The Mechanics of In Flight
One of my reviewers mentioned the idea of starting a forum for those who want to debate various points of my story without clogging up the review section too much. I decided to go ahead and give it a try.

![]() I remember that someone had tried to give it this really long ** name that when abbreviated was a jumble of letters that just seemed to annoy people. 3/13/2012 #31 |
![]() Wait... I admit my knowledge of Nasu's work is a bit slim... But isn't Saber alone cabale of swinging her sword so hard it creates a wave of air pressure that can destroy a house? Not a whole lot of marvel characters who can do that. 3/13/2012 #32 |
![]() Oh...that's gonna get some negative feedback from the more hardcore marvel fans on this thread. I'm pretty sure there are those that can do much worse than destroying a house. 3/13/2012 #33 |
![]() But there are characters who can destroy a whole city, and can, and will, beat up physical gods every other week. So really, destructive air pressure, while impressive, isn't exactly high tier powerful in the grand scheme of things. 3/13/2012 #34 |
![]() And quick question... If you have such a problem with the Marvel universe power tier... Just cross the EC with a Marvel Book that doesn't have cosmic level characters in it. (Ie... Daredevil, Spider-Man, Punisher, hell even X-Men doesn't have that many overpowered characters on the roster. And even then the REALLY powerfull characters tend to either not stay on, or lose their power.) 3/13/2012 #35 |
![]() @OSW Hmm, nice idea...I can totally see Tony Stark's company working with EC!MBI... 3/13/2012 #36 |
![]() If I could have anything, I would like an Iron Man crossover. 3/13/2012 #37 |
![]() That wound be pretty cool. Stark industries and M.B.I. Pretty sweet. Not to say they'd be working together though. Just keep Keiko away from her. 3/13/2012 #38 |
![]() Not to say they'd be working together though. Just keep Keiko away from her. Keep Keiko away from who? 3/13/2012 #39 |
![]() Dammit, I meant to say: keep Keiko away from 'him'(Tony) Sorry, typo. 3/13/2012 . Edited 3/13/2012 #40 |
![]() I thought so, just had to make sure. Forgive my ignorance, but why keep Keiko away from Tony? I thought she was banned from mechs. This now extends to power armor? 3/13/2012 . Edited 3/13/2012 #41 |
![]() Not refering to the suit. And shes banned from mechs, as well as certain high class weaponary. Stark industries created many military weapons. Keiko would either try and convince Tony to use them, or she'd be foolish enough to try and steal them(though the latter would depend on her age at the time) 3/13/2012 #42 |
![]() @CR A power armor that is capable of flying at supersonic speed, capable of superior hand to hand combat in every freaking sense of the term, AND is capable of firing Death Rays? Of course Keiko will be banned from using Tony's armor...until she calls Tony "nii-chan" and makes the puppy dog eyes, though.... 3/13/2012 #43 |
![]() You don't need to explain Tony's credentials to me, or the capabilities of his armor. I already know. And I think he's immune to puppy-dog eyes. And would probably raise an eyebrow at "nii-chan". 3/13/2012 #44 |
![]() I think Tony would be more curious as to how the hell this kid got into his house in the first place. 3/13/2012 #45 |
![]() @CR My dear friend, the "Puppy Dog Eyes+nii-chan" combo is explicitly used to soften the hearts of ALL males and give said targets an overprotective streak towards the user whenever he/she uses it. In fact, since it's Nasuverse where magic is based on believe or something like that AND the kawai worshiping is started in Japan, even if Tony Stark is a bad@$$, he will fall for the trick too~ Heh, I will give my 2 cents worth that he will probably have a Sweet Polly Oliver reaction... @deus Stalker, perhaps? 3/13/2012 . Edited 3/13/2012 #46 |
![]() I thought he had a security system for that. I think he'd be impressed if she had somehow managed to slip through that. And I don't know, Tony doesn't seem like the type to have that 'overprotective streak' in him. If so, wouldn't that just insure that he doesn't let her use any creations of his? 3/13/2012 . Edited 3/13/2012 #47 |
