Update June 4, 2012

Due to the current witch hunt on this site, I will be moving ALL my stories to AO3 as well as my personal blog cavalierqueenwordpresscom. The blog is somewhat out of date, but I will spend the next week, June 4, 2012, to bring it up to date and begin posting on a regular basis. It will be my regular way of communicating with the public, not just about stories but also about topics of interest, including writing. You can sign-up through RSS feed and through email. I have some invites to AO3, and can get more once I use those. You can email me if you would like one.

I've been through one purge on already and there have been many before this. This sites unwillingness to deal with those that take it upon themselves to police an open forum and bully authors leaves me no choice but to follow my conscience and leave. Both ff net's and these ugly, nasty bullies fall back on the site rules and regulations, but as with copyright laws, if an owner fails to consistently enforce said rules and regulations they are meaningless and the norm become the actual rule. In the hundreds of thousands of stories in ff net, it has become the norm for M rated stories to be NC-17. Therefore, there is no meaning behind the current purge just as with the others.

As for updating some of my 'abandoned' stories, I plan to use those stories as warm-ups and practice as I write my novel. Yes, novel. Fan fiction is an amazing way to get those creative juices flowing. I don't plan to start any new stories, but several of my stories will continue including a Criminal Minds and Flashpoint stories. Depending on this next season of True Blood, I may be inspired to continue a few of those as well. Thank you for your on-going support.

Jan 2012:

To answer a few questions I regularly get: Yes, I'm still writing FF. The only story I am still continuing is Lemon Jam. The others are abandoned in lieu of my novel writing. That's right! Everyone has been so encouraging that I've decided to dip my toes in the novel writing *ocean*. If you've marked me as a Favorite Author in the past, I'll be sure and let you know where you can find me as I get my publishing legs under me.

Blessings to all,

Renee

Profile update August 2010:

Thanks to all my readers and growing fanbase. I read each and every review. They feed the muse!

Current projects are all on the True Blood category. Things are busy in life and are quickly getting in the way of writing for pleasure, so updates and new stories, if any, will come slower than they have during the summer. Kids' school, volunteering, studying for my SPHR exam, beginning a novel, and taking care of my mental and physical well-being take priority over writing, as personally disappointing as that is.

Profile update May 2010:

Thanks to readers who nominated my story "The Red-Haired Woman" again this year for the LJ NCIS awards under best pairing, romance. This is the second year in a row!

As most of my favorite shows are drawing to a close for the season, I thought I would present my current thoughts about their direction and cliff-hangers (if there were any!)

NCIS- This show has been on for many seasons, and seems to be hitting its full stride as it reaches maturity. The story lines are again complex and this season has continually built on what seem to be minor plot points in an episode, but as the season has progressed become more important. I'll look forward to where they lead for next season. While Tony had been showing signs of growth and maturity, now the character seems to be mostly providing comedy relief unless Gibbs is actually gone. I prefer a more serious Tony myself.

NCIS: LA- This show is still in its infancy, but holds promise. Chris O'Donnell's characterization of 'G" is spot-on and brings me back to watch every Tuesday. His portrayal is extremely subtle, enough that some may think nothing of it, but it adds to the elements of his leadership of the team, the secrecy of his past, and his personal desire for a future.

Criminal Minds: While I still enjoy this show for its procedural elements, it lacks the interpersonal nature of so many of my other favorites. I'd look forward to more from the characters, but I doubt that will be forthcoming.

CSI: Not sure why I keep watching these and will not come the fall.

Bones: I don't follow any of the fandom on this show, just as I don't on any of the others. But I was prepared for this season's 'cliff-hanger' if one can call it that. This shows chemistry between the primary characters and the ensemble (although I'd really like to have either Zack or the young blonde guy on all the time) is great, one of the best on TV IMHO. However, the continual yanking of the characters together and then ripped apart at the season finale is becoming frustrating to the point of distraction. I understand the point of the 'tease,' I watched X-Files and Moonlighting just for the UST. But in the end, my personal enjoyment of the show can only be pushed so far and that point is being reached quickly. It doesn't help that the last two season finales have been absurd either.

