This is the place to claim the Points you've earned for your House. Remember to say who you are, what House you're in, and to link to any stories written or reviewed. A full list of rules for earning and claiming Points is in the next post.

You can earn points for your House in several ways:

1. Write a story for Prompt of the day. To get points for this, you need to claim the prompt within 24 hours of it being posted, and then post your story within a week. Stories written for the PotD usually earn about 10 Points, but this varies with the length and quality of the story at Mods' discretion.

2. Review a story in one of the HO Libraries:

Hogwarts Online - Prompt of the Day Library

Gryffindor House Library - This is only for those in Gryffindor House.

Hufflepuff House - This is only for those in Hufflepuff House.

Ravenclaw Library - This is only for those in Ravenclaw House.

Slytherin House Homework Library - This is only for those in Slytherin House.

Reviews earn up to 4 Points a chapter, but the number of Points varies with the length of the fic reviewed (though there is no hard and fast rule concerning wordcount). We will also check a sample of reviews for "quality" - two word reviews won't get as many points as a more detailed one.

3. Write a story in response to a challenge set in the Gringotts thread.

4. Write for the forum collaboration - stories submitted by the deadline earn 20 Points for your House. All these Points will be added when the collab is posted - you don't need to claim them.

5. Do personal or House homework set by a Mod (usually, but not always, your own Head of House). This will usually be reviewing or writing, and will be marked by the Mod who set it.

Claiming Points:To receive your Points (except for writing for the collab), you need to post in the McGonagall's Office thread. You need to post your name, which House you're in and a link to what you've written or reviewed.

Example:

Fred Of Gryffindor reviewed "A Seeker's Tale" by Harry Potter in the Hogwarts online Library and "Dumped!" by Dean Thomas from the Prompt of the Day Library. (Both stories should be linked.)

or:

Cedric of Hufflepuff wrote "My Life After Voldemort" (linked) for the January 1st Prompt.

Points will usually be added by the first Mod to get to them, unless they are specific homework, in which case we will mark them for the Mod concerned. If you do House or personal homework, make sure you say it is!

Example:

Cho of Ravenclaw wrote "Muggle-loving fool" (linked) for the Ravenclaw House homework.

Or:

Blaise of Slytherin reviewed "The Superiority of the Snake" (linked) for homework set by Professor Monse.

PLEASE NOTE: all Points are awarded at Mods' discretion, and because we are human and because there are four mods with their own ideas on things, Points will not always be entirely consistent. This is within the Hogwarts tradition! if you have any serious issues with Points you are given, please PM the mod concerned.

Above all, remember that this is for FUN. Please don't let it get too serious or over-the-top competitive.