![]() If I know anything about Stark, he'd have the most advanced security system on Earth, and several alien empires. And yet his tech still gets stolen all the time. Thankfully, there is always the program that deactivates the armor. So if Keiko tried to get out while wearing one, Tony would just have to activate it and bam! She drops like a rock from the sky. 3/13/2012 #48 |
![]() the EC smugness doesn't really come from teh Characters, as most of thet "we are better than you" is deserved, specially against the version of HP Wizards in there that are plainly incompetent as individuals and as a whole because the wizard society is eboth decadent, outdated and useless, even in canon Didn't the Ministry actually distribute pamphlets on how to create shields? Doesn't that imply that most wizards and witches have problems casting shields to begin with? Much less doing so while under pressure to make the motions and spit out the words fast enough to beat a draw and aim? They hunted muggles for sport. **ing.Sport.Even now, the magical laws barely protect them. A wizard could use magic to rape a muggle's wife and daughter, steal all their **, ruin their lives, and walk away with their life savings, andassuming he was ever even caught, the laws barely protect muggles, so he would, at most, get a slap on the wrist, or maybe a few years in Azkaban, if that. And the muggles would never know what happened to them, because, at best, they would send out 'real' Oblivators to modify their memories instead of just letting the criminals hack-job stand. the whole feel of Arrogance IMHO comes from just how teh authors project the scenes, timeline or the story of the cast, not to mention the ludicurous crosovers and sorry if i offend anyone, but Jack Rakan and the half vampire adventures where he goes on and on to become incredibly powerful and has a fight with Adell, the galacic empire wo got aded as in-laws, etc. and can anyone tell me when and whi Reiko became a slave ( i left the EC when the TV episodic thing was starting) OSW: you know that Spidey beat Magneto and can lift tonnes by himsel while also having precognition and then in some arcs he got OP until the next retcon right? and that Frank Castle is Emiya Kiritsugu up to the eleventh and that the X-Men have the Juggernaut, MOFO Charles Xavier, the Phoenix force and Jean Gray, The trio of clones from Emma frost and Emma frost herself, the Shi'ar, the telepathically inmune aliens, Onslaught, Ehn'sabbanh'ur AKA Apocalipse, Quicksilver (the guy who can pull a flash and run trough time), the alien superman expy, elixir, teh robot who can travel trought time too, Cable, Magneto AKA Mr. electromanetism is my **, and you know what? i can kill you from here because there is also electromagnetic currents and waves in YOUR body that are needed to live, Polaris (IDK if it was the Marvel or the DCU version the one who reversed the bloodflow one time), Mimic, etc. and the Superman Expy The Sentry. for Marvel to work with EC or viceversa, depending on how the story is made then it would be centred on the normal (as much as they can be called that) lives of the characters and or their challenes journey to their home dimension. OTOH what would work better would be a cross from-to Hellraiser or the books of magic. and Tony Stark is a freaking Genius so beyond anything MBI has or will ever have (well he, Richards and Banner almost singlehandedly built all the OMG tech in Marvel that is native to earth, not to mention the whole S.H.I.E.L.D. tech and systems) and is also a perv, playboy, unrepentant flirt and alcoholic. 3/13/2012 #49 |
![]() Tony Stark is a Badass Normal Genius Prodigy, then, is it? Well, it seems Tony will try to flirt with Reiko or Root forbid, Aoko! Just kidding... 3/13/2012 #50 |
![]() ST raises good points. I mean X-Men? They're probably the worst offenders in Marvel when it comes to comic book OPness. 3/13/2012 . Edited 3/13/2012 #51 |
