When writing The View From Langley I wondered how similarly or differently s10 might have ended had Jim Coaver survived and made Harry see sense while staying as close as possible to the original script, so here it is. In this version, no-one else has to die. The political background and my characters carry on from TVFL. BBC/Kudos own what is theirs, the rest is my own.

Alternative season 10 story. MI5 gets an offer of information about the whereabouts of a notorious terrorist, and must decide whether it is for real or an elaborate trap. Ruth is roped in from her new job at the Home Office to help assess the source of information, which brings unresolved feelings to the surface. And then the Americans get involved - with devastating consequences.

Five months after Ruth has died, Towers sends Harry to the country for some R&R. A gentle story of renewal - in five chapters - also involving a small dog and a cat.

Set shortly after Harry and Ruth's date. Interior monologues as they try and make sense of what's happening.

When Ruth had left for the second time to return to Cyprus with the boy, continuing had seemed almost impossible for Harry. He'd managed to survive the last five years through sheer strength of will. Now, however, his self-neglect has caught up with him and he's been forced to take leave. Will a chance encounter on holiday bring him the peace and hope he so desperately needs?
