Welcome to Yullen Week 2011!

This year a new concept will be applied to Yullen Week. The event will run over for two whole weeks, starting December 18th and ending December, 31st, 2011, to celebrate both Allen's and Kanda's (belated) birthday! And of course, this will be a Christmas and New Year's gift for all of us ^^

Under the name YULLEN CELEBRATION WEEKS 2011, both Yullen and Arekan fans are invited to join the party! We also encourage not only authors, but also artists, cosplayers, graphic designers, and practically every Yullen/Arekan fan, regardless what your field is, to join us! To accommodate all kind of submissions, we have a base at http://yullen-week.livejournal[dot]com, as we wish to widen the scope of Yullen Week participants and archive all varieties of works, be it wallpaper, fanfiction, fanart, icon, doll photos, cosplay photos, or whatever you could think of.

We also encourage any kind of relationship between the two, whether it's friendship, bromance, or family piece; it's not limited to romance, as long as it is about Kanda and Allen. Let your creativity run wild, there's no limitation! But there's one thing we'd like to ask you, please always put the following information about your work:

- Pairing (whether you make a Yullen, Arekan, or even a reversible piece).

- Rating.

- Theme and day.

- Warning (if necessary).

Themes

As this year we have a 14 days of celebration, we will also have a total of 14 themes. Is it too many? Of course not!Because you are not obligated to submit all of the themes. Still, we greatly encourage you to finish at least 7 themes (or even all the 14!).

Then, the 14 themes will be divided in two:

- 7 basic themes.

- 7 additional themes (or you can say, these are the optional themes).

Each basic theme lasts for 2 days. For example:

Dec 18-19: Basic Theme 1

Dec 20-21: Basic Theme 2

Dec 22-23: Basic Theme 3

Dec 24-25: Basic Theme 4

Dec 26-27: Basic Theme 5

Dec 28-29: Basic Theme 6

Dec 30-31: Basic Theme 7

Because each theme is for 2 days, you can choose to publish your work anytime during that 2 days period. For example, you can choose to submit your Basic-Theme-1 on either December 18th or 19th.

Alternatively, you can even publish 2 submissions with the same theme if you have the idea for it (i.e. December 18th you publish Basic-Theme-1 fanfiction, and December 19th you publish Basic-Theme-1 fanart).

But if you want to work on a new theme, we provide 7 additional themes for you to use, too. You are free to choose the themes, because they are not restricted by dates. You can also use them as replacement for the basic themes if you can't come up with the idea.

So how is it? Isn't it fun? :D

Again, everybody is encouraged to share their works, no matter if it's only 1, 2, 7, or even 14 pieces! Late submissions are accepted, just like the past Yullen Week. But of course, if you can finish at least 7 themes on time, we will give you a token of appreciation. Our banner maker will give you a banner! And if you can finish all of the 14 themes on time, we will give you a special banner with the picture of your choice for your achievement!

But what if you post 14 submissions with only 7 themes? You can do this, because each theme is for 2 days (as explained above). We will still give you the special banner, because you've succeeded to submit 14 submissions on time! ^^

So be creative, be joyful, have a celebration!

This is fantastic. I'm so glad I'm here for this edition, it's ridiculous. I also love how we're given so long to prepare and finish everything ahead of time. And the quantity of how many things we can submit! This is awesome. Thanks so much for putting together this year's Yullen Week, guys.

; U;)b OMANOMANOMAAAANN. I'm going to friggin burst in euphoria~!! I was so upset because the Yullen fandom has been so inactive lately... Everyone was moving onto other fandoms (and one Blue Exorcist with the Earl and Tsuna ripoff I absolutely can't get into) like KHR and DRRR (okay, I'm also a bit guilty of the latter, heehee). So I'm really happy that this celebration came into play. I mean, it should be expected, with all the homoerotica in the previous arc. O AO)" I didn't appreciate the KanxAlma, but Jesus Christ... The amount of Yullen was MIND BOGGLING.

Personally, methinks the name of the celebration is a bit.. Uhm... XD" But meh, not like my idea for last year was better at all. The concept is great, and gives so much more time for the writers. It's great that it was organized so early. I'd love to help, though. = U=)b

But this time, since the celebration offers so much time... How about you guys organize picture-share events on tumblr or hold manga-page-macros or something? I personally enjoy the latter, and wouldn't mind dubbing Allen's proclamations of "staying here with Kanda" to "wanting to stay alone with Kanda". 8D Ooh, or something about Allen offering his last donut to Kanda---/SHOT/.

OH. And I've been working on compiling an OST for a while. A really big'un. With provided lyrics for the Japanese songs. It would be awesome to give each song its own Yullen cover... Pfftteehee. Anyone want to join me on IM and help?

