Well, I haven't actually tried to beat him yet. So far I'm on my first New Game +... I don't know if I will take him on.

Do you know if there's a difference in the storyline if you beat him once, twice or three times?

No. I'm afriad not. Even if he is most likely the strongest fiend in the game (stupid, since Vegnagun is meant to be the strongest) you do not get anything for bestering this guardian. He's only there to guard the door when you get the melody wrong. It's like a castle guard, only there to stop tresspassers but beating him doesn't get you anywhere because he is nothing. The only things that effect the ending is what happens when you fight Vegnagun, your completion percentage and what your do in Farplane after you beat Vegnagun. Other than that, there isn't much else which effects thr ending or storyline.

Ah well.

In other news...

So, I beat Black Elemental. Oh joy, now I have CAT NIP!!!1!!!1shift+1!!

...ahem.

With it, I beat Angra Mainyu in about five minutes, but for some reason my Catnipped Gunner (Rikku) was being left alone. I mainly used Trigger Happy (with or without SOS status) and Darkness to take out the arms and body, and Lady Luck with Magic and Item Reels for support and attacking every so often. I probably could beat him without Cat Nip, but then it would take a while and I might get Perdition's Flame-d to death.

Turns out I've already beaten the musical barriers... I'll fight him in the Via Infinito. And I'll kill him goooood....

By the way, a good tip for people who use Lady Luck in battles:

Magic Reels is easily the best. You have, at your disposal, Cura (really useful), Demi, Break, Flare, Black Sky and Ultima, among others. The last three are really quite powerful and stomp all over CONGRATS!! or Shin-Zantetsu (which is a waste of time). If you get a Dud, then don't panic.

FOR GOD'S SAKE DON'T PANIC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

...ahem again. XP I'm currently @_@ at the moment...

Just Magic Reels again and focus on getting a cherry at the bottom on the first reel, then mash so you don't get two or three cherries. If you get one, you'll get Cura x2 (along the bottom and diagonally up). That'll heal you up nicely.
