tsutsujiThank you! I've been out of touch with DS fandom for years, but I still think of it as THE fandom of my life!Fans think the Leviathan storyline was boring? Really? I didn't know that. I remember not liking it at first, just because I didn't like leaving 1897 and I didn't know what the heck was going on. When little brat Alexander showed up, I thought he was just annoying, but then Michael appeared and - instant crush! (Okay, I was 13 at the time, so that was perfectly predictable!) But I thought there was a lot of good stuff in it - as you said, the tension between Julia and Barnabas was an interesting twist. Alexander's and Michael's pre-arranged interest in Carolyn turning into Jeb's life-changing love... Angelique's return, and getting to see another side of her... Quentin's mysterious appearance...And besides all that, I just liked the HPLovecraftian aspect of the Leviathans. It was a bit of a departure for the show, it didn't have the classic gothic romance feeling about it that all the other storylines have with some romantic tragedy lurking in the past. But I thought the chemistry between Carolyn and Jeb was very believable, and that he really seemed to be the love of her life. I was glad that she finally got her own romantic storyline (not counting things that happened back before I started watching in 1969, that is!). Of course, it's possible that I'm not remembering things clearly after all this time! I forgot about Carolyn's father being part of it until you mentioned it. My memory is not as reliable as I like to think it is! |
