking in some areas, but I have been waiting to see Chin dive in and give us a look at his personality and his ways as a cop and I wasn't disappointed with what I saw in this episode. I was so excited to see him dive in there, solve the case, interrogate and get the job done. We know he's a cop, we know something happened and we know he's getting his legs back, because he's gotten a second chance, but I think this was the first time you really got to see Chin the detective to appreciate him. We know he's a good man, they have been building that up and Daniel Dae Kim is just spectacular with his emotional portrayal, but we hadn't seen Chin Ho Kelly the detective trained by Steve's father. I think, we'll learn so much more about McGarrett's past by watching Kelly's future. (I really like Chin and want to see him come out more. Its about the Team and we need to know who they are.) And Wo Fat just made me really happy because for every fabulous hero you need an his opposite, and I feel like we have only just seen what is to come. I want so badly for there to be more mystery and development and just villainous goodness going down with him. He doesn't even have to say much and I'm all a twitter for him. So, as a developmental episode in the beginning season of what had already proved to be a spectacular interpretation of something that was so loved before, I would say we needed an episode like this. Granted there weren't any really special Danny or Steve antics but good things come to those who wait, and I was pleasantly surprised with the on scene time for Daniel Dae Kim. 4/08/2011 #26 |
![]() So, what did everyone think of the latest episode? some of it I really loved, and some of it, I wasn't so crazy about. I loved Danny and Steve hiking and all that. I loved how Danny was saying baseball was better than hiking. (It isn't, BTW). And then when Steve fell, ooh, that was pretty cool. I mean, he probably would have been in much worse shape if it were real, but I've seen pictures from the next episode and he still has the cast, so at least there's that. I also loved how he made Danny touch the fish. That was pretty hilarious. I wasn't crazy about the stuff with Chin. I'll have to watch it again, but I felt like it was sort of a letdown after how much this issue was hyped up. I mean, I know he doesn't want his uncle to get arrested, but... I don't know. I'm going to watch it again. So, what do you guys think? 4/12/2011 #27 |
![]() I agree, I was disappointed in the Chin storyline. I think I've seen much better ideas on various message boards about Chin's involvement and who he was protecting. And I thought we were going to find out about his fiancee. 4/12/2011 #28 |
![]() Yeah, I don't see Chin giving up his career, his fiancee, and his family's love for one uncle who wasn't very nice to him afterward. But then, why would Chin be the one wanting to keep the secret, not the uncle? I think there's a little more to it. Like why IA suspected Chin to start with. Maybe we'll find out. 4/12/2011 #29 |
![]() Hello, I'm new around here. I used to watch the old Hawaii Five-0 when I was a kid, but don't remember it that well. I LOVE the new show, however. The Chin story line doesn't surprise me. Chin is all about Ohana. He kept the secret for the sake of his auntie whom he loved like a mother. I don't like the fact that he went into IA in this last episode and said he took the money, and I really don't like that he has gone to a loan shark to "borrow" the money to back his story. I understand his reasoning. A lot of very bad people will walk right out of jail if Chin's uncle is implicated and arrested. Keeping the status quo was Chin's best option. His uncle made that impossible by going to IA and now Chin is just trying to protect the family and keep the entire situation from blowing up. I guess we'll have to wait to see how it all pans out in the end. Chin is obviously not in jail since he was in the previews to the big finale. I am very much looking forward to that episode and to see what the writers have done with the story line. I looked up Serin Gas exposure and found that it is treatable if dealt with quickly, but the somatic effects can be devastating. I found excellent information on the CDC's website. It is worth checking out for anyone interested in writing a fic based on that. My favorite episode would have to be the one with the witness being hunted in the jungle while Danny is off saving his family. That episode highlighted each of the characters individually and I think that with a couple of notable exceptions it was very well done. The exceptions would be 1. Steve using a hollow stick as a chest tube. Ummm. that might work except he had his make shift chest tube in the guy's liver. 2. And the really big guffaw was when the bad guy was shooting at Chin and the witness from across that deep ravine that the witness nearly fell into. Chin and the girl got up and ran into the jungle and moments later the bad guy was hot on their heels. So what did he do - sprout wings? How in blazes did he get across the ravine? Well I'll have to come back and see if anyone has thoughts next week after the big H/C episode which will obviously be a two parter. I'm sure we'll get left with a cliff hanger. 5/05/2011 #30 |
