About me: I’m 19, (and still watching Digimon *and* Power Rangers. [Holds up his trusty Death Killa 3000®©™] You gotta problem widdat, punk? Didn’t think so.) Male, black, from Texas. Though I don't beat people down with it, I am a Christian. A lot of people don’t want to believe that there’s anything higher than mankind, but once upon a time, we thought that Earth was the center of the universe, and it all revolved around us, and saying otherwise and actually knowing what you were talking about got you exiled. Once upon a time, we didn’t want to believe we were a pretty small planet around a totally average star, completely unremarkable in the grand scheme of things. Today, we don’t want to believe that there could be someone as high above us as we are above a flea. We wanted to be the center of the universe, now, we want to be top of the sentience ladder... all the same thing: our own arrogance. And lately, it seems to be cool or something to say you’re an atheist, and that we Christians should just leave everybody alone. I’ve got no problem with people who believe differently than I do (contrary to ever-more-popular belief, not all or even most of us are all superior and out to force our beliefs on everybody else out there. Those that do are breaking some of the fundamental rules of Christianity. “Do unto others as you would have them to unto you” has been reduced to nursery-school level, to the point where your intelligence is insulted if someone says it to you, and yet, we haven’t all mastered it.) but I won’t keep what I believe under wraps because someone may get offended. I’ve run into a few people who get totally furious if you dare say the G word in front of them, and immediately begin launching accusations, most of them about how intolerant Christians are. But to those guys I say, “Who’s really being intolerant?” Tolerance must work both ways or it’s not tolerance, it’s the very same thing those people accuse us of. And I’d like to encourage other Christians to speak up as well, whether it’s popular to do so or not. Well, enough preaching. I've been storing that up for some time, you know. Anyway, time for the usual list of likes and dislikes, and all those boring little things about my life that no one really cares about. Favorite show: Enterprise. Least favorite show: Yu-Gi-Oh. Why's everybody love it so much? They play cards. Reeeallllly exciting. I mean, I can see if it's an "I have your brother's soul, you get him back if you beat me, I get yours if I beat you" situation, but the other 99.9% of the time, it's just a card game, and they're acting all dramatic as if Wheeler losing to Kaiba (and they're not even betting anything, Kaiba's just trying to prove... what *was* he trying to prove, anyway?) would be the most horrific disaster to befall the universe. "TRUST IN THE HEART OF THE CARDS!!" Gimme a break. Favorite movie: Independence Day. Least favorite movie: Mars Attacks. Boooring! Favorite food: Pizza. What I like in a fanfic: Good characterization. That's sacred to me. If characters don't act like they do in the show/movie/book/whatever, then it's not *really* that character, it's just some stranger with his name. If I can't believe that yes, this is Rika, this is Sesshomaru, this is Theremon 762, then it's no longer like being in the universe of the show. Picture the character saying or doing whatever it is, and if you can't, don't put it in. That goes triple for bashing. If you hate the character that badly, then either (a) tone down whatever it is you hate so much or (b) say he/she is on vacation in Maui or something and don't put him/her in at all. And no, the other characters *aren't* glad he/she's finally gone. Believability above all. What I hate in a fanfic: Never, NEVER throw ANs into the middle of a story. Before? Fine. After? Fine. During? Nothing (AN: Pantera rocks!) is more lethal to the flow of a story than (AN: Man, that Lt. Uhura is soooo hot! ^_^) to stir comments into the (AN: Notice Arukenimon looks a bit like Carmen Sandiego?) mix, even if they're more relevant than the examples I gave. Once you get into a story, that sort of thing knocks you right back out of it again. Digimon stuff: Favorite character: Either Gatomon or Ken (not much difference between the two, really.) Favorite villain: Mercurymon. Great voice, and the Sakkakumon plan makes him one of the smarter villains. I like smart bad guys who know what they're doing instead of "I'm evil, I'll go bash the good guys with no real plan in mind." Favorite Digimon: MetalSeadramon. People I like that everyone else hates: Etemon, Davis, Cody, Jun, Suzie, Jeri, Neemon, Ranamon People I hate that everyone else likes: Matt, Kari (02 only), Duskmon | |||||||
