Grey-XTopic: Who thinks there should've been a Darkwing Duck level in the Kingdom Hearts series?
I only played the original Knigdom Hearts about a month ago, and going in I knew of the glaring omission of anything from the afternoon toons I grew up with. My only complaints with the game - from a gameplay standpoint - were the crappy camera and the inability to play as anyone but Sora. But still, the inclusion of only Disney stuff from the movies rankled. Especially since I thought Darkwing Duck would've been perfect for the set-up of the game. First of all, even if you couldn't play as Darkwing Duck, just seeing him running around ninja-kicking Heartless into oblivion would've rocked. I mean, the original actually made Ariel look badass, and Peter Pan was FAR more badass than I ever recalled from the movies. Imagine if ol' DW got the same treatment! Secondly, exploring St. Canard and going up against the show's many villains would've been great. Personally, I think the Fearsome Five would've worked best. I mean, it was like Square wanted to incorporate the nastiest of all Disney's villains. In that sense, not having Negaduck was a glaring omission, since he makes all the other Disney villains in the game look wussy by comparison. I'm sorry, but a sociopathic duck with a chainsaw is far more intimidating then a fat octopus, a burlap sack full of bugs or a one-handed pirate. And again, the F5 would've made for awesome boss battles...provided the horrible camera didn't ruin it. First, there shoulda been Sora and his posse taking on Megavolt, Quackerjack, Liquidator and Bushroot all at once, then a fight with Negaduck, then a scene where Negaduck absorbs all the powers of his allies - like in that one episode - and that'd be the final boss of the St. Canard level. Hey, that makes sense right? The first game had the alternate forms of Jafar, Ursula and Maleficent, so having a second, final form for Negaduck woulda been a perfect, climactic end for such a level. OK, I've rambled too much. What do y'all think? |

loonytunecrazy"I agree that should been a darkwing level in Kingdom Hearts not that but there should have all the other disney afternoon worlds as well such as Ducktales etc. Or well maybe there hoping their make some sort appernce in Kingdom Hearts three. I also like your idea of the Negaduck boss he proberbly be quite tought to beat. |

NobilityHmm... I'm not sure. While I agree that Darkwing could easily be incorporated into a Kingdom Hearts game, the game makers probably wanted to concentrate on the movies, since everyone knows them. And, let's face it- as good as the DAFT shows were, they were only a passing fad- characters like Darkwing was never as popular as other Ducktales characters- even Launchpad. Still, it WOULD be kind of interesting if someone would write up a Kingdom Hearts fic where they travel to each of the DAFT worlds- I'd read that. That's the cool thing about Kingdom Hearts- it makes lots of crossovers fun and believable. Though I'm going to have to COMPLETELY disagree with you with Negaduck. Neg's is okay as a villain, but he's nowhere near as scary or tough as Ursula, Maleficent or even Oogie Boogie, for that matter. Sure, a psychopathic chain-saw wielding duck is creepy, but don't forget Maleficent can turn into a giant dragon. And that Ursula is a witch, and can grow gigantic. And Oogie has bugs living inside of him, which is always gross. Actually, I'd place Negaduck with Captain Hook- he can be threatening at times, and he wins points for being competent- but he's far from the most dangerous villain. Also, really, he only wielded a chain-saw like, what, two or three times in the entire show? |

Mad-Hatter-LCarolI heard they were adding a St. Canard level to the newest KH game. I think that they said Bushroot was gonna be a boss...? |

Melissa E.M.Where did you hear this? Also, I would die (figuratively, of course) to see a Kingdom Hearts game with a Disney Afternoon theme to it. Darkwing Duck would make an awesome level. They'd probably end up toning down Negaduck, though, which would suck. In any case, I would buy the game and a Playstation 2 (or 3, or whatever system they're releasing it on these days; I'm a Nintendo fangirl, so I know nothing) just to see Darkwing back in action. There's just one major problem: none of the Disney execs, according to Darkwing creator Tad Stones, remember who Darkwing is. -_-; Major ugh. |

NobilityWhy would they need to tone down Negaduck? He's not THAT scary. |
|
Melissa E.M.Chainsaws and other weapons aside from bombs and sticks of dynamite might be considered "too extreme" by today's standards. :P |
 |
NobilityNegaduck only used a chainsaw a couple of times, about as much as he used bombs. It'd hardly be considered "censoring" if they gave him bombs as his primary weapons instead of chainsaw. |

Patricia de LioncourtLong time no see, huh? I'm the admin to this forum, FYI. Personally, I think it would be great to see a Darkwing level in the KH games. I'm a big fan of the KH series and a HUGE fan of DW, so this would be Heaven. However, I think it's unlikely. Here's hoping though! |