![]() that actually depends on what version of tony stark is used and the circumstance, i.e. Dimensionally displaced Tony would either be more focused on returning home or retake his mantle of Ironman in this 'new' earth than flirt (at least at the begining), or you could have Old Man!Tony from the apocalyptic futures where humanity is crapped upon, or heck even teh House of M!Tony who AFAIK was a gladiator. and the worst point of the Marvelverse is that massive and major atacks from, to, against 'x' and the use of enhanced beings or weapons are a daily ocurrence and after Civil war anything remotely even suspicious is hammered down, unless you are a title character from a cow cash mainstream comic. 3/13/2012 . Edited 3/13/2012 #52 |
![]() Seriously though, so far I know that there's at least 15 Superheroes that could cause the entire destruction of the Earth had they wanted to; when you factor in other lesser known superheroes, tentative allies, and villians who has the potential to f*ck up the Earth, and even entities that could destroy Galaxies... How'd the planet survive that? 3/13/2012 #53 |
![]() [from Cirex Review Speaking as a writer of the Emiya Clan, I woulnd't mind a crossover with Marvel, if only to feed the Clanners some humble pie. You know, drop them down a few levels, show them whatrealpower is. I see a lot of arrogance in the Clan, I admit that I am guilty of this as well, and it would be great if we had a few "break the haughty" moments.] Someone *finally* brings it up. Even the loops had some break the haughty moments. The loopers getting their asses kicked by Squirrel Girl for example. That woman defeats anyone. It doesn't matter who. Someone here had one of the sekirei (Homura, I think) write about how Shirou was that one exception where a human could go toe to toe with a sekirei. I don't know if it was based on ashikai worship or just there not being many human challengers at all. 3/13/2012 . Edited 3/13/2012 #54 |
![]() who's 'Squirrel Girl'? 3/13/2012 #55 |
![]() http://marvel.wikia.com/Doreen_Green_%28Earth-616%29 3/13/2012 #56 |
![]() I'm sorry... who are the loopers? 3/13/2012 #57 |
![]() *Growls angrilly* First of all... Telepathy in and of itself is NOT overpowered. So do not insult my intelligence by labeling it as such. Second of all... You are greatly underestimating the abilities of the Nasuverse. Magneto may have mastery of magnetism. Juggernaut might be unstoppable, but both of them are still one trick ponies. Compared to countless characters in Nasu's works who have multiple superhuman abilities/powers/weapons etc Besides if you really want to talk about an overpowered ability... The Mystic Eyes of Death Perception sound like a bigger game breaker than the Power Cosmic... I mean as long as you can get close enough to cut it... You can kill ANYTHING. "Magneto's throwing up a forcefield? Oh don't worry, I'll just kill the shield, and kill his access to his powers while I'm at it." "Oh is that Juggernaut coming... *Cuts him dead* Problem solved." Oh is that Galactus... Don't worry, I can cut him dead easy as pie." 3/13/2012 #58 |
![]() ... @ST The slave thing is in Servius's story "Paradox Sun" featuring Touma and Reiko in the Valkyria Chronicles universe @Everyone And this is why I don't like to cross Marvel with EC. Too many problems, too many WTF moment for outsiders like me. I only knew the basics, but it's enough to give me headaches. Beside, whenever EC crossover, there is at least a semblance of equality between the two verse. We do try to balance things out, remember? Also, could SOMEONE f*cking tell me WHY the entire clan is smug? If you break the haughty one (like Gil), fine. Even so, Gil already got his dose of break the haughty moment, and that's just who he is. 3/13/2012 #59 |
![]() @ On soaring wings Why would Magneto even let Shiki get that close? Shiki kills Galactus. She removes the universe's safeguard from the Sealed Evil in A Can, pretty much making it worse for everybody. Shiki's knife is metal. Magneto might as well have her/him kill him/herself with it. And again why would the someone like the surfer let the user of the Eyes of Death Perception get up close and personal? The being in question is not human, so would Shiki understand that being's concept of death? @ Cirex Review Innnortal's time loop stories. Don't worry. That was just an example. 3/13/2012 .