I torrented the whole DGM anime a while ago, but my operating system would uhhh.... Not be ideal for video editing. = U=" I sorted through them and kept the episodes that supported Yullen, and downloaded all the anime omakes applicable... Because I'm that much of a geek. XDD" Anybody want to motivate me to get on that? Pff.

Mealsothinks that we should abduct the maker of the DGM abridged series and force him to join the celebration.

Thank you for your enthusiasm, we're looking forward to the celebration as well~ and yup, the amount of hints on Kanda/Allen in the last ark sure made me happy, though now I wish for more. Kanda's been missing long enough, he needs to come back (to Allen *cough*) yeah? XD

About the preparation time, yep we wanted the authors/artist/iconists/whoever wants to participate to have a lot of time to make sure they can fill all seven themes (or all 14 if possible) and back in 2008, Mad Half Hour also gave the participants a lot of time to prepare their submissions, so.

About picture-sharing event, though, we're very sorry but we're afraid we can't do that. Yes, there are a few months before December, but Nherizu and I are a full-time office workers with no holidays like back when we were students, so we have to struggle with our lives outside of fandom too.

Although if someone were to hold that event outside of this celebration, I'm sure many would enjoy too =) but yeah as for this celebration, for now we're sorry but we are not planning to organize additional events *bows* I think too much events might confuse people too, if it's under the same name, but if that event is held independently, then I don't see why not :D I would love to see it (though due to my hectic RL I'll probably only be a lurker XD).

If you want to help, please help spread the words, the more participants the merrier, right? :D and if you want to participate in the theme suggestions, feel free :D

Nice going there so far. Emm, quick question: will you organize a beta post for this round? I mean, there are some ppl who might have difficulty finding a willing beta. So it'll be very helpful if you guys can organize a beta search/request post over at the lj or here.

I'm so in like yesterday. Prepare for Yullenness of the 14th kind. ;D (See what I did thurr?) Anyways, totally lovin' the idea for this year and the amount of time given is such an added bonus it's like, five bonuses in one.

Question, though; we can just post on the ff.net archive, right? 'Cause I have an lj but I don't use it enough. I'm still relatively new at joining things like this. Some help would be muuuch appreciated. :3 Also, where will the polls be posted?

Hi, yes you can publish your fanfiction on FFnet as usual and we will archive all the submissions on our LJ base. For late entries, however, we encourage people to link us to the entries as we won't be keeping our eye on FFnet archive every day to check which of the stories published outside the YW 2011 dates are the late entries ^^

The poll will be posted in a short while on our LJ community. But don't worry, since we want everyone (not only FFnet authors and LJ users, but also those who are active on dA, tumblr, and many other sites) to participate, we will be using a 'Free Poll', which doesn't require voters to have LJ accounts. One person can only vote once as it's secured with IP addresses and cookies blocker. So yeah, please stay tuned, as we will post the link to the poll soon ^^

And no problem, I'm aware that this year's YW is a bit (or really?) different, so feel free to send us questions should you find confussions regarding this event xD

So my questions are: Will all of the themes be posted on FFnet as well as LiveJournal, or is it only on one? and: If you have a story that uses more than one of the themes, does it count as using two themes?

First, you do not have to post your submissions on both LJ and ffnet, either one is fine. We provide LJ for those who don't have ffnet account, and for the submissions that are not fanfics like icons, fanarts, etc. Second, your story MAY contain another theme, but officially it would only be counted as one.

For example the theme for day 1-2 is Silence, and theme for day 2-3 is Fingertips. You can write a fic with silence as the big theme, but if your story have Allen and Kanda interacting with touch instead of words, which might be seen as the fingertips theme as well, it's fine, but you can still write for fingertips on its assigned days (day 2-3) too. So basically the "official" theme you use is only one.

I was wondering, are songfic's acceptable as long as they stick with the themes? And can one fic count for two themes, such as a Voiceless/last stand one, or a different combination?

Hello. Sure, songfic is allowed as long as you put the disclaimer. But please don't post it here since FFnet forbids songfic. Alternatively, you can post your songfic on Livejournal, or on other sites which don't have such restrictions. This year, Yullen Week has a base on Livejournal, so you can still submit your Yullen Week submissions, even if they're not on FFnet. For example, artists are going to submit their submissions on DeviantArt, and we (the mods) will archive them on our Livejournal Community. Hope that helps :)

It does, but it looks like I'll have to rethink a couple of my ideas since i don't have a live journal account. *Sigh* That could make things difficult...

You can publish them on your own blog, tumblr, or maybe AO3? (I'm not sure, but I think AO3 allows songfics). Or if you prefer to think of some other ideas, that would be cool too ^^