Justified: I watch this for Timothy Olyphant and continuing watching for the character of Boyd. The show holds promise but I withold judgment for now. He can leave the hat on though. :-)

Miami Medical: Watch it for Jeremy Northam, if not for the ridiculous plot lines.

The Tudors: Thank goodness Season 4 was the end! The show has been on the downslide since season 2, but really...who can top Anne Bolyen? This season was almost painful to watch and they strung out the ordeal of Katherine Howard to the point of absurdity. I thought if I heard the phrase :"she seems like a girl who only likes to dance and flirt" or something of the like I would scream!

True Blood: Season 3 starts in June. Set your DVR's. *Another* lover of Sookie--our very popular supernatural waitress. I hope that she doesn't fall into bed...dreams or reality...with Alcide. I continue to dislike Bill and my stories reflect that. The little minisode introducing Yvetta to Eric was exciting. While Eric might only be heating things up with Sookie in her dreams, Eric/Yvetta is *very* promising! I'll enjoy adding to the on-going story of "While Awaiting Sunday."

Thanks again to all of you who mark my stories as favorites, give favorite author alerts, story alerts, and reviews! I've also noticed that many readers seem to send stories they enjoy on to their friends to read, and I love that too!

Profile update: For those reading, I am back on a pseudo hiatus (Jan 10) due to being 'hospitalized.' I hope that once I am better I will pick up my writing with a fervor, but not a manic fervor. Three stories I will focus on will be Paradise Lost, King, the Duke, and the Lady, and my two Criminal Minds stories. And I still have another NCIS story to finish that includes the character of Callen in it, but is not what I would consider a cross over. Tony, while I have portrayed him poorly in other stories, has grown alot as a character in NCIS and I like him even more than Gibbs these days. I didn't watch any of Leverage this year, so there is no inspiration for a new story there. I am really liking NCIS:LA and the characters of Callen and Sam and might be inspired to write a story there at some point. I also have just discovered Criminal Minds which leads me to a lot of speculation of a possible story there. The last movie I was inspired to write about was Hitman, which I completely loved and is totally out of my normal genre of even watching, much less writing about.

And to my regular readers, I have reinstated story/author alerts and favorite stories. PM is back on or you can contact me through email. Thanks and enjoy your reading!

Renee

Previous profile:

Thanks for reading fellow TV enthusiasts. I love to write, and currently stick to fanfic, although have had some encouragement to strike out on my own since so many of my stories end up with my own characters leading the way! I am mom to 2 boys, 10 and 7, and have a wonderful husband who indulges my writing addiction. I find the more I write, the more politics, theology (not necessarily religion, but can be), and current events get wrapped into my stories. These are important times we live in, without any black and white, but only shades of gray. I like to see how the characters struggle with these issues. It is easy to turn a 43 minute episode into something black and white, and I suppose that is a comfortable place for some people. But I like my characters, and my friends and associates, more complicated than that. They are more interesting to talk to and more interesting to read.

I am also, thankful to my 7th grade English teacher Mrs. Gorman, a nitpicker about grammar and spelling errors, continuity issues, and poor, if any, technical research. I have high standards for myself, and even though I read a chapter 5-6 times before posting, I may still find an error after it is posted, but I bet most people don't find it. I have become really picky about what stories I read, because if they are poorly written, and obviously not even briefly proofed, I feel sad for the story that could have been told. Mrs. Gorman was tough, she even threw an eraser at me for conjugating a verb wrong (hint, the word is not brung). I only hope that my kids can conjugate any verb in the English language and properly diagram any sentence thrown at them in 7th grade, but I think it might be mom who teaches those skills and not the teachers, in public or private schools. I have a child in each. I can still do it 30 years later. THAT is teaching, and if Mrs. Gorman is alive today I hope she is well taken care of. And if she has passed away, may she have rest from the great chalkboard in the sky, knowing she did her part for the children she taught to write effectively as adults.

I just wrote a profile, since people seemed to actually be checking for one. Hope this was interesting and insightful. Thanks for reading AND reviewing!

Renee
