Just a little thing I came up with at school yesterday.. All Snafu has is his silence. It used to be something wonderful, but the war changed all of that, and now it's more of a painful reminder. The silence was the only thing he had, but when Eugene shows up at his doorstep one stormy day, maybe he doesn't have to suffer the silence alone. Maybe they can suffer together.

The limo pulled up to the shipyard and even though darkened windows, I could see the roaring crowds and clamoring journalists. But I didn't want this. I hadn't asked for this. All I wanted was Eugene Sledge, and the future he promised me. Sid/OC/Eugene

Eugene looked around, dread settling in his stomach. Snafu had gone... "Mornin' Sledgehamma." Eugene never realised how much he relied on that N'Awlins drawl. You COULD call this a PreSlash, I guess.

You don't know fear until it's crippling your outright ability to breathe and cope.

His parents and most strangers call him Eugene.

He turns around as Eugene sinks to his knees, and the father for a moment fears the worst. Eugene is crying, but Dr. Sledge is just relieved it isn't his heart. Except, in a way, it is. COMPLETE, NO SLASH
