Fall has arrived, winter is on it's way. Only three weeks until my sister, niece and I fly to Chicago to attend the Supernatural convention. My sister and I attended the November 2008 Supernatural convention in Chicago even though we live in the Pacific Northwest, which is a lot closer to Vancouver where they film the show. It was my second convention as I also attended the one in 2007 with my nephew and niece. My nephew and I just returned from the 2009 "Supernatural" convention that was held the last week of August in Vancouver. It is always so much fun to be surrounded by other fans of the show, the good energy that comes from talking to others, listening to the actors, the photo-ops and autographs or just people watching. Thanks to the writer infinite shadow for her help in giving us the addresses for different sites where the show has filmed so we could visit them. I hope it doesn't sound weird that I'm attending two conventions this year. I didn't plan on going to the Vancouver event when we bought the Chicago tickets last November, but Vancouver is so much closer and it is only a eight hour drive, so I thought about going and than my nephew Levi wanted to go, so I bought him a ticket for his birthday and well, we had a wonderful! time. It was so much fun just watching Levi smile and talk to everyone, plus his expression when he had the photo op with Alona, Traci and Julie. The Vancouver convention was fun. Jensen and Jared were in excellent moods. The photo ops were so much fun. We were in able to watch the 2 J's talking to other guests and see them playing/relaxing while we waited our turn. My nephew tricked me and I ended up standing next to Jensen, who is the reason I watched the very first episode before discovering the wonderful Jared too, but Jensen makes me nervous and I have stood next to Jared in the past for photos. Yet, it was interesting to see the final photo, I did remember to smile and my nephew Levi and Jared were talking just before the picture was taken, so funny smiles, but Levi is almost as tall as Jared. (which makes Levi very happy) We also met AJ and Travis from the Ghostbusters. Now I may not always like the characters, though they are funny, but AJ and Travis, very funny on stage and during the autograph session. I would love for them to come to Chicago in November so my sister and niece could see them in action, but they are not on the schedule. Jake who played Adam did a wonderful job at his first convention. My nephew enjoyed getting a photo and autographs with Alona, Julie and Tracy, they were very sweet and funny too. I guess I should mention why I read stories on this site. I may not post any stories, but I love to read. I've been reading the "Supernatural" stories on this site since the show began, but didn't log on until a bit later. I wanted to thank the authors for sharing their stories with us. I won't/can't read death fictions or stories about rape. If an author is going to write one of these types of stories, I really wish they would warn the reader. My favorite stories involve both brothers, so a good mystery, or hurt Dean or Sam stories are great, just as long as the brothers are together supporting and helping each other. I also like stories that go by the Kripke time line based on the Pauley interview of 2006. But now that the new book has been published based on John's journal, it looks like Kripke has changed his mind and the storyline again and Sam was at college from 19 to 22, so three years instead of two, now Dean arrived Sam's senior year instead of his junior year. I will admit I'm not good about reading work from new or unfamiliar authors as I have my list of favorites and pretty much stick to that, but I've been trying to expand my list and read work from other writers. If I choose to read someones story, I always try to leave a thank-you/review whether it is each chapter, or if I read the whole story and than review. I really do appreciate the time and effort the writers put into their stories, plus they shared their work so we could read it. I try to point out the parts I liked and I really don't ever try to be negative, but will mention if a part didn't work for me, I'm not trying to be mean when I do. It is hard at times when I do read stories by new authors and they surprise me with the level of violence that is only rated T. I realize that rape and graphic child abuse does not bother some readers, though I don't understand how they can handle reading it and encourage it, but I wish the site monitors would at least ask for these stories to be rated higher, yet it seems they don't care anymore. I will admit that it does get frustrating at times when a writer does not finish her/his story. They post on a regular basis and than just disappear. I realize that life can get in the way of writing, as it gets in the way of me having time to read, but I end up wishing I had never started to read until the story was completed. It is like reading a good book, only to find the last chapter is missing. I'm sorry if it seems as I'm complaining, I do love to read! stories on this site and occasionally visit Deandamage.com or Supernaturalville.com - just have trouble with the level of violence that some writers think they need for their stories. Just some personal information. I enjoy my job as a nurse in a doctor's office, yet would not be much help with questions about hospital procedures. For extra money, I also house sit, taking care of my friends and co-workers pets while they are on vacation. I won't watch spiders or snakes, but have taken care of an assortment of animals ranging from white rats to clouded leopards and of course all the normal ones, dogs, cats, horses ect. I have four cats, my children, that keep me company. So sometimes when I typing a review, if there are any spelling errors, you can blame my helpers as they like to either block the screen or lay on my arm. I have a group of friends and family that are Supernatural fans ranging in age from 16 to 67. We may not be very good about posting comments on different sites about the show, but we do love to send letters and I realize they are form letters, but our group has received signed publicity shots of Jensen and Jared twice, thanking us for sharing our comments. I'm enjoying season five, especially now that the brothers have been reunited. I do like the character Castiel, but I fell in love with the show because of the two brothers, not to watch the Dean and Castiel or Sam and guest star of the week. I watch because of the two brothers, family, a cool car, good music, urban legends, hunting evil, saving people and fighting the supernatural. I'm love being a fan of "Supernatural" and I've made some great friends on this site. I will continue to watch the show until the final episode, just to see how Kripke finishes the story he started in 2005 and while I'm waiting, I will also get to continue to read some great/awesome stories on this site. Well if I haven't bored you yet, than thanks for visiting and/or thanks for sharing your stories with me. Take care. Lori | |||||||
